Q: What is the width of the mounting brackets
A: It varies on how wide the space is you are mounting the gate. You twist a knob on each bracket to tighten/loosen. I’ve blocked a door that was 35 inches wide and one that was 40 inches wide. However the closer you get to the max width (41.5 inches) the more wobbly the brackets are
submitted byThogan - 5 years agoA: I have a 39 in opening and I could not get the gate to work at that width.

Q: What amount of force would be required to break the gate off the wall? Let's say a toddler ran straight into it at full speed. I've had tension shower curtains come off the wall by merely closing the curtain.
A: No a child wouldn't be able to knock the gate over it is held pretty well by brackets
submitted byCody - 8 months agoA: Hello, it depends on the child and how much force they are able to exert. If you install the wall cups that will help to prevent that from happening.

Q: One of the threaded spindle rods seems to go right into the corner of the gate without screwing, which prevents the tension required to keep the gate in place. Is it stripped/defective?
A: They slide in the holes, they do not thread or “screw” into your gate. You will need to turn the grey adjustment wheels that are on the metal threaded spindle rods counterclockwise, so essentially, they will move closer toward the gate and farther from the rubber end. As you turn these, they will thread onto the silver spindle rod which will create pressure and close the gap in between the latch. You want to make sure you continue to turn the grey adjustment wheels until your latch almost meets the other side. If you have gone too far, you will know because your latch will not be able to operate and then you would need to just loosen the grey adjustment wheels slightly. Please make sure you turn the wheels on all 4 sides, so the amount of pressure is distributed evenly throughout the gate.

Q: Is there a lock on this gate? Sometimes we are not able to slide the lever back on the top after pushing the button. Wondering if there is a lock somewhere that we are accidently engaging??
A: No, there is not an additional lock on the gate. It does sound like there might be a manufacturing defect and we would recommend that you reach out to Regalo at service@regalo-baby.com for assistance with this issue.

Q: Can you use the tension gate above the baseboard? Would be 4 inches above the floor.
A: We do recommend that you install the gate flush with the ground as it could pose a trip hazard otherwise.
