The fan speed is too low to cool and it’s impossible to get the front panel off to clean inside. Really? How hard would it have been to put in an easy release notch for a screwdriver. Obviously designed by someone who never has to clean the product.

Bought this two years ago and followed instructions re wiping it down, trying to vacuum out any lint that has accumulated, etc. The grill cannot be removed so this is really all you can do per the instructions (unless you feel safe using canned air, do be careful). The thing is simply uncleanable. There is just no way to keep out lint/dust and to get it out of there once it gets in. Unless you want to replace your heater every couple years, I suggest you take a hard pass.

It’s billed as a “personal heater,” but the VH5 can quite ably warm up a small room. For example: during several -20 Celsius/-4 Fahrenheit evenings last winter, my VH5’s High setting (750W) regularly heated my 10 ft X 12 ft (122 sq ft) bedroom up to approximately 19 Celsius/66.2 Fahrenheit within 15-20 minutes from switch-on (from a starting temperature of 15 Celsius/59 Fahrenheit). Running it purely on the Low setting (375 W) on such beastly nights meant a slower warm-up, but retained a comfortable sleeping temperature of around 17-18 Celsius/64 Fahrenheit while the heater ran all through the night (saving me money on electricity, all the while). Warm air tends to expand easily, which explains why this small, gentle, fan-powered heater can work such miracles from the top of my dresser, four feet away from the foot of my bed. Sadly, the Fan-Only mode is rather less successful - you’ll need to place the VH5 within three feet of you in order to feel a milder version of Vornado’s famous vortex “air beam” on a hot night. Some tips: 1) Give the heater time and space to work its magic. Heating a small room or workspace with this thing is a gradual, cumulative effect. Just switch it on, place it where the airflow can reach the room — ideally, in a corner — and wait. Oh, and keep the back and the front of the unit clear so that air can flow freely. 2) Keep it clean. This wee beastie moves a mountain of air. That also means dust and hair can accumulate, clog, and eventually break your heater or cause a fire hazard. Wipe the case off and vacuum the vents with a brush nozzle at least once every couple of weeks. Blast its innards with compressed air once a month. If you’re really serious, you can use a small watercolour paint brush to dust the fan blades through the vents once or twice a year. 3) Be prepared for some mild “white noise.” The VH5 is using what amounts to a mini jet engine to heat your space. The VH5 takes up less room than older models like the VH202, but lacks the noise-dampening built into its casing. Unless you need absolute silence, this shouldn’t be a problem. Oh, and in the event that you don't luck out with a perfectly working model (like I did), that three-year warranty is a godsend.

I have had this personal heater for two years and I like to two Hi-Lo-Fan option, and the air volume. What I DO NOT LIKE is how stiff the power cord is. This is a safety hazard; the cord needs to lay flat on the floor. This problem is not unique to this product but most electrical products these days. I would be willing to pay an additional $5-7 for a product with a power cord that is supple. I have two other personal space heaters that are rated 650 and 1000 watts that have very supple cords and I have a number of older power tools that have very supple power cords so they are available.
Works great!

Don’t have one!!!!!!!!!!! - 2 years ago

My only complaint is there isn’t a good way to pick it up & move it. I have to move it everyday from its night spot to my day spot. I have almost dropped it. My old one was so easy to pick up. This one, I with have to be extra careful or use both hands to move it. Thank God, it’s not so hot that I can’t touch it. Otherwise, it’s wonderful! When I get my other one, I won’t have to move it at all!

I replaced an old Vornado space heater that worked well for many years that was nearly silent. This one produces much less heat and is very loud - way too loud to keep at your feet or beside a chair. You won't be able to concentrate on anything, watch media or talk on the phone. This is like a jet engine by comparison that blows out cool air. The old one also had a handle on the top, this one does not despite being marketed as portable. I bought it in a local hardware store at inflated price price, and they won't take it back. Waste of money.

I ordered two of these heaters. One of them worked great and is still working. The second one quit after a couple of minutes, and the replacement they sent was DOA. I returned that as well, and got another replacement that died after a couple of days of occasional use. So I returned the third one for a refund instead of replacement.

We bought this a month ago and use it in our bathroom. Love that it has an indicator light, 2 speeds and a very sensitive anti-tip. It’s a good size too.

I'm really disappointed in this heater. Can't feel any heat from it at all. Comparably sized heaters from other companies are much more effective

I purchased this small heater for a bathroom with ceramic tile flooring. It is small, has high and low settings. My two reasons for giving this heater a 4-star rating: Cord is stiff and awkward, and no way to easily pick it up (no grip). Otherwise it is a totally great little, portable heater. If buyer is going to put it somewhere to stay (work, bedroom, etc), I would give it 5 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This works great for heating a small space. For instance we use it in our camper. It works very well and even has a fan Option too. It has good safety feature that shuts it off if the vent becomes blocked to prevent it from overheating. It would work great to heat a bedroom of office.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hard to test a heater in the dead of summer, but I did try it quickly. The unit is very quiet and blows well. The only thing I didn't like was there was no convenient way to pick it up. There should be a handle built into the top instead of having the control switches there.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I work in an office that is cold year-round. I wear a sweater but my feet were always cold before I got this heater. Now I am the envy of the office and I can wear sandals and dresses to work again. One person has already purchased the same type of heater for herself!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with My little personal Heater! I bought it for my home office to keep my feet warm during the winter months as my feet are always cold! I missed the specs of this having a fan feature as well! With now knowing that I can utilize this during the summer months as well as winter makes it that much more impressive, In winter to warm my feet, summer I can place on top of my desk for cooling and air movement! The heating feature is great, heats up quickly and provides a good amount of heat, I also place this in my bathroom just before my shower to warm up the room which is about an 10x10 bathroom and in no time it is toasty warm! I like how small and compact it is so it does not take up much room at all! Very effective!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little Vornado heater is the perfect little compact heater fan for my office. The size makes it easy to control the warmth. And I like the black so it disappears and doesn’t make my office look cluttered.
