Tide Turbo High Efficiency Powder Laundry Detergent - Original

Our clothes are clean & smell fresh. The only detergent I use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s SOOOO disappointing the new scent, its obnoxious and nauseating. Doesn’t have that clean fresh scent like it used to… Oh, how I miss the good all days :(

I do not like the new scent. I like trying other new Tide scents and then decided to go back to Original (trusted). Very surprised by new scent. After wearing my clothes, I knew my load needed to be rewashed. The smell is awful. I know something is off when my husband asks, “what’s that smell?”

Second generation of Tide consumer here. I am agreeing with the sentiment of all of the consumers who are aware that the new scent of Tide is not the same. I recall noticing the change back in the 90’s. When Spring Mountain was being announced, it was marketed as the alternative to the“original scent.” Not even close! I am nostalgic about the “Real” Original, too. I’m concerned with the allergic reactions people have been commenting on. The replies from Tide representatives are generic and have been falling on deaf ears for years. PLEASE consider your customers opinions.

The new original tide is so strong and has some sort of chemical something. It makes me itch and had my skin irritated. Please, Please change back!

The newer "original" scent is terrible. Please bring back the old smell!

The original had peroxide as a content. Peroxide produces a tremendous amounts of oxygen. Smelt excellent, but dangerous in an enclosed automatic machine due to chance of explosion by spark.

My mother and grandmother were loyal Tide users, and I’ve followed in their footsteps for years. Recently, at 52, I decided to go back to Tide, expecting that familiar scent from my childhood in the ’70s and ’80s. To my disappointment, I discovered that the “original scent” has been changed—possibly back in 2020? Unfortunately, the new scent is so noxious and overpowering that I couldn’t even keep the bottle. I found it so off-putting that I didn’t feel right giving it away. The once-beloved fragrance that evoked warm memories is now gone, replaced by something entirely different. It’s heartbreaking to think that such an iconic, well-loved scent has been altered after decades of success. Please, Tide, I implore you—bring back the true original scent! The familiar smell was more than just laundry detergent; it was a connection to the past, to family, and to home. Why fix something that wasn’t broken? Don’t mess with our laundry scents!

I have used powder Tide for years. I decided to switch it up and buy the Mountain Spring scent which I have used in the past and enjoyed. Not any more. My clothes smell like they have been sitting in a barn. Kind of a stale lawn clippings scent with a slight animal potty smell. Not overwhelmingly strong but still not pleasant. I am switching to a different brand of detergent just to get that smell out of my clothes.

I’ve purchased this powder laundry detergent for a few years now and it is by far my favorite over other brands. Tide is my husband’s favorite, but we use powder instead of liquid to reduce buildup in our washer. It also saves a bit of money to use powder detergent. Tide does a great job of getting the smells out of my boys’ clothes and keeping them bright.

Best detergent. Works well on all kinds of stains. I just have one problem with it. I throw away every cup I purchase after the first one. This wastes Tide's money and is damaging to the environment. Sell the cups in every fifth box and label those boxes. Or you can sell the cups separately with a coupon to purchase them free with the purchase of a box of detergent.

This is one of many examples of where marketing departments in order to justify their existence will look to make changes based on “data“ and “surveys” only to find, after re-tooling, it was a huge mistake. I agree with the other reviewer‘s protesting the changes to the original Tide.

I can’t believe we are still begging you to change the scent back to it’s REAL original. What a huge mistake you have made to change the scent. You have lost so many customers. So so sad.

Last year's Tide had 183 load per box. This year's Tide has 143 loads per box. But they are the same box and weight. Please answer, this drives me nuts.

In the interest of saving money and reducing plastic waste, I decided to try the old fashioned powdered Tide. People may say that newer is better, but you can't beat an original. I had used liquid detergents in the past but even using the bare minimum never seemed to get my clothes fully clean. Using just the minimum amount of Tide powder knocks stains out and leaves my clothes looking cleaner than before. The smell isn't overpowering either which is great. I live in a third floor walk up apartment with laundry in the basement so the box being light weight is a bonus. I use warm water in a top loading HE washer and there's no clumping at all. If you are looking for a budget friendly detergent that actually works, look no further than the original Tide.

Count me among the many people here stating that they suffered health problems from the new formula. I had symptoms similar to UTIs, BV, and/or yeast for several months but test after test came back negative. I thought I was going insane. Turned out to be my laundry detergent and resolved as soon as I switched.

This is one of my favorite heavy duty, stain releasing laundry detergents. It's super effective, my husband works in construction and his work clothes are usually super dirty. I've tried using regular laundry detergents that claim to have superior stain releasing properties and they just don't cut it for his work clothes. I have had luck using other detergents with an additional scoop of laundry boosters, but they don't clean as well as Tide Ultra Stain Release and buying the two products to add to one load can get expensive quickly. The Tide Ultra Stain Release can handle the mess, even in the "eco-warm" setting on my older HE washing machine, it's even on the list of preferred laundry detergents to use in my machine. The Tide website says the the Tide Ultra Stain Release detergent "will remove 99% of everyday stains versus Tide Original" and I find that to be very true. It leaves whites nice and bright and it doesn't fade my color loads. I also like the fact that you don't have to use that much for it to work well, other detergents I'll have to wash twice using at least double the detergent. I don't have the time to wash his work clothes loads twice, I'm very pleased with this detergent, I've used it for years. The scent is great too. It smells fresh and clean, but not floral, it's not overbearing. Now if it could just teach my stepdaughter not to overload the machine it would solve all of my challenging laundry machine issues!

After reading all these bad reviews on the new "original" Tide, I now realize it's not in my head, it's the Tide!! Why would you change a scent that's been around and loved by so many for decades with a scent that is overwhelming, sickening, and headache-inducing to a LOT of people??!! So many of the reviewers also say that they've used Tide for years with no allergic reactions, but suddenly with the new "original" formula, they're having suddenly having allergic reactions. You keep saying "we put a lot of research into creating something everyone will like," "your satisfaction/safety is important to us," "use Tide Pods Mountain Spring scent, which is similar to the original scent," blah, blah, blah, on and on. Who are all these people you performed research with?? You didn't ask for my input, and it's obvious from most of the reviews about the new smell/formula, you didn't ask them for their input either! Instead of changing up something that's been a great, reliable staple product for us and past generations for so long, why not just, ya know, create a new fragrance/formula, and keep the REAL original fragrance/formula on the shelf as an option instead of replacing it with some inferior product. Let the people decide if they want to switch to the new smell and formula, and those of us who have depended on the REAL original product can keep using what we've known and loved for so long. The people have spoken! Please listen to us!! You are losing customers right and left over this. Is it worth it? Do you even care, or are we just a number??
