A: On the top lid, there is a silver slide lock. To securely lock and unlock the lid, slide lock in or out.

Q: What do you recommend to clean the outside plastic part of this can? Dawn spray foam was recommended for a prior plastic trash can and it left it looking dinghy. I love the mocha & want it perfect!

A: For correct installation: 1. Insert vertical rod into middle portion on lid. 2. Lay lid onto can in the closed position. Make sure hinges on lid and can are properly aligned. Tip: Press on lock to ensure lid is secured to body of can. 3. Hold front of can down near silver lock and push down on one hinge until it snaps into place. 4. Snap other hinge into place.

Just like many others on here, I want to like this. In fact, this is the 2nd one I’ve bought. The first lasted many years but as several other reviewers have said, the lid started popping off. We thought it was because our kids were being too rough with the pedal. I ended up buying another and in less than a year, it’s happening again. And now, without hardly any force on the pedal, the lid pops off the hinges. Guess I should have read these reviews before buying another one. Really disappointing because now I’ll need to buy a new trashcan. And it won’t be this one for a 3rd time!

Bought for the lid locking feature! We have curious toddlers and dogs. The lid didn’t stay on after the first two weeks! More of a hassle to remember if you locked it or out the lid back on.

We were in need of a trash can, but I was a little hesitant to purchase this one because of some of the negative reviews. Not experiencing some of the issues that others reported. Like the bar in the back that keeps it off the wall. Our previous trash can used to slide back whenever we stepped to open it. Also like that there isn't much of a rim that can get messy like our last trash can.

We've had plastic step trash cans in our kitchen for years, over time the connecting points in the back always seem to crack/malfunction over time. This trash can is great, and you can tell the mechanism connecting the lid to the step function is made of more of a metal, not just standard "click in" plastic lid. I recommend this one, it's worth the extra spend.

Our 14 lb dog is very smart, and we hadn't been able to keep her out of the trash. We learned that even with this one, we need to keep it locked. This evening we were out, and came home to find that she had somehow dragged it into the living room, pulled and chewed on the top of the bag, but COULDN'T GET IT OPEN! Highly recommended.

The lid pops off about once a week. It’s a pain to get back on. I am avoiding this brand in hunt for another trash can. I see why people spend 200$ on a trash can. I just want one that works and I can have it for years

I hate this trash can this brand sucks. Lid will not stay on after making serval attempts to refasten it to the hooks. Once you press the foot pedal the trash lid come off. Bad design and poor craftsmanship from this brand. Never will I buy anything else with this company name attached to it.

The lid pops off every time you go to open the garbage can. After reattaching it still takes a couple times of adjusting it to close again properly, and then disconnects after opening again. FRUSTRATING especially after spending $60 and this being a well known brand.

With only two people in our household, this trash can broke within 6 months of using it. We take care of our things, only using the pedal normally to open the lid. The lid hinge would constantly come off, causing it to not open with the pedal and need to be snapped back on. We continued to use this for another 4 months just snapping the one side back on as we did not have the means to replace it. So after 10 months of use, both sides started to pop off making the trashcan unusable unless you lifted the lid yourself, when the point of a trash can with a pedal opener is that you don’t have to touch the lid.

This was a replacement for our other plastic round (exactly the same) that lasted us over 10 years! It’s able to lock, slow close, the lid can be propped open and it fits regular trash bags (which was important, since we go through a lot)! We love this trash can, it’s simple and easy to use. Looks great in the kitchen and withstands a lot of wear and tear without me worrying about dings or dents like the other stainless ones. I hope it’s still around in another 10 years if/when I need another one!

After 11 months of use, the lid keep coming off multiple times a day. Before that it would occasionally come off every few weeks but now it is unusable. Disappointing lifespan for the price and the brand.
