Quality not commensurate to the design

Got this microwave to complement the stove and the fridge (both Samsung) and had it professionally installed Dec. 2023. I like its flat design (no protruding handle) and wifi feature (used just for synchronizing with the phone for time). The fan is super noisy, and it can be easily turned on (unintentionally). But I'd get easily over these flaws if it lasted. End of March 2025, after slightly over a year of minimal use (warming food for not even 10 min a day), one day it just gave me C-F2 error. Disconnecting from and reconnecting to power did nothing to rectify the error. In talking to Samsung's approved service centre, based on the error code, rectifying the error could easily come close to the cost of a new microwave (depending on parts required to be replaced) and I haven't decided whether to replace it with another one or go the repair route (in case it can be repaired without being dismounted).

I bought this microwave for its sleek design, it's modern looks ,it was on sale and I needed a microwave. First off I would recommend that you have this professionally installed by Samsung team because we did it ourselves and it's quite a project and can take a lot of time so it's well worth the money to have installed by them. So once it was installed and up and running, here or some things to consider. The digital keypad lettering is a muted grey color on a dark background. You have to have a somewhat bright room to see the keypad "buttons. " It would have been nice to have a keypad that lit up once it was touched. Because the microwave is mounted high and the door handle is on the right, I open the door with my right hand since there is no button to press to open door. The door handle is disguised on the right side, the thing I noticed is when I close the door naturally with my left hand my fingers would often time touch one or two of the 3 bottom buttons , which are either the task lights, the turntable off/on button or the fan button. I don't so much mind accidentally touching the light button but when I hit the turniable off/on and the fan button that's is really more annoying because I don't know that I've turned off the turntable feature, which I prefer the turning feature to be always on. If your fingers accidentally touch the fan button it comes on at the maximum fan speed and it is loud. Some of you may be familiar with the 30 second instant microwaving feature. On most microwave ovens, when you press the 30 sec button your food starts to cook immediatlely. On this microwave you have to also hit the start button to cook your food and that's just an extra unnecessary step in my opinion. If you have to defrost something in this microwave, you will need to open up your Smarthings App because there is no power level button on the microwave keypad to allow you defrost frozen food at a specific power level/%, however this can be.accomplished in the Smarthings App. Once you set the desirwd defrost program and send it over via wifi to the microwave oven you still have to go to the oven and push the start button which to me seems to defeat the purpose of the app if I'm have to walk back over just to push the start button. It would be awesome if they had a "Start" button in the Smarthings app.

Fan button in a bad spot

I bought this microwave in 2023, alone with the Bespoke induction range and dishwasher. I have to say that the button for the fan is near where you open the door, the problem is the fan turns on often when opening the door. It is annoying. Bad design I guess.

The button panel is not back-lit. It's impossible to see the controls. We can't use it without a flashlight. Ridiculous. The clock is very vibrant and bright. I no longer want it but too late now.

Piece of junk. Poorly designed and not working.

We purchased this Microwave in July 2024. What a surprise it was to find out that when opening the door, it protrudes into the space on the hinge site, even though the cooking chamber is much narrower than the 30-inch width of the unit. It cannot be installed with a panel on the left side because the door will not open. We already had a Samsung range, and to have a nice set of appliances, we modified the panel for the door to open. Now, after about seven months of service, this unit is dead. It displays a C-F2 error, which means the control panel lost connection with the processor. Reset procedures do not do any good. The Sharp microwave we replaced with this Samsung unit was our wedding gift and has been working for 31 years. It still works at a different location.

Cooks Great and is Atttractive

I will start my review with the positives. It cooks very well and is very attractive. Now for the negatives. This unit is poorly designed and has several shortcomings. 1. The door is the full width of the unit. Nowhere in the documentation did it say that it needs at least an additional 1.5 inches on the left side to allow the door to swing open. I had to redesign my cupboards to accommodate this shortcoming. Not pleasant! The door could have been designed to just cover the cooking compartment, not the entire unit. 2. The control panel has touch buttons which are marked in grey on a black glass which makes them hard to see even in normal light. In the dark or dim light, they are totally invisible. The control panel back should have been back-lit with led lighting to make them easily seen. Additionally they attract finger prints which require frequent cleaning. 3. Because of the door width, right handed persons have to be careful when loading the compartment. One would normally open the door with the left hand and insert the product to be cooked with the right. When doing this, the heel of that left hand frequently contacts the fan touch button and activates it. The fan is very noisy and has four levels, so once activated it requires four button pushes to turn it off. Two levels would have been sufficient. 4. The lighting on the bottom of the unit is supposed to light up the stove top. It has two levels neither of which is bright enough! I was interested in this and touched the clear panels over the light only to find out they are very, very hot indeed. This tells me that the bulbs are probably incandescent. Why was modern bright LED lighting not provided. I keep the lights turned off as much as possible because in the long term, these bulbs will likely burn out quickly because of the heat. I can’t imagine what replacement bulbs would cost.

Do not buy, not safe, randomly turns on by itself

Do not buy! One month past warranty receiving codes A1 and A16. Having the same issue as multiple consumers, machine acts like it’s “possessed.” Randomly turns fan on, key pad works intermittently. Not safe, have to unplug for fear the machine will turn on by itself. Woke up multiple times and the fan is blowing all by itself in high. Out of warranty now. With this many customers having the same issue this has to be a manufacturer defect.

Unfortunately mine died after 6 days of use and was fixed under warranty within a week of calling Samsung. I will recommend purchasing an extended warranty because the soldered fuse tends to to go out on these units fairly quickly.

The normal sized microwave left little space between the bottom of the microwave and the oven. This slim microwave fits the space better and works just as good as a normal sized over the range microwave. The WiFi capabilities are very cool as well!

slim design with great features

I especially love the cooking & heating presets, and the fan has 4 speeds which makes it helpful when cooking. The Wi-Fi feature was nice, and it easily connected Alexa. However, I will say it was on the pricier side when I was budgeting for a microwave but it does fit my needs. There are some unnecessary functions that people may or may not use on the daily, mostly people use the microwave to heat things up quickly. I love the slim design as it makes it easy to cook on my stovetop underneath and safe for my kids because shorter people will have a hard time reaching for it without using a step stool!

Extra and extra wide at the same time

Vertically slim, but horizontally extra wide door hits you in the face when you open it. It’s even wider than a regular microwave door because it is the full width of the oven, the entire front of the oven is the door. It swings extra far out taking up excess space as it opens. If it was truly space saving it would open upwards, like a hatchback but as it is, the door takes up too much space, like a 2 door sedan in a tight parking spot. Terrible design.

Issues with the microwave: 1. The door has to be pulled out to open it, there is no ‘open’ button. Worried the microwave may come off the wall. 2. Button on the panel are not lighted so difficult to see at nite even with kitchen lights on. Flash lite gas to be used. Company needs to improve on these difficult features.

I've had my kitchen redone, everything fit well and the microwave specs were used to design all the cabinet. We've installed the microwave and all fits pretty well..... until I opened it. Yes, the microwave is 30 inches wide, but to open the door correctly you need an additional 1 1/2 inch on the side where the door open. If you have a wall, then the cabinet wall, then the microwave, it's not enough. The specs are not mentioning this at all. Result? I need to try to sell back that micro wave and buy another one. I've looked at other brand since then, and they all are built like fridges : you need 1/2 inch to open the door.
