I don’t know what they changed, but I had to buy more nipples for our previous bottles since I recentlygave birth to triplets. These new nipples leak LIKE CRAZY. Absolute garbage.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 years ago
Hi Abosma, thanks for reaching out to us. Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your triplets! We are really sorry to hear that the Avent Natural Baby Bottles are leaking, that must be very inconvenient for you and your little ones. Kindly make sure the nipple is pulled correctly through the screw ring and the screw ring is tightened sufficiently on the bottle without overtightening. If you are using glass bottles, check that the outer side of the bottle and inner side of the screw ring are dried before they are closed. We hope these suggestions help all four of you! If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website www.philips.com/support. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care

My baby really loved the Philips avent natural baby nipple. I was breastfeeding and bottle feeding my baby. My baby didn’t have nipple confusion or trouble latching on. I highly recommend. Just a bit disappointing that Philips recently changed the design and flow of the natural baby bottle nipples.
Better flow

Milk barely flows out

Happy buyer - 3 years ago
I should’ve read reviews online before buying these size 3 nipples. I too am feeling the frustration. My baby spends too much time sucking and can never finish his bottle with these nipples. We have old size 1 nipples he has no problem drinking from, but I thought it would be a good idea to size up for more flow since he is older. These size 3 are the worst!! I bought 2 packages and plan to return the other unopened one. Don’t waste your time with these. I also read the customer service response to other bad reviews and it seems like they refuse to acknowledge how terrible these nipples are designed. It’s not the child, it’s the product.

Hi, thanks for reaching out to us regarding the new Natural Response Nipples. We are sorry to hear of your frustrating experience and hope that we can improve things for both you and your son. The innovative tip and opening responds to the drinking motion of the baby’s tongue, which causes the slit to open and close, so milk is released only when baby is actively drinking, like at the breast. Without the baby’s compression, milk does not drip from the tip. The flow rate of milk they get from the nipple is linked to how enthusiastically or steadily they drink as they develop. Enthusiastic drinkers use a strong suction and compression while drinking, resulting in greater milk flow, so they usually need a lower nipple flow from the Natural Response range (such as nipple number 1 or 2) to avoid overflow. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple 4 or 5), to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. We hope this helps, if you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with our dedicated Avent Parent and Child Care team on 1-800-542-8368. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care

Hi, thanks for reaching out to us regarding the Natural Baby Bottle. We are sorry to hear that the newborn size is not suitable for your daughter, that is really unfortunate for you both. There is also a smaller (0) size of the Natural Nipple, for further details on the most suitable size, please feel free to get in touch with our dedicated Avent Parent and Child Care team on 1-800-542-8368. Had to move up from size 2 to size 4 my baby couldn’t get any milk out. We now have to try a completely different bottle brand.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 years ago
Hi Emily, thank you for sharing your valuable feedback with us. We understand the struggle and we are sorry to hear that you and your baby are not pleased with the new nipple design. These nipples are designed to work like a breast for an easy combination between breast and bottle feeding. They responds to the drinking motion of the baby’s tongue - which causes the slit to open and close - so milk is released only when baby is actively drinking, like at the breast. Without the baby’s compression, milk does not drip from the tip. It's also important to choose the right flow for your baby. If the baby uses a lot of tongue movement (compression) and vacuum, they will be able to open the valve more fully and will have a higher flow rate. Babies with limited compression or vacuum will not open the valve as far, and therefore will have a slower flow. We advise to buy multiple nipples and experience what is their perfect match. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
Hard to get milk out

Mama - 3 years ago
Dislike the new nipple style. My 4.5 month old baby lost weight due to refuse taking the bottle. I tested it and found out that it takes a really hard sucking force for the milk to come out, therefore my baby had a hard time with drinking. I replaced all the nipples with dr brown wide neck bottle nipples size 2 (which are compatible). My son is happy again and is able to take his formula. Disclaimer: my baby used dr brown bottles but they leaked so bad so we switched back to avent. He was fine with the old avent nipple but I wanted to upgrade one level but the new nipple style doesn’t work for him.

New design is problematic - avoid these

I’m not sure what happened with the new design but I am unable to use these. My baby was doing great w the old design nipples and with these, he sucks and sucks and nothing comes out for him. I am now frantically ordering a sampling of bottles from other brands so that we can find something new that works quickly. We are down to just a few working old version avent nipples that are too slow for him now and a bunch of new design nipples that I can’t use to feed him.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 years ago
Hi Kmr322, Thank you for writing your review. We are sincerely sorry about the troubles your little boy is having with getting the milk. Our goal was to create a nipple that would work similarly to the breast, and release milk only when the baby is actively drinking. If it's difficult for your baby to eat with the new design, please try a size bigger of a flow. If this doesn't improve your experience, please reach out to us on Social Media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/Philips ) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/philipscare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. The new versions of these are terrible! My baby is on the #2, so went to upgrade to next size, the 3 - absolutely NOTHING comes out. I also tried the 4 and same result! Sticking with the 2 for now.. probably going to find a new brand of bottles.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 years ago
Hi Sjr520, Thank you for sharing you experience here. We're sorry to find out that your little one is having such troubles with getting the milk out of the bottle with the upgraded nipple design. This is the opposite of our intentions. Please, try the nipple in size 4. It has a corresponding flow to the old size 2. Adam - 3 years ago
Company changed their nipples and our 6 day old son falls asleep constantly with anything less than the "6+ month, fast flow" nipple. Our 18 month old twins used the previous version, starting at the size 0 and working up to the size 4 by the time they were done bottle feeding shortly after their first birthday. Great system was eliminated for a totally unnecessary change. If you want to offer a product closer to breast feeding, great - but introduce a new product, not eliminate a working one.
1 reply from Philips team - 3 years ago
Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your experience. We're very sorry to hear that your son doesn't like our new Avent nipples. Indeed, the new system functions more similarly to a breast, which enables a more seamless combination between breast and bottle feeding. These nipples have a compression mechanism that drips milk only when the baby is actively drinking. If the flow with a model is too low, we recommend using a model with a higher flow rate. Keep in mind that it might take some time before your baby gets used to this difference. If this doesn't improve your experience, please reach out to us on Social Media. Don’t bother unless you’d like to spend 2+ hours feeding a screaming child who can’t easily get anything out of these nipples. The old version was great - whoever updated these new ones clearly forgot to test on actual babies.

I have purchased replacement nipples for my baby 3-4 times in the last 10 months. The nipples that came originally with the bottles just started a few months back, started to have milk stain on them, but the ones thereafter that I have gotten have been turning bad more quickly like a month or two into purchase. I always get them from Target and it’s really disappointing. I wanted to get size 2 but apparently they don’t exist anymore…

I bought 2 packs of the size 3 nipple and all of them leak (Avent nipples are not supposed to leak). I contacted the company (which was a pain because they don't have email or online chat, you have to call) and they sent replacements (but messed up and only sent me 1 pack) which didn't make a difference because they still leaked.
