Saved my fish almost instantly!

I bought this fish medication 4 days ago as my goldfish was suddenly super lethargic and just laying at the bottom of his tank for a few days. After he didn’t naturally bounce back, I noticed red streaks in his tail, bottom fins, and red spots under his belly. After one day of use my fish was up swimming as normal, and after 3 days, his spots and streaks are already gone! I can’t stress enough that I thought my fish was on his last leg… after using this product he now seems more healthy and happier than he’s ever been! Can’t recommend enough!
Saved my Betta

I purchased this from my local pet shop because my betta was showing signs of fin rot, lethargy and decreased appetite. I thought he was on the verge of dying. After reading some of the reviews here I was apprehensive because some people found negative effects and their fish died. Finally, it came to the point where if I didn’t do something my betta would die, so it was either try it and it kill him or he would die anyways. I removed the shrimp and live plants from the aquarium, did a complete water change and began treatment. I realized why people had adverse effects. These tablets will spike ammonia. This is why it states on the box “Not for use in a new tank.” They should word it “Not for use in a non-cycled tank” because I think some of the negative reviewers may have not understood why was meant by “new tank”. Since it spikes ammonia a bit, if the tank isn’t cycled and have an established colony of nitrifying bacteria then there is nothing to keep the ammonia in check. It will build up and that’s what will kill the fish… not the tablets themselves. However, you don’t actually need a cycled tank. As long as you keep dosing something to decrease the ammonia (I used Seachem Stability) then the ammonia will be kept in check. I did this because I’ve been having issues to get my tank cycled. Bonus is that due to the ammonia spikes and adding nitrifying bacteria to the tank during treatment, it actually helped cycle my tank!!! 2 for 1 I guess. End result: My betta is now super active. His colour and fins are coming back vibrantly. He has a huge appetite now and he is so happy he’s even making bubble nests again! I 110% recommend this product and give it 11/10!

We used this product to treat fin rot in our fish last week, specifically 6 platy fish. Unfortunately, within 24 hours of applying the product, 5 of the fish died. We followed the instructions diligently.

Cured Red Spot Disease

My albino cordyrora (catfish) started showing red spots all over his body. Some were bigger than others. After researching and discovering it was red spot disease and likely fatal, I almost decided not to even try saving him because previous attempts at medicating sick fish with different medications rarely worked. For example, I've come to believe that both melafix and pimafix are equivalent to snake oil, never cured anything and all infected fish died when I used either of these products. Anyhow, I decided to try life guard and attempt to save my fish, and Im glad I did as this product was effective and cured my fish, but it took longer than the 5 day treatment period.... First, I placed my sick fish in a two gallon, aerated bowl. I then split one pill in half, grinded it up, dissolved it with a spot of water, and then poured dissolved pill into his 2 Gallon sick tank. I did this for a total of 10 days, double the recommended treatment period. I completely changed the water in sick tank every 3 days due to longer treatment period, as I was concerned 10 days without water change might be toxic due to ammonia and medication build up. I did 10 days because although he showed no spots after five days, when I put him back in tank, the spots began to appear again within. 24 hours. Consequently, I put the fish back in sick tank and resumed treatment for another 5 days. I'm happy to say that after 10 days treatment, my fish is showing no signs of red spot disease and is active and thriving. I'm glad I didn't just throw in the towel and gave this product a try because it saved my little buddy when almost all info on red spot disease said he would probably die.
My fish is dying.

We have had Bob our goldfish for close to four years now. We noticed he started to have fungus on his fins and what looked like fin rot. A white film covering his eyes. After the second day of treatment, Bob is back being active and happy. The fungus and the fin rot have completely disappeared. This is an amazing product and I recommend it to anyone thank you Tetra!! You saved our friend.

I have seen lots of reviews regarding fungal infections but my swordtails are suffering from now bacterial infection and what I think might be gill flukes but not completely sure (flashing with no signs of white spots after just over two weeks, lethargic and hanging around the outlet) have lost a few fish over the last few weeks. I am on day two of the treatment following the instructions and not yet seen any change, does this medication help gill flukes or should I be trying something else? I have owned fish for 19 years and never had an issue like this where many illnesses has hit all in one go.

