Thought it was a win til i realize how often mass amounts of mold build up inside it. The pictures are one week of build up… i can’t believe Ive been using this. All the crevices are just filled with Mold.

We certainly understand your concern about finding mold on your toothbrush, and we'd like to help. Our products undergo strict quality checks to reach you in perfect condition, providing the ultimate teeth-cleaning experience. The Oral-B iO series 2 is designed with openings on the brush heads to allow water to flush through the brush head tube and let air inside. This venting ensures the brush head dries sufficiently after use and reduces moisture inside the tube. While it's rare, what you've described can occur if the brush is stored somewhere exposed to mold and bacteria where the plastic comes into contact with ingredients of a corrosive nature. Certain ingredients used in those types of products can make the plastic porous, allowing dirt and moisture to find places to settle. To avoid this, it's important to always rinse your brush head thoroughly after each use to prevent residue from building up and blocking the openings. So we can learn more about your experience with your iO2 and help further, please give us a call at 1-800-566-7252, 9 am-6 pm EST, Monday-Friday.

Bought this because my dentist recommend it. However, it is disgusting! It harbors bacteria and gunk. I even tried storing it out in the open to help prevent it, but it still happened. I will be switching back to a manual toothbrush as this is gross 🤢
1 reply from Oral-B team - 17 days ago
We're sorry to hear that this has been your experience, as we can assure you that our Oral-B iO Series 2 brushes have gone through strict quality checks to ensure that you can use them with ease. As well, they've been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. We understand that seeing buildup on your electric toothbrush can be concerning. This is often just residue from regular use. Even with rinsing after each use, toothpaste can harden over time, creating a chalky coating that may appear black, brown, orange, pink, or grey on the metal shaft, rubber parts, and joints, as well as on the charger. Water and toothpaste can also collect on the brush head and handle, leaving a residue that varies in color depending on your toothpaste and water hardness. Rest assured, this buildup is not harmful and can be easily removed with a thorough cleaning. To help prevent it in the future, we recommend rinsing your toothbrush thoroughly as outlined in your manual, including the handle, and wiping down the charger. We hope this information is helpful, and we'll make sure that your comments are shared with the rest of our team. If you experienced any negative physical reactions/symptoms, we do recommend that you discontinue use of this brush. So that we can look into this further, as well as gather additional details for our Safety and Quality Teams, please give us a call at (800) 566-7252 when you can.

Brand new. Out of the box. Says it’s charged. But it doesn’t turn on. Nor is it actually charging when I plug it up
1 reply from Oral-B team - 17 days ago
This is not the experience we want you to have, and we're disappointed to hear it won't turn on. We're happy to help you as our toothbrushes have a 2-year warranty and they go through many quality checks through the manufacturing process to ensure the best toothbrushes. Here are some troubleshooting tips for you to try. Please make sure the toothbrush has been powered down before putting it on the charger, and it's not on or near a metal surface as it can interfere with the electromagnetic charger. You want to check another outlet or try another device on the same outlet. Also, make sure you place the brush handle with the button facing forward or it won't charge. If the toothbrush still doesn't work, please call us at (800) 566-7252 with the production code located on the bottom of the handle. We're happy to assist you further with the toothbrush.

If I could give Oral-B electric toothbrushes zero stars, I would! We bought two brushes, and one of them stopped working within a month. We had to contact Oral-B for a refund, wait for a return label, and then send it back to them. I am still waiting on my refund, which has been a huge waste of time. My husband's toothbrush stopped charging last night, so his lasted only 1.5 months. I contacted Oral-B again, and this is their response: "Our 60-day money-back guarantee is limited to one refund per name, household, or address. We can, however, assist with the process of sending the brush to one of our service centers to get it back in working order." So, we can't get a refund for my husband's toothbrush since their 60-day policy only allows for one return per address! This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Two toothbrushes stopped charging within 1.5 month.! I will never purchase from Oral-B again!

