The 10 cup maximum capacity would refer to 10 cups of uncooked short or medium grain rice, using the 6 oz. measuring cup that is provided with the unit. Very disappointed. This is truly just a rice cooker. I bought this to cook brown rice and steel cut oatmeal, which are foods we eat daily. It just won't cook. Still cut oats without making an enormous mess. Water boils out the top vent and spills over the back. It's a real pain to clean up. We have tried rinsing the steel cut oats repeatedly prior to cooking, and it still makes a huge mess.

Absolutely love our rice cooker! We had been borrowing a friends bigger and higher end model one and decided it was time for one of our own. We went with a smaller size as we don't ever really need more than 5 cups of rice as well as not as high end a model. SO happy with our rice cooker. Perfect rice every time no matter the type of rice or the type of liquid used.

Works well and nonstick coating on the pan insert seems robust. My only complaint is that it's slower than I'm used to. The time-until-done readout seems conservative at the beginning; sometimes it seems to move faster than the clock.

Thank you so much for sharing your review on your new rice cooker. Our Micom rice cookers will take a seemingly longer amount of time when cooking compared to conventional rice cookers. This is because the Micom rice cooker will automatically soak the rice, cook, then steam the rice at the end to achieve the best cooked rice. Conventional rice cookers will only do the cook part of the process so it seems shorter but it is always recommended that the rice be soaked for 30 minutes, then when the rice cooker is done with the cooking, letting it steam by not opening the lid for 15 minutes. The Micom rice cookers will do all of this for you so it will take about 40 to 50 minutes to cook rice. The initial estimated cook time it displays will be the longest time, and then the rice cooker will adjust the cooking time depending on how the rice is cooking. Perfect rice. Works very well. I gave it 4 stars because the inner pan has to be inserted at a certain angle because the lid doesn't raise as high as our last Zojirushi.

This cooker is a fantastic piece of machinery. In addition to being an eye-pleaser, it has been used several times to cook Quinoa, and white and brown rice on other occasions, and It is still being constantly used, and without one hiccup. Its controls are simple to operate, and the cooking performance is spot-on. The machine is very highly recommended for its purpose in the kitchen. If you're mulling over the possibility of purchasing one, please do not hesitate. Get it, then use it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaced a 10+ year old rice cooker that I inherited from my parents. I never really thought a rice cooker could make better rice over another but I was wrong. My old rice cooker made rice just fine but rice that came out of this rice cooker had a fluffier feel and the rice clumped together better for easier chop stick use. I’ve made rice in the morning and returned to eat an early dinner and the rice was still piping hot and fluffy. We chose this model because three cups uncooked rice will yield way more rice than my wife and I can eat in a sitting. We also liked the elongated look over the round ones because it fits perfectly between two larger appliances in our counter. The inner pot is very easy to clean, I just soak it in water for an hour, quickly clean off the rice residue with a soft sponge in 1-2 swipes and give it rinse.

I make jasmine rice in this on the regular white rice setting. (I tried it on the long grain setting and it came out mushy, so I guess white rice is best) I tried to make quinoa on the quinoa setting... it tasted good but I don't think it was fully cooked. It could be because I used a quinoa blend with yellow, red, and black quinoa. Next time I'll try just yellow quinoa and maybe add more water than it says on the bowl. As for the size, it's great! 5 cup is a great balance of easy to clean and enough room for 2 people with leftovers or 4 people if we have people over. I used to have a 10 cup Zojirushi but I bought this because I thought the bowl would be easy to clean and it is! I haven't used the timer function but I'm glad it has that.

Then, it keeps it warm and delicious for ages. All that said, I’d rather it had a setting for congee than oatmeal. Finally, ours is indeed silver, and not as white as it appears in the photographs.
