With antimicrobial properties, this gingivitis toothpaste for sensitive teeth also removes plaque bacteria associated with gingivitis to help reduce swollen, bleeding gums. Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum toothpaste has a low abrasion cavity protection formula to protect your teeth against tooth decay. Q: I've been told that sensitive toothpastes should have potassium nitrate. Am I wrong? This product only mentions sodium flouride as an active ingreedient.

Beware the chemical changes

I've been a loyal sensodyne user for many years, until recently, using mainly the Pronamel line of pastes. My last purchase, I decided I'd try the Sensitivity & Gum toothpaste. Whooo-eeee was that a mistake on my part. The chemical make up of this paste is different than the pronamel, and my mouth was in terrible shape! Coincidentally I also changed my diet at the same time as switching toothpastes, but because I was still using Sensodyne, I assumed the diet was the issue. My gums screamed at me with every brushing, they cut open at even the gentlest wipe of my toothbrush, my teeth felt "loose", and I had blisters along the inside of my lips. For the last several months I've been adjusting things in my diet to make a change, and nothing changed. Two days ago, a lightbulb moment happened, and I went out to get myself my "old" toothpaste (Sensodyne Pronamel Gentle Whitening). Already a huge difference. sores are healed, I'm back to brushing without bleeding or pain, AND the flavor's better too (Alpine Breeze for the win)! I wish there was some notice or warning that the formulas were so different - who looks at active ingredients in toothpaste?

I've used it a few times and at first the sensation on my gums was different than anything I've used. After about a week, my mouth is irritated and I was looking at reviews & I'll switch out now.

I have used many sensodyne before and this one for some reason caused irritation as soon as i put it in my mouth. I just went through the reviews and it looks like i'm not alone, sorted by "most recent" and all the reviews in the past year were one star. Are we having a bad batch? I am going to stop using it immediately and consult my dentist.

I’ve used other Sensodyne toothpaste in the past without any issues and decided to try this one a couple of weeks ago because I have some issues with receding gums. About a week and a half ago, I thought I brushed too hard or accidentally turned up my water flosser too high because my gums started to become really irritated. Then I started to have canker like sores on my lips. Then sores on my tongue and under my tongue. I was in so much pain and absolutely miserable. I couldn’t eat and only wanted to drink ice cold water. I couldn’t sleep at night because of the pain from the sores in my mouth. I’m exhausted but can’t drink coffee because the acidity makes the sores burn. Flossing and brushing my teeth was pure agony. I have tried everything I could find online to offer relief (salt water rinses, special mouthwash, avoiding acidic foods, over the counter products for canker sores, lip repair treatments, etc) and to try to make the mouth sores go away, but they kept popping up more and more. One recommendation online said to avoid toothpaste with SLS. I was pretty sure that wasn’t in Sensodyne, but I googled Sensodyne and SLS. After reading the reviews on this toothpaste, it made me realize that it is likely the cause of my misery for the last 2 weeks. I absolutely do not recommend this product and strongly believe it should no longer be sold.

Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Mint is a great toothpaste! It gently cleans, reduces tooth sensitivity, and cares for the gums. Refreshing mint flavor, nice texture, and leaves a clean feeling. I use it regularly and have noticed less sensitivity. Definitely recommend!

Like a number of other people who've posted here, I had a reaction to the toothpaste even though I've used other sensodyne products for years. It made my gums swollen and painful. A bit ironic given it's supposed make gums less painful.

Sensodyne has been a game-changer for me! I’ve always struggled with sensitive teeth—cold drinks, hot coffee, and even sweet treats used to make me wince. Since switching to Sensodyne, I’ve noticed a huge difference. The relief is almost immediate, and with consistent use, my sensitivity has significantly reduced. Not only does it protect my teeth, but it also leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean, which is a bonus.

Made my gums burn and feel sore, went to the dentist thinking something was wrong and they couldn’t find anything. Stopped using this toothpaste and eventually the feeling went away. Ran out of my usual and started using this again and immediately the burning sensation came back!!! Never had any issues with toothpaste before but I will definitely not be repurchasing this.

however Sensodyne products have been well known but WATCH OUT! they can cause extreme gum hyper sensitivity or allergy which is one of the rarest and severest one in medicine which is hard to treat with swelling, bleeding in an extent that need to taking biopsy and make you burden a lot of cost( which came up to me!). I think it is because ,there are a lot of advertisement behind them by dentists ( unfortunately) and people trust them and it may hurt people's health .