This needs to be put on the box! Have been so stressed out over my daughter's sick betta all week - we took him out of the large tank put him in his own 5 gal tank. (He was over fed when we were on vacation and is suffering from fin rot/nitrate poisoning)He was doing a bit better but still sick/aquarium salts wernt helping so figured I would go buy medication. Get home prepare tank give first dose as per directions start reading the questions and answers to find out it shouldn't have been used! 6 hrs later check my water and my nitrogens up so it's midnight here and now I have to do a partial waterchange and stress about the water quality all night, and figure out what I need to do to clean the tank/prepare for a different med. I think it would be a great product has great reviews but it is missing the very important warning on the front or even back of the box - I'm worried now I may have caused more harm then good

I consider myself a seasoned aquarist keeper. Being in the hobby since, well seven- I got my first comet. From there, I was under their fins. I experimented with betta breeding, fancy guppy, and more. I have everything from a grouchy old oscar, Jack, who thinks his aquarium swim stalking will eventually bring him attention to delicate, fancy guppy. I have been plagued by it all at some point. Many other X brands had failed me- with my current case- a set of angels in desperate edge of death after losing four in a row and symptoms escalating overnight (not columnaris- a gram negative disease aka saddleback etc) this medication has him unclamped- showing male dominance and chasing- (his “armpits are still red” and no longer swimming vertically. The others accepted blood worms for strength and I am doing a blackout as well. They definitely have several symptoms from recently introduced angels- all whom were subject to prior quarantine. It seems each one has a different ailment and as mentioned, after 30 years of this hobby I’ve never experienced a plaque as such. It’s been approx eleven hours with a first dose in a 29 gallon (note- I left out one pill for consideration of water displacement due to decor, rock, gravel etc. I do intend to carry out the full treatment by half the next day and do an additional day of treatment due to the sensitivity of angels. Well, this was a long read- but; I do have a more simplistic one- It works- despite utilizing “the big brands” A few of these were in a used tank I bought a few years ago, I remembered them and how they worked then (goldfish) as I skimmed over my choices. For me it is working and showing significant progress within half a day. It is even showing physical improvement of the redness of gills, red fin, clamped fin, lethargy- Although still in very early treatment which again I will continue as stated above it is showing such significant improvement
Saved my platy!

My female platy had a slightly prolapsed vent, which I was monitoring and thought it was clearing up until one morning she appeared to have white fluff stuck to her. I read this was a sign of infection and usually deadly, but I treated it with Lifeguard anyway. It's taken a couple rounds of treatment, but Priti the Platy is finally swimming around again with her fins alert and not clamped, and the infection appears to be gone. I'm convinced Lifeguard saved her from what could have been a death sentence!

Hello, I am very worried... I Purchased this product because my a ran. goldfish has a fungal infection which is causing blackish spots on her pretty skin. I followed the instructions on the package exactly, turning off the light comet removing the carbon filter and dosing my 10 gallon tank with 2 tablets. Within less than an hour after introducing the product my goldfish is now floating and swimming sluggishly upsidown... this does not seem right... is this normal!? Please help!

I purchased some new fish for my already established aquarium. I was stupid and though since the all the fish in the tanks looked happy and healthy and the tanks were clean with no dead fish I shouldn't waste my time with quarantine since all that was in the tank was a betta and some tetras, nothing to fancy or expensive. Well was I wrong! Within two days, one by one the fish started developing what seemed to be a white bacteria or fungal infection and floating towards the top of the water as well as there fins appeared to be rotting away within a matter of hours. I was hesitant with medication because i had cories and loaches. I tried salt and it did not slow down the progression. The original fish remained fine even though the new ones were dropping like flies. Decided to risk it with medicine once my original fish started acting strange. Bought this since it was the only medicine Walmart carried and i am glad i did. This has not killed my cories or loaches yet and it seems to have stopped the outbreak. No others have caught it and the ones that were acting strange have perked up. Definitely try this because you cant beat saving your tank for 5 bucks!

The time response will vary, dependent on a number of factors, including your water chemistry. Regardless of how quickly they start, they should be finished and fully dissolved within half an hour or less.
