Q: are the brakes pre assemble on this modle to the frame
submitted by aj - 2 years ago
A: Hi Aj, Great question. All of our products will have the brake assemblies pre-assembled on the bike. Although we always recommend making proper adjustments in reference to the owner manual before your first ride, and regularly throughout use. Best Regards,

Q: Hi, I am 5'5. Will this bike be comfortable for me? Will I be able to pedal comfortably? Is the seat adjustable for someone 5'5?
Thank you.
submitted by S - 3 years ago

Q: What specific models of rear mounted racks for panniers would work with this bike? Most (including Schwinn's) seem to require different mounts below the seat than the Addison has.
submitted by Addison Help - 3 years ago
A: Hello there! We are sorry to say that we have not tested any aftermarket racks to confirm what will fit this model. We would recommend reaching out to your local bike shop who may have experience installing aftermarket racks. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I bought this bike and after a month of moderate use the pedal broke and came off from the crank. Now I'm trying to repair the bike, but good luck trying to find replacement parts and taking it to a shop is not worth it since the repair costs more than the bike. Absolutely do not buy!

So glad I landed this bike even though it's listed as being out of stock online and in stores. Bike fits me perfectly I am 5'9" Found it in a local store and was immediately taken with it. Stylish and simple in gray with brown seat and handlebars. 7 gears is all I need for commuting and traveling around town. Buyers often seem to make the mistake that a store assembled bike is going to be a perfectly tuned bike. This is not the case especially for a lower-end bike. I tuned the brakes myself and everything else seems to be functioning quite well. I will get a lot of mileage out of this baby. Target should bring this one back if at all possible.

Solid bike for the price, not the lightest. 7 speeds are enough, and it's a great city bike. Easily adjustable.

AMAZING QUALITY FOR PRICE! This bike has a lower price but it has the quality of a 500-600$ bike. Now the back brake at least on mine is a bit weaker but the front brake makes up for it.
1 reply from SchwinnCustomerSupport team - 4 years ago
Hi there! We appreciate your review! It sounds like that back brake may need an adjustment. The Addison has linear-pull brakes, and Parktool.com is a great resource for video tutorials on how to make brake adjustments. For further assistance, you can also reach out to our Customer Care Center at 800-626-2811 Monday-Friday 7 am-6 pm CST. Thanks for your valuable feedback!-Jamie

Poorly assembled. Stripped screw in brake lever (need to replace). Makes knocking sound every time I pedal (so need to have that fixed). Brakes were poorly tuned.

Unfortunately, I bought this item two times. Once in the store and the second online. The first time I bought it, the brakes were not installed correctly. I then took it back and ordered it online to have built in the store. The second time, the breaks didn’t even work. I don’t know if it was the product or the person building the bike, but I was very disappointed.
1 reply from SchwinnCustomerSupport team - 5 years ago
Hi, Whenever buying a bike, initial brake adjustments need to be made. Instructions on how to make these adjustments are located in the owner's manual or on online video platforms. If after adjustments you still feel the brakes are not working, reach out to us. We want to remedy this for you and get you back out on the road. 1 (800) 626-2811 or www.customerservice@pacific-cycle.com. Thanks, Jessie

Front wheel fell off while riding bike while only 1 month old, VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION and injuries sustained

Blaine - 5 years ago, Verified purchaser
Let me start by saying that I am so glad that my kids and I were wearing helmets, I will never ride a bike again without one after this incident. I purchased this bike about one month ago and was overall very happy with it. I noticed that the 7th gear never worked (it would click the whole time), so was going to bring it in for an exchange. Tonight I was riding the bike with my 2 small children in the bike trailer behind me and out of no where THE FRONT WHEEL COMPLETELY FELL OFF while riding on a completely flat bike path. I purchased the bike assembled from my local target and had never taken the wheel off, so this was definitely not user error. With the tire missing, the front of the bike plowed into the pavement causing my head to crash into the pavement while also scraping my face, arms and shoulders. My Apple watch is scraped and my new Rayban sun glasses protected my face from even more scrapes. I am a bloody, bruised and sore mess tonight and I know tomorrow is only going to be more painful. This extremely dangerous situation for me and my children was due to a defective product, poor design with the bike or negligence on the part of the staff member that assembled this bike. In addition to the injuries my watch, sunglasses, helmet and bike are also ruined. We are very loyal customers of Target and I certainly hope that Target will make this situation right for me and my family. I will update my review with any updates.

Schwinn Addison 28" bike
3 out of 5 stars
Tim - 6 years ago, Verified purchaser
This bike was already assembled (display model) when I bought it online. Pickup was a breeze. I did have to completely reassemble the handlebars and brake cables because it was not done correctly. Also replaced the paper thin seat immediately. These Schwinn bikes are much more cheaply built than back in the day, but for what it's use will be and the price I am satisfied.

I love this bike! I got it primarily to ride around the city, it's great because it has gears but still rides very comfortably. I bought it in-store so it was already assembled, but I played around with the brakes some and they're easy to adjust. I am a 5'6 female, I'm not the strongest, but I can still lift and maneuver the bike by myself. Seems good for commuting and riding around town, the seat is comfortable and the ride is smooth.

Thanks for your feedback on the Addison. These styles bikes aren't to everyone's fit. We'd be happy to help find the right size and style bike for you. Please give us a call at 800-626-2811 Monday-Friday 8am-5pm CST. Any of our reps can review bike sizing and styles guides with you. The brakes are adjusted at the factory, although from shipment and assembly there is an initial alignment adjustment needed. The manual goes over the full details for getting those brakes working properly. Any of our team members can help with those adjustments and look into any issues. Thank you.
