I bought these to replace my old XM4s as one developed a battery problem. I had them for a while so I guess I had my moneys worth out of them. The XM5s are great and are a typical Sony excellent product. The sound quality is very good, the control system has changed slightly from the XM4s but is still easy once you get used to it.

I bought mine a little over 14 months ago as I needed a smaller alternative to my over the head 1000XM3 which I love still though they are held together with tape now but still sound delicious. Positives: The sound is excellent though I do advise you to give them a few hours of play to let them fully settle in and bass become richer. Great balance between the treble, mids and bass, though you might want to use the customizing equaliser (part of the app) to tweak the sound to the way like the balance With 3 different sizes of ear buds you'll find one that fits correctly for your ear The software (app) is excellent and very easy to use, I especially use the equalizer function Charging is fast and convenient and the charge has a pretty long life. For me, the main selling point is the noise cancelling, which is second to none and as a frequent flyer on long haul flights they have been a saviour of many sleepless nights Cons: As a user of Sony headphones for many years XM3 / XM4 / XM5. I have now had the same problem with both my XM4 & XM5 ear buds at the 14 month stage. On both occasions I have lost 90% of volume in the left ear for no apparent reason. Sony after service have helped with many suggestions on how I may reset the ear buds but to no avail. Maybe I have been unlucky to have two pairs that have failed in the same way. As I write this review I'm in the process of talking to Sony about a way forward which will hopefully restore my XM5's to their former glory.

Sound great but the earbud battery lasts a year then dead. Sony warranty won't cover the battry replacement. Stay away if you want them longer than a year...

I do find these bulky not as comfortable as some cheaper ones I have. However, the sound is good and noise cancellation is good. I don’t always hit them in the right place but not too awkward. still getting used to them. They haven’t fell out although the end came off once when I removed one. Connection is good no trouble there and good for running in- battery is excellent - I want to try on a plane next. The app is limited compared to others I have but it has what I need.

My headphones started having connection issues within a year. Definitely not worth the price. The customer service was the worst I’ve ever dealt with - they kept asking the same questions over and over, like they were trying to make me give up. Stay away from Sony!

I am very disappointed in the ANC on these buds, especially when compared to my old WF-900N pair. I've tried all of the available sizes of the tips and tried the "analyze ear shape" in the sound connect app. In addition, they often don't automatically connect to Google Assistant when I insert them. I have to go to the app on my phone and connect from there. Can't recommend these at all.

The sound is great but the listening experience is ruined with incredibly poor stability of the connection. I’ve tried so many setting in the app but nothing improves it. Sound randomly drops between one ear and the other, only momentarily for no reason, completely interrupting any music being played. I’ve had better streaming experiences with much cheaper headphones

They are bulky and hurt my ears when worn for any length of time. I also don't like that you can't turn off the touch feature. The sound was excellent, and voice quality was good, both incoming and outgoing.

The sound quality is excellent and it is especially good for classical music. My only gripe is that, although the noise cancelling is good it is not as good as my previous Sony WF1000X earbuds which I cancelled out all the ambient sounds even in the noisy London Tube.

I had purchased this one expecting for high end sound quality and features. All was perfectly working for about two months and thereafter I started noticing mic problems and connectivity problems with the earbuds. It was quite disappointing when the buds started randomly disconnecting both buds during playback. Initially I thought it was the stereo effect and paid no attention for this issue. Thereafter when I listened to the same genres with my AirPods I noticed that there is something wrong with the buds then I started monitoring. Thereafter during calls based on my experience and the feedback from the receiver, the mic was found faulty. So I decided to send ot for repair but I got it repaired almost waiting for 1 month and again the issue wasn’t fixed. I again sent them for repairs and waiting. It’s not worth wait this much.
