Horrendous product for pumping mothers. I started my pumping journey with the Elvie wearables, then changed to the spectra because I got mastitis from not emptying my breasts fully without a hospital grade suction. These cara cups empty my equally to my elvie. Meaning if I continue to use them I will definitely end up with mastitis again. It took me double the amount of time to pump 2/3 the amount of usual milk and now I have to go back and pump again. One use and I’m DONE. Waste of my time and money.

They leak, bad. Like out the sides even though they are together correctly. They also don’t express much milk even if you use the correct flange size. I maybe got 30% of my output with these. I’m stuck with this item and wish I would have spent the money on something else. I’ve tried to return to target, they said I have to contact the company. I contacted spectra and they do not respond back to me. So, don’t waste your money. Learn from my mistake.

Output for these cups is just as good as the standard hanging bottle set up. Because they’re totally see through, you can make sure your nipple is aligned correctly. They’re a little tricker to clean & assemble, but these saved me from having to buy a bunch of expensive pumping bras. Yay!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! It's fantastic to know that the CaraCups have been instrumental in helping you effectively pump milk, as well as being able to use your own bras. Wishing you all the best in your breastfeeding journey and beyond! Happy pumping!

Definitely not worth it! I like my Spectra pump, but these cups are way too big to fit in any bra, and with any tank top/cami it's just uncomfortable because they won't stay up. I had already taken mine out of the package (and boiled and cleaned) so I couldn't return them, and never used them so it is really unfortunate. Would rather put the money towards and Elvie or something similar.

Was able to connect these to a different brand portable pump too! Which was super exciting for me as an exclusive pumper. Are comfortable to wear inside almost any bra. Dislikes- too many pieces to wash. Took two tries to figure out to make them work properly. Wish I could see measurements wise somewhere how much I’m pumping. Still 5 star worthy!

CaraCups for the win

I have been using CaraCups along with my Spectra S1 for about 4 months. They have allowed me to pump while working from home and even while traveling. Some people suggest that this type of pump accessory can lower your supply but this has not been the case for me. I have been able to feed my son and have 2500oz of stored milk already. These have been my best investment! My only complaint is that there are a lot of pieces to clean. I use straw cleaning tools to get into the small crevices.

Convenient to be hands free but too many finnicky parts

4 out of 5 stars
CM - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
The cups are much more convenient than the regular flanges as far as being hands free but there are a lot of pieces to put together which needs to be done just right for it to work properly and then washing everything is time consuming. No issues with milk supply with these but I only use them once a day right now.

These cups were so easy to wear just inside my nursing bras! I had issues with suction on pumping bras and this was very easy to use with my Spectra S1. Only downsides are there are a lot more parts to clean and they take up a lot of the drying rack and difficult to pour into bottles (potential spill). They are still worth it and I highly recommend!

happy mama - 3 years ago, Verified purchaser
I have been using these for about 6 months and pump about 3 times a day while at work. They are seriously a game changer. I hate pumping bras and having to have your shirt up for the traditional pumping setup. These you just pop right in your bra. It is very discreet. I also recommend going for the S9 so you can pop it in your pocket and walk around. I hated the cara cups at first though -there is a learning curve - but I am glad I kept it up. It is a little tricky to learn how to put it together at first and if you don't do it JUST RIGHT you will have no suction and have to take the whole thing apart, which takes forever! But after about a week of very frustrating use I finally figured out a system to put it together easily. Some users mention you have to wash all the backflow parts each time, which I agree is a pain, but you don't have to wash all the bottles like the traditional pumping setup, so it's probably about the same overall. I do wish they had measuring lines on the side of the cups so you know how much you pumped - that would be my one suggestion for the manufacturer to improve. I have started using a measuring cup and milk bags so I don't have to wash all the bottes each time. I do recommend replacing all the flanges and the backflow membrane about once a month to keep up the suction if you pump regularly. Overall, I really like them and they are well worth the cost and the hassle of washing parts.

The Spectra Cara cups are something that I did not know I needed. With a newborn and a toddler, I could not find the time to pump. But now I can do my daughters hair, wash bottles, play with both of them and do chores around the home. And most of all I had a better output than using the regular collecting bottles. The only downside is that they are very noticiable, but I just wear a scarf.

I really wanted to like this since I like the concept but I was very disappointed. It made me very engorged because it wouldn’t suction out the milk like my regular bottles would..I tried pumping with us for two days during the day at the end of the night when I used my bottles I had 8 ounces left in each breast when I normally pump 3 ounces each session. don’t waste your money on this

These are amazing! I have to pump 3-4 times a day at work which is exhausting. I hate dealing with the pump bra/bottles process and feeling like I can’t do anything other than pump and wait. These insert directly in the bra and have just as much suction and milk output. These will be amazing on the go in the car, etc. Agree with other reviews that there are a lot of parts to clean, but I don’t mind this. I’d rather spend a little more time cleaning than being uncomfortable pumping. Also, I’ve read some reviews that it’s difficult to pour milk out, I use the back side of one of the cups as a funnel to pour into bags/bottles and it works perfectly. I think these are awesome and a much more affordable option compared to Willow/Elvie. Highly recommend if you hate pumping bras and hanging bottles like me!

Not only are these difficult to use but also time consuming and expensive. Specific complaints as follows 1. Extremely time consuming to assemble, clean, and disassemble 2. Difficult to pour from cups to storage bags 3. No measurement lines to quantify amount of milk pumped

Love the Spectra Cara cups!

They're certainly not mobile as you're still attached to a station, but since I work at my desk anyway I don't mind. I've heard with the Elvie you can't really bend down, otherwise milk would spill so it's not like I can pump and take care of my LO at the same time. The Cara cups feel so much better than dangling bottles, and the output is the same because it uses the same motor. Just be careful when you take them out of the bras (any nursing bras would work, just gotta make sure they're not too tight) as they can spill if you flip them upside down (the side attached to the tubing always faces up). Parts are not more complicated than the traditional flanges set up and don't take longer to clean. Flanges come in the standard 24mm and 28mm. Downside is you can't really see how much you've pumped unless you take a flash light and shine it onto your bras lol. They are expensive but overall worth it, and if you have FSA account, they are eligible.

This is soooooo helpful! I can actually get something done while pumping- take note that the directions say to sit up while pumping so that you won’t have to worry about milk leaking- I followed the directions with assembly and use and have had no trouble. The suction feels the same as when I was using the regular flanges if not even better. Again, so very thankful I decided to get this-was skeptical at first. FYI there are a few things to take apart to clean and then reassemble.

Pumping into the bottles works for me.

I'm aware you can just pump into the cups so no one can see you actually pumping milk but for me (luckily I work from home) I think it's a lot easier to use these for pumping straight into the milk bottles and tossing them into the fridge. Pretty versatile system though. I like how everything is clear so you can monitor and see everything happening.
