Scotch Sure Start Shipping Packaging Tape, 1.88 x 900 Inches, Clear, Pack of 6

I wanted to like this tape. Was very pleased with the thickness, the feel and it did unroll easily. HOWEVER, like most of the negative reviews, it does not stick! How can anything sticky not stick to cardboard??? Somehow this doesn't. If you are shipping anything, do not trust this tape. If you're trying to seal anything besides cardboard, like a plastic shipping tote/crate, etc..., forget about it. It will not stay on before it arrives to its destination. I have to run multiple full circumferential strips of tape to seal a cardboard box and then run strips perpendicular to tape the tape and then cross my fingers. I have taped a shipping label printed on regular paper to a shipping tote by completely covering the label and it was lost because the label came off. The only reason it was found was because of the little tag that FedEx puts on packages with pre-printed labels. Great feel and strength but just doesn't stick.

I’ve been using Scotch tapes most of my life. This “sure start” tape is the first line I could never recommend! It sticks to paper just fine and is very easy to pull off the roll- BUT it does NOT stick to itself! Any slight bump or roll over will pull off all tape that has been taped to another piece of tape. I purchase approximately ten 6 packs per year. This “sure start” is cheaper but is also CHEAP- JUNK. Buy only the red or blue rolls. Heavy Duty is the best!!!

This was on sale and I bought it seal shipping boxes. I made up a stack of boxes the started filling them and the tape is separating from the boxes before there’s even anything in them. Also, when I put it on the tape gun, I keep pulling out too long a strip because it pulls off the tape wheel too easily. It’s making shipping take longer because I have to check every seam and readhere it.

This product is no good. The guide tabs are too far from the blade, which means that the tape keeps falling away from the blade and having to be reset. I don't understand how anyone can like this product.

I've had this for years and still struggle with which way the roll of tape is supposed to face in the dispenser. I eventually figure it out and then forget by the time the next roll is needed. How about a video on scotch brand.com?

Everytime I applied this to my package the tape lifted off and would not stick. Its advertised as a great shipping tape.

I too have had strong faith is 3M products since that was pretty much the norm in our household since I was a child. I also use to work for a packaging company in Minnesota & I found they were extremally caring about how our packaging quality was. So I have been using their packaging tape for my shipments to customers for several years & this "sure start" is just horrible & doesn't stick to most cardboard boxes. I'm done as I don't have time to worry if my shipment is going to make it without loss. I don't know where it is made, but I hope you look into your quality control before everyone stops buying your products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What an improvement. I think we’re all used to online ordering. However, despite our best intentions some things still need to be returned. This tape starts easy even if I miss the end. It’s a one pass wonder. No more making multiple passes to seal up the packages. The dispenser has a nice sharp blade to cut the end. So glad to have received this free product in exchange for my review.

This tape is easy to use as far as getting it off the spool but it DOESN'T stick to the box. I used this product and by the time I got to Fedex for shipping they made me re wrap and repackage because the tape would not stay attached to the package. I took the brand new roll and threw it away. Duct products work much better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used several tape dispensers and this is by far the smoothest one I’ve ever used. The tape pulls out very smoothly. It doesn’t stick to itself as you are reeling it out. It also adheres to surfaces very well. There is a little tab to put the cut end on so that it doesn’t go back onto the roll where it’s impossible to get it started again. I highly recommend this tape and dispenser.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product to ship a box to a friend. It was a heavier quality tape that was easier to use than others I have used! I was able to find the end easier to get it started again and it tore easily. The only part was lifting it, it tore at the end and some got wasted but less than with other tapes. It was also quieter, which may sound weird but my son has some sensory issues and does not like the sound made by other tapes. I will definitely use again (I ship often!).

It seems the dispenser with the handle is easier to use. I do love the tape itself. It was quiet when I rolled it across the box and easy to roll.

The adhesive is strong, the tape is thick, and I had no fear that the package would accidentally open in the mail. The "quiet unroll" feature was nice, too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tape is perfect width to seal boxes. Two of my children leave in different cities so I am always sending something to one of them. Tape is sticky enough to withstand abuse from package delivery personnel. Tape is priced well.

It comes with a tab at then beginning that you remove to start taping - I just left it hanging on the end and cut the tape where I needed it for my box. The tape left in the plastic holder hasn't gotten stuck back to the roll so I can't say much about whether or not it split. The best part for me is that unrolling the tape onto my box was almost completely silent - that awful sound that is synonymous with using packing tape wasn't there! All I could here was the sound of the roll unwinding in the holder. I probably wouldn't even have noticed that if I wasn't listening for a sound. Great product!

I needed some packaging tape, so this product came along at exactly the right time! Unfortunately, I cannot give it a 5 star review. It was not "Sure Start", and I had to struggle to get the tape started and inserted into the dispenser. The packaging tape did unwind quiet and easy, and it was sturdy for my packages. I'd definitely recommend this product!
