Good pasta!

After reading the terrible reviews I thought of returning the pasta before opening it, but I had nothing else planned for dinner so I went ahead and prepared it. Surprisingly, I liked it a lot. It’s not the best I’ve ever tried, but it was exactly what I was expecting for grocery store pasta. I followed another reviewer’s cooking instructions (butter, olive oil, garlic, pasta water…) and it turned out delicious. I didn’t use heavy whipping cream.

I’m shocked by all the negative reviews. I’ve made this tortellini several times using the recipe on the bag, and it is delicious every time despite being so easy. My whole family loves this food too, which doesn’t happen very often. I hope Target keeps it on the shelves for those of use who do enjoy it.

Bought this thinking it would taste like cheese tortellini...it was pretty salty and had an odd taste. Definitely didn't go with the recipe that called for tortellini.

Pastas Biggest Dissapointment

If I give 0 stars I would. This is a warning, not a review. These micro-sized, bland, cheese-less, excuse of a “pasta” is by far the worst thing I’ve ever consumed. It’s the size of my fingernail, I’m not missing. The pasta outside is hard no matter how long you boil them. The inside filling is NOT cheese and to be honest I’m not entirely sure what it is. If you’re craving tortellini and this is your only option, go buy a pizza instead.

These tortellini do not taste like tortellini. The flavor is off and they cooked weird to where some were soft and some hard even though I cooked them for about 20 minutes, way longer than expected. The taste ruined my meal.

The flavor is real rough and they stay hard when cooking or get mushy if you cook longer trying to get them to soften

My family loves tortellini but this was a major disappointment. When I opened the bag it smelled different. I read there are not artificial flavors or coloring or preservatives so I wonder if whatever replaced those made it smell like that. I looked at the expiration date and it hasn’t expired yet. Today is November 21 and the expiration date is December 15/2024, so, close but not there yet. I served everyone before me, my 10 yr old son ate half a plate before he stopped eating, saying that it just tastes different from the ones I usually get. He had marinara sauce on his and Parmesan cheese. My 13 yr old took 3 bites and said it was bad, something was wrong. My 7 yr old spit out the first bite. When I sat to eat, I immediately noticed the expired/rotten taste of food. It tasted absolutely wrong. The smell is of old food and probably the cheese inside the tortellini gone bad. I didn’t have any sauce on mine, just salt and Parmesan cheese and I could pick up on the old food taste pretty easy and that explained the smell. I was hoping Target would refund me but the only option is for me to take it to the store…I already went there today…to pick up tonight’s dinner and they want me to bring the pasta back…cooked? Are they going to taste it?

These tri-color cheese tortellini are great. I'm really puzzled by all of the negative reviews, here, but I can only guess that people are boiling these and eating them straight. I wouldn't do that with any other pasta, and definitely not with these. Here's what I do: Boil for 15 minutes in lightly salted water, only stirring a couple of times (you can see I have some breakage, but it's minimal). Drain and reserve some of the pasta water. Add 2-3 tbsp of a good extra-virgin olive oil, 2-3 tbsp butter (yes, both), 1-2 garlic cloves chopped, 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, around 2 tsp of various dried Italian seasoning like oregano, basil, etc., or just Target's own bottled Italian Seasoning, which is actually pretty good. Salt to taste, add some of the reserved pasta water if it gets dry, and.. gorgeous! It's honestly delicious. Is everything perfect? No. The weird plastic bag they use is prone to cracking, so I often put this bag inside a larger Ziploc. And the price for around 8 servings has gone through the roof. But if you use a little kitchen knowledge, this is a super-easy & tasty meal.

Negative reviews are right- Weird Stale Old Taste

I just had to look this up online to see if it's worth my time to try to get a refund -- not really, but I did want to confirm the negative reviews. This has a totally off, old musty taste as if the pasta had been sitting around too long in an old, musty warehouse soaking in the smells! No wonder it was on clearance at my local Target. I don't have the time and energy to go back and wait around to get $4 or so back, but I won't ever buy this or similar Good and Gather tortellini products again.

THESE NEED TO BE TAKEN OFF OF THE SHELVES, TARGET!! I just wasted so much time, food, pasta sauce, and my money purchasing this.. I didn’t think it’d be a big deal to purchase this tortellini as this store brand is usually ok. I didn’t check reviews & BOY do I regret it! I thought it was just me when I took the first bite and felt it tasted weird. Tried to eat more but couldn’t bring myself to! EW!!

TERRIBLE! No matter how I've tried, I can't make them edible. Love tortellini, just not this brand. Most of G&G's products are excellent, but these are completely inedible.

This pasta is so bad. It smells and tastes like cardboard. I took time making a nice sauce that had to be thrown out because of this nasty fake pasta. I'm not a picky eater and still couldn't finish my meal. Can't believe it's still being sold after all the bad reviews.

I didn't enjoy the taste of these. The inside tasted off, and a bit sour-- but not in a good sour cheese way, but more like something that has gone a bit rancid. Paired with my homemade sauce because I was nervous after reading other reviews (that i saw AFTER buying!) but the rancid-ish cheese taste overpowered my sauce. Very disappointed, the rest of the bag cannot be salvaged or doctored up :(

These were super yummy my daughter and I like them a lot. They don’t smell bad. They smell like Parmesan cheese that you would get in the plastic container. Like the Parmesan cheese that you would put on pizza. My daughter reheated the next day still good . Not sure why so many bad reviews.
