A: While the science around coral reefs is evolving, we respect the need to protect the environment and have been listening to the increasing interest among our customers and the public for sunscreens with simplified formulas. We are happy to share that most of our sunscreen products are made without oxybenzone and octinoxate and we are currently reformulating the remaining products to remove these ingredients. Be sure to check our packaging for the ‘free from oxybenzone and octinoxate’ claim.

A: We have products specifically designed for use on the face. They are generally lightweight formulas and considered non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog your pores.  Products that are tested and verified to be non-comedogenic are labeled with the claim.  General protection products can be used on the face as well, but we recommend using products specifically designed for the face.

A: The only Hawaiian Tropic oil that contains lanolin is the SPF 0 Tanning oil. All of the SPF products do not contain lanolin (or other animal derived ingredients). There are NO reformulation plans in progress to remove it.

A: Yes, it can be applied to the face.

A: Yes you can apply it after a tan.

A: Hawaiian Tropic Sun Protection products with SPF remain effective for an average of 3 years from the date of manufacture. Sunless Tanning products are effective for 2 years from the date of manufacture. The product should have an expiration date on the back on bottom of the container.
