A: When positioning the gate near the edge of the stairs, there is an increased risk of a child's arm, leg, or body becoming accidentally trapped between the bottom of the gate and the top of the stair should the gate become dislodged.

Q: Can the hinges be installed on the left hand side looking down the stairs? Why is there a requirement the gate be installed 6" from edge of stairs?

A: There should have been 2 sets of latches included in your box for mounting. One would allow it to be on the left side and one on the right. We recommend that the gate be installed 6 inches away from the edge of the stairs as to not create an entrapment hazard.

A: We do not recommend using our gates outdoors because they do not have any protective coating on them. We do manufacture outdoor gates through our sister company, Carlson Pet Products, that can be used outdoors.

A: By changing where the panels are aligned before the couple are connected together. You will want to have the panels at the correct distance before putting the couplers on.

Cheap screws that are flimsy trashy. Used zinc wood 1.5 inch length #10 screws instead. They worked perfectly. Gate works well so far. Installation was a bit a pain because the cheap screws were breaking off trying to get them into a 1960s pine doorway. Once I upgraded the screws I hqd no issues. We'll see how long it last against a 40lb 1.5 year old boy.

WE purchased two of these gates to keep our kiddos safe on our deck last summer and they have been perfect! During a recent storm one of them broke off at the hinges. I called Regalo CS to see if I could get replacement hinges and the team was fantastic. I picked the wrong hinges the first go round and when I called again they are sending me the correct hinges free of charge! Missi was so awesome and I grately appreciated how understanding she was and not being charged twice for the hinges. Love the gate, loved the customer service!!

We bought this to help corral a new puppy. Installation was easy enough, we chose to mount it and thought it was the perfect solution. Made it about two weeks before the pieces broke off from the wall mount and now it's unuseable. Very disappointed.

I regret this purchase so much. This is very poorly designed. It would make sense if this get would slide open and close but no. On a normal sized staircase, one part of the gate permanently blocks 80% of the entrance while the second part opens like a door. The latch is pointless and useless.

Needs a better way to open the gate other than the easy latch. Our youngest will be 2 next month. He is very tall and very strong. Our old gate (not at the stairs, just in a doorway) had a different way of opening where you had a couple of buttons you had to squeeze together and slide the piece over. Plus, the gate was pressure mounted. Our son kept pushing and pulling at the old gate enough to where it would open so he could get through. Little stinker... lol So we were excited to find a tall one that screwed into the wall. However, once we got home and took it out of the box, we noticed the latch is super simple. Our little strong man also watches everything others does to copy them. So it would only take him a few minutes to figure out opening this gate; thus, rendering it useless to us. We would love to keep it, if it had a latching mechanism that he wouldn't be able to open.

Flimsy, plastic pieces - making it nearly impossible to get good alignment from wall to wall. Latch won’t latch without force, and that’s after we’d tried to adjust a dozen times. Taking back the same day we bought it

Terrible instructions so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass to read! I am using in a hall for a dog. Took forever and I'm still not sure if I will use or just toss it. Its maddening all around. May just stick with my tension gate that I don't like either...but I need something and thiz is not going to be it I don't think.
An easy install! Swings well, it's perfect for stairs OR doorways/ entry hallways etc. My older girls can navigate the gate, my 5 year old kind of has the hang of it but the 2 year old is still obliv

Used it as a gate for our mudroom. We needed something to screw into the wall. Works great! I wish it was a bit more difficult to open. Our 3yr old figured it out in a week. But it serves its purpose for a great price.

For starters the instructions were a mess as mentioned by others. I can see how it would be helpful for some and possibly just at the bottom of the stairs but not for top of stairs. It didn’t work out for us due to the mounts being in a hollow area of the wall (no support at all) and when we did the shake test, it was pulled out of the wall on the second shake. Had that been my child…I’d be writing more than a horrible review. Partly our layout design flaw and possibly the design/build of the gate. I’m happy a wall mounted option was available vs just the pressure mount but again, if your wall/stairs don’t have the right build or support- it won’t work.

Gate is pretty sturdy, we’ve had it for Alipay 2 years. Bought it for puppy proofing, but kept it up high enough in doorways for the cat to pass under. Mounting to the doorway was the way to go, withstood 40lbs of puppy and 80lbs of an older sheepdog running into it. Disassembled and moved with it twice now and everything has held up!

I'm really disappointed in this gate. I mounted it according to directions, but it has come apart multiple times, and now the mounting hardware has completely broken. I've had it just over 6 months. I have another hardware mounted gate by a different company, and with a different mounting mechanism, and it has lasted far longer with zero issues. Because of these issues, this gate would be EXTREMELY unsafe to use as a baby gate at the top of a staircase.

It’s a decent gate and gets the job done. We use it for the upstairs so it’s used often, so far we haven’t had any issues with it falling apart ( it’s been about a year). I will say the instructions are a nightmare but you can find a YouTube video that can help .