This brush harbors so much bacteria and gunk. I have to clean it multiple times a week for my son or it looks like this. My child has been sick 4 times since getting this toothbrush 3 months ago. It should have a class action lawsuit. Absolutely disgusting.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 28 days ago
Because one of the main purposes of a toothbrush is to remove bacteria from your mouth, we're sorry to hear that it's not staying as clean as we all would like. Safety is our top priority, and all our products are thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. It's important to keep your toothbrush sanitary and free of bacteria. After each brushing, thoroughly rinse the brush head while the toothbrush is switched on to minimize toothpaste residue remaining on the brush between uses. Switch off the brush, remove the brush head from the handle, and clean both parts separately under running water. Please ensure that the toothbrush (without the brush head) is switched on while cleaning. Best cleaning is achieved when water is pushed out via the little openings on the grey connector part. Wipe both handle and brush head dry and leave both the handle and brush head to air dry further before putting the brush head and handle back together. When you put them back together, ensure the brush head is pushed fully onto the handle so there is no/little gap. If necessary, it is OK to use a mild detergent/cleanser and water to clean the outside of the handle. We're happy to help you with any questions you have. Please call us at (800) 566-7252 for further assistance.

This is the absolute worst toothbrush I have ever purchased. From day one it randomly turns off every few seconds and doesnt restart again for 3-5 seconds. Tried charging overnight and still have the same problem. I ended up having to just manually brush my teeth with it. I've always purchased Oral B in the past but now have to shop for a new brand unfortunately.

Poor quality. It lasted less than a year, and unfortunately I didn't keep my receipt. It kept a charge for a few months, but then wouldn't recharge. Complete junk!
1 reply from Customer Care team - 2 months ago
Amy, we never want you to feel disappointed when investing in an Oral-B iO Series 2 toothbrush, so we're sorry you're having charging issues, and we'd like to help. Oral-B electric toothbrushes should last between 3-5 years. It's helpful to know when charging your toothbrush, it must be powered off before putting it on the charger. Also, ensure the charger is not near or on a metal surface, as it can interfere with the electromagnetic charger. A full charge can take up to 22 hours, so make sure the brush is placed on the charging pin correctly. If placed incorrectly, the charging light will still be on but not charging. Your satisfaction means everything to us, and we'd like to learn more and help you troubleshoot your iO2. When you have time, please give us a call at 1-800-566-7252, 9 am-6 pm EST, Monday-Friday.

My dentist recommend that I get specifically an Oral B electric toothbrush of the 1000 series or higher and I chose the iO2. The brush head is similar to that of the polishers they have at the dentist office and they have a ton of cool features that help you get the best brush. Add a fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash and youll be cavity free forever! This toothbrush literally left my mouth feeling even cleaner than it did when I left the dentist office. I also had some yellow surface stains that this bad boy was able to buff out after a few weeks of use. It got into all of the hard to reach places that I would usually miss with other toothbrushes. I know a lot of other reviewers have reported mold growth in the brush heads due to the design choices in the head so I would watch out for that, but I haven't had any mold issues.

Like others mentioned, ours would not charge. Also my son keeps complaining the toothbrush smells, and it really does. We cleaned out the brush head and the base part but it still stinks like mold or mildew. Kinda gross. I’m gonna try to return it but i can’t recommend this toothbrush for those reasons. Bummer, because I think it actually does provide a good clean for his teeth.

This tooth brush is gross. I only had it for a couple of months. All the poorly placed holes in the head allows water in the head. It gets black moldy gunk all in it.. It's was so hard to clean that I had to through it out. Very disappointed.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 3 months ago
Shannon, we’re sorry to hear you’ve noticed a residue building up on your toothbrush. We have many quality checks in place to ensure only the best products reach you. Please know we understand this is unsightly but it is likely a buildup from regular use. Even if rinsed after each use, residual toothpaste can harden over time and form a residue on your toothbrush and the replacement head. This buildup may be colored depending on your toothpaste and water hardness. In either case, this substance is not harmful and can be removed with a thorough cleaning. So that we can help you further, please give us a call at (800) 566-7252.
