Q: How do I install the rod to make the pedal work when you open the trash can? Thank you.

A: Hi Jeanne, Thanks for your interest in the Brightroom Trash Can. The rod should not require installation as it is supposed to come already in place. You can attempt to re-connect by removing the liner and hooking pedal rod back to the lid rod. If it does not easily get put back into place, the item should be returned to Target for a replacement.

Funny to say about a trash can, but I absolutely love it. I have complex medical needs that require spending lots of time in the bathroom. I used to have a smaller trash can without a lid and desperately needed something bigger that would hold and conceal my trash. This is such a nice trash can for such a good price compared to everywhere else I looked. It conceals the contents and any odors, holds a lot, and I don’t have to worry about my pets sticking their nose inside when they sneak into the bathroom. It looks really sleek, too, which is my favorite part.
