Q: Is the center magnetic or metal? I’m wanting to mount an iPad Mini to a magnetic mount that’s less than 1 inch in diameter in my car. Thx!
A: No, the center is not magnetically strong enough to mount to. The outer ring has very strong magnets to mount to Magsafe/Qi2/steel, but the center is mostly plastic w/ small magnets to close the cap.

Snap 4 Luxe Magnetic Phone Grip utilizes a combination of magnetic attachment and adhesive, depending on the situation: MagSafe Compatibility: It is designed to be MagSafe compatible, meaning it can magnetically attach to iPhones with MagSafe capabilities or MagSafe compatible cases. Adhesive Assistance: It also utilizes a "nano-adhesive assisted" system. This means that while it is magnetic, it can also use adhesive to provide a more secure hold. This is especially useful for: Phones or cases that are not MagSafe compatible. When using the grip with magnetic mounts or other metal surfaces, where the phone's internal magnets might not be strong enough on their own. Also ohsnap sells replacement adhesive kits.
