Q: Does this product keep ice pretty well insulated? Or does ice have to be taken out often?

A: The ice melts after a while and remakes itself so as long as you leave the ice part on it will keep remaking ice when it gets low

Wife love the ice maker. She read instructions, prepared it for first use and has been using it regularly everyday since it arrived. No more stopping at Sonics, Jacks, and other places to buy chewable ice. Bonus, it arrived a day early, before Valentine's Day. I am the man who bought my wife an ice maker for Valentines. Best idea I had in a long time. Works great, not loud at all, more like a hum of goodness.

After reading the reviews I was skeptical but knew this was style of ice maker I was looking for. I waited a few weeks to write this review to see how I liked it. 5 stars!!! Very quiet while making ice and zero noise once ice basket is full. Located near window direct sunlight and still nothing melted. The ice pellets are exactly like sonic, soft.

What a trick little unit! Fits nice on the kitchen counter top. You get ice in like 7 minutes, and it’s virtually silent. Easy to operate. The drain plug is hard to get out, but other then that, it’s good.

So far it makes ice faster than the one I had to replace due to overheating. This ice maker is smaller than my previous unit and the basket on this ice maker is way smaller but overall I have been able to fill up 2 reusable 5 lb bags to keep in my deep freezer. As for the other reviews saying it’s loud it is not it is alot more quiet than my previous ice maker but the noise is not noticeable. I love the removable water tank so easy to fill and clean.

At first, I was worried that the water "tank", if you will, would not refil itself after the ice melts, but it is not a problem. I love the way the ice sounds in my tumbler. I know, it’s lame, but there it is.

I usually prefer the Simzlife Nugget ice, but it's still great to have extra ice on hand, especially when hosting guests or during the holidays. This one makes the bullet-shaped ice with a hollow center since it freezes around metal rods. It works really well and produces a good amount of ice daily. We just keep it plugged in all the time.

When my husband and I bought our house years ago, it came with a fridge and an extremely noisy ice maker. We got sick of our narrow refrigerator doors and recently bought a new Frigidaire fridge with full wide length fridge/freezer doors and no ice maker.
