The Purple Cow Shocking Science Tricks Advent Calendar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This advent calendar is so freaking cool! I bought this for all of my kiddos to open for Christmas and I cannot hardly wait for them to open it! I have been really looking for a gift that is not just a toy and that can involve the entire family. This gift is also super hands on and incredibly educational as well! Each day you open a new science experiment and they are very easy with amazing directions and pictures. My kids are 5 6 and 8 and this is perfect for their ages! Highly recommend! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This advent calendar by The Purple Cow includes 24 shocking science tricks to help you count down the days to Christmas. My kids are 3.5 and 5.5 years old so a little young for this but since it said science activities I thought it might be fun for them still. We did a couple of the activities and they were a little interested at first but it didn't catch their attention like I thought it was. There was more prep for some activities than I would have liked and some were just magic tricks that lasted less than 2 minutes from start to finish. I was hoping for more science experiment type things. I received an incentive to write this review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought we'd have to supply more products to participate in the advent calendar but I was pleasantly surprised the company did.. even a marker that was needed. I did these with my 4 year old. Younger than they suggest so she didn't write grasp a lot of the concepts but she still had a lot of fun. Especially the "disappearing" water on Day 1. For Day 5, the fish were supposed to face the opposite way behind the water glass but they didn't (photo).. maybe because of my glass? I'm not sure. It's a fun S.T.E.M. activity set, that's simple to follow for homeschooling activities. I received an incentive to write this review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t totally sure what to expect with this advent calendar, but It has totally exceeded my expectations! It has all of the days easily, and clearly laid out, with extra days supplies needed in an envelope. It comes with a booklet that shows for every day what is to be done. Giving this to my son as a birthday gift, but I first see it being some thing my whole family will love! I received an incentive to write this review.

After the first or 2nd tricks, kids were not interested. Finally a year later we did this all in one day to get rid of it. A couple were neat but still lost interested

Perfect! My kids love it!

so i bought this for my science loving 8 year old, and after the first week or so he wasn't excited and didn't even open the days, which was really sad, and here is why: this calendar requires experiments that can take a while to put together, and also requires a bunch of extra stuff, some of which you will need to buy. we almost never had time to do the experiment in the morning, and after a while it snowballed and now there are many experiments we will need to do perhaps over Christmas break. also, it just wasn't fun to open. there is a book with each experiment in it, and you can read thru it ahead if you want, which i would advise opening it and reading thru the entire book and buying the extra stuff or preparing yourself for all of these experiments ahead of time, it might make it more fun for your kids in the future. i for one, will definitely stick to cute toy or chocolate calendars from now on. to the makers, if you read this, please update this and only do experiments that take a couple minutes, or change the age of this. it definitely required an adult and lots of extra stuff on the parents part, and truly ruined the fun of a quick advent treat in the morning.
