A: Due to the presence of protein in this product, we wouldn't suggest it for low porosity hair. Our best line for low porosity hair at the moment is the Red Palm and Cocoa Butter line!

Q: My son is allergic to coconut oil. I did not see anything that looked like coconut oil on the list; however, I did see essential oils and know that coconut is often mixed in with essential oils. Can you tell me if there is any coconut in this product?

I got the shampoo to help with dryness and it definitely helps. I use it right after my clarifying shampoo once a week. I love the scent and how it’s still lathers even though it’s a moisturizing shampoo. I plan on getting the conditioner next.

I previously bought the large bottles of this shampoo and conditioner and it lasted me a year and a half and I got into a really good hair routine with it. Unfortunately, when I repurchased I found out that some time in that year and a half, the formula changed and the large bottles are no longer being sold. With the new formula it lathers differently which honestly doesn't bother me too much except for the fact that i'm noticing that after shampooing, my hair continues to feel oily. Seems like I'll have to find another shampoo (and possibly conditioner as to not make a horrible franken-scent) and either alternate between this one or just change from it entirely. It's a shame the formula changed, it used to have a good balance of making my hair feel healthy but not too oily or too dry, but now it's shifted to feeling oily and weighed down.

Used to be amazing creating the perfect hydrated curls. After just over a year, I've ran out of my surplus and bought a new bottle. The formula has changed and now it just creates a tangled crispy mess.

I have been trying to move away from toxic cleaning ingredients in general and gave this a try. It seems to make my hair feel grimy and not actually clean. When using other shampoos, I can run my fingers through my hair and my hair is squeaky clean. With this one, my fingers get stuck because my hair sticks together and again, hair and scalp feel like they have a lot of residue. Not sure what to make of this but I’ve washed a couple of times so far. I’ve also noticed a little more hair loss but that may be a coincidence. I hope it doesn’t stay this way otherwise back to searching for an alternative again.

I've been using this shampoo for years and loved it. It used to be creamy and made my hair soft and stretchy without tangles. Now it's more like a gel that doesn't lather the same and leaves my hair dried out and breaking. Also smells odd now and leaves my scalp oily. I'm so sad that I have to find a new shampoo since they ruined it 😢

I have reallly REALLY been enjoying the Coconut and Hibiscus line by Shea Moisture. It gives such beautiful definition to my curls and curl pattern! I may have found my dream product in those bottles—but silly me, I gave this Manuka Honey one a try because it was on sale at the drugstore and because I saw « intense hydration …» in the title. Granted I have naturally curly, thick and dry 2b/3a hair, but I was optimistic that it would provide the type of moisture that I could swap in every so often for the Coconut Hibiscus, especially in these dry and cold winter months in the Northeast. Nope. It’s just ok. My hair is intact and I have had NO intense allergic reactions, thank goodness, but I would agree that the Manuka Honey formula has a sort of stripping quality feeling to the scalp, and the conditioner for what it promises is quite average. For all the advertising about fig, avocado, honey and shea etc, I did not think this was a game changer. A reformulation would be worth considering.

The shampoo is well worth the price. It restores you hair texture instantly. After washing it out it leave you hair smooth and smelling like hibiscus 🌺 plus by having honey in it the split ends get repair also.

I had been dealing with a lot of dryness and breakage with regular shampoo. I've tried so many; they were just drying out my hair to the point where I was scared to wash it. I had been using Jamaican Black Castor Oil, which is another great product, but this one—the moment I shampooed my hair, it just drank it in. It didn't leave any dryness; my hair feels stronger after the first wash, and it has never felt so soft. Thank you for this great product! I can't wait to see what I try next.

This shampoo smells really good. I love that it provides lots of lather and it cleans my hair good. What I do not like is that it’s not really hydrating. I would not purchase this again. Especially since it’s supposed to be “intensive hydration” shampoo.

This is one of the few shampoos I've tried that leaves hair very soft. It's ingredients are the focus to make your hair look soft and silky to the touch. Highly recommended for very dry hair.
