Q: I have the kitchen trash can and have had to have the top replaced from simplehuman. However, the top is again broken after some usage. Don't believe it is being abused, etc. and wonder why this is?

I love this trash can! Our grand dog can get into anything EXCEPT this. It's a good size (30 gallon), slim design, and soft close lid. I also appreciate the fact that the can can be left unlocked for everyday use.

The lid broke off within a couple of days. Not sturdy enough to roll smoothly from bedroom to laundry room just a few feet away. If not completely balanced laundry, it tips badly. Very disappointed! I'm disabled with little arm strength & thought the wheels would be so helpful, but unfortunately that's not the case, at least not for me.

I like that it's a bit slender so it fits perfect in a spot in my kitchen with out being in the way... I had the same brand and style that lasted me 15 years so I bought another one hopefully to last me just as long.... I like that now when you open it with the foot petal it has a slow soft closure...Nice! Great price with Target which beat Amazon by a bit and even got it sooner then expected...

This was the perfect size for where I needed it, like the black too and it fits Hefty flex black trash bags perfectly BUT the lid constantly pops off and it’s super annoying. Maybe I got a lemon?

This is the best trash can I've ever purchased. It's been in heavy, everyday use for almost 5 years and still works amd looks like new. It has been a saving grace as we have great danes and this prevents them from making messes digging through the garbage. I've never had a garbage can last without breaking. I won't purchase any other garbage can in the future unless it is from simplehuman.

This trashcan only worked well for a few months before the lid started falling off and will not go back on. The whole purpose of buying it was to be able to be hands-free and be able to lock it so my dogs can’t get in it. $40 junk. The last trash can was half the price and had the same components lasted many years and I only replaced due to appearance.

This is my second; the first one lasted 11 years! I love the silent function, the durability. The only thing that bothers me at all is that every time the pedal is pushed, the trashcan moves backwards ever so slightly; so I have to pull it forward back into position after every few uses so it's not against the wall. If you could come up with some sort of "stopper" that could prevent this, it would be a 5 for sure!

Lid keeps falling off. I had this same trash can for almost 10 years without any problems. Got a new one and it broke within 3 months. Can’t find a replacement lid to try. Sent a message through Simple Human website and never received a reply.

The picture is deceptive to what the trash can actually is. It appears to be robust, but in reality, it falls over easily. It's cheap plastic. Trash goes everywhere. See that silver/gray piece on the top in the picture... you have to PULL it out to open the lid!!! You can't just step on the foot piece to open. And, the lid is not secure on the hinges either. There is a little, metal hook that's supposed to hold it on. THis is the WORST trash can I've ever had. It's 4 times too much on the price. I wish I could return... total fail and waste.

Lid keeps falling off not very stable. You can easily knock it over and due to poor lid design it can spill all the trash out. I thought this would be upgrade from the usual plastic ones from hefty that I usually buy but I was wrong. This is more expensive and worse product. It does fit 13gallon trash bags though with some struggle.
