Q: will this kill viruses and bacteria in laundry?

A: Our detergents do not kill germs, however they are highly effective cleaning products that reach to the fiber level to wash away soils as well as prevent those soils from re-depositing on clothing through the wash. The bottom line is that the majority of household laundry does not require germ kill or antibacterial treatment. For the best, most effective clean, use the hottest water allowed by the care labels on your clothing. If needed, you can add a germ killing or anti-bacterial additive to your wash.

A: No, these do have some fragrance to them. We don't have a scentless powder anymore, but we do have a Free and Gentle Liquid and pod detergents.

I love the clean scent. I use this to brighten my white sheets, blankets, socks, t-shirts, towels, etc. I prefer powder over liquid. I feel like I'm not paying for water downed powder. I have used this for 40 years.

I love love love this powder detergent it definitely get the colors bright and the whites the whitest they can be. I use a very small amount of the scoop of this product mixed in with the liquid tide ultra detergent too for that extra gusto for my clothes for each load of clothes and towels. My clothes and towels are so much brighter and fresher and the freshness last a long time too.

Fantastic clean, even in cold water! I use this detergent for washing cloth diapers, towels and rags, and my husband's work clothes, so the dirtiest laundry, and it never fails to get everything sparkling clean. It fully dissolves and rinses away as long as you don't overload the machine. I'm not a huge fan of the scent, but it gets the job done and isn't horrible, so I'll stick with it.

This is the best detergent and the smell is good. Powder detergent is easier to dispense, less expensive and better for the environment. Powder detergent is in super-heavy-duty cardboard box, no plastic jug. There are no spills. Even if I did spill, it vacuums easily. I would never want to use a liquid detergent.

Its not the best smell but the reason i did not like it was because it wouldnt fully dissolve and it clinged to clothing and ended up bleaching my towels, so now im left buying new ones

I have been using this for over 30 years and will never change. It cleans excellently! I have tried pods and other brands but always come back to tide powder with bleach.

I've used free/gentle/clear laundry formulas for years, mostly liquids. We wanted to be more environmentally friendly and switch to powder. We've tried detergent sheets, but I don't think they clean well. In general, I'm adverse to strong scents and my kiddo has had some skin sensativities. But my wife, wanted a traditional fresh laundry scent. So we thought we'd give this a try. I found the scent strong, but tolerable. The cleaning ability was impressive, but when my kiddo clearly was having a bumpy/itchy skin reaction, we will discontinue use. Maybe, I might use a small amount to supplement detergent sheets I have. We'll see how that goes.

Love the smell but it didn’t do much for my whites. Safe on colors and I advise doing a double rinse to ensure it’s properly rinsed out of your garments before drying.
