Q: I purchased a Soda Stream & 2 yr plan. It wasn't working so I exchanged it to Target. What do I do about the 2 year plan? Can I cancel it, or switch it over to my new one? It was only a matter of a few days.

A: Hello Laura, Protection plans cannot be transferred from one item to another. That’s because each SquareTrade Protection Plan is designed for the specific item it protects. If you’ve returned your original item and purchased a similar item, you will still need to cancel your original protection plan and purchase a new plan for your new item. regards, Ali

A: Hello Mike, Thank you for contacting SquareTrade. SquareTrade protection plans start from day one. SquareTrade sells extended protection to cover above and beyond what your manufacturer covers. Since SquareTrade is an extended warranty, any existing warranty from a seller or manufacturer does take precedent over the SquareTrade warranty. Allstate protection plan is most definitely a scam. They make it so hard for you to cancel the policy even if you don't have the product. I have been trying for days to contact someone, you can't even call. Target has the product back and have my refunded the money. I would not get the warranty from Allstate. Buyer beware.

I’ve been waiting for 3 months for a replacement. They offered me a handheld replacement which is not the value or comparable of my carpet cleaner I bought. Horrible service. Impossible to get in contact with anyone. Not worth a penny.

I tried to file a claim today and Allstate’s Square Trade coverage told me I couldn’t file a claim without contacting the manufacturer for service first because the manufacturer might still be able to cover the problem under a warranty for the first year. For me, the whole point in buying this coverage was to make life simple and easy if something didn’t work like it should. Instead, I’m going to have to work with the manufacturer for anything that happens in the first year, even though Allstate is charging me for coverage for that year anyway.

So glad we got this. It covered our coffee maker that broke two months after the manufacture warranty expired. Just be sure to upload your receipt to the website As Soon As You Get it. Waiting for our refund.

I Purchased The Mr Coffee Frappe Machine, Even Though I Knew About The Mostly Bad Reviews. I Just Want To Drink Frappes At Home. Anyway, The Cashier Didn't Offer This Protection And I Forgot To Ask. One Reviewer Said Theres a Deductible, Another Said You Can't Use This Insurance If It's Less Than 1 Yr. Well A Manufacturers Warranty Is Usually At Least 1 Yr So Exactly When Does This Allstate Square Trade Actually Begin? Is It Right Away Or Is It After The Manufacturers Warranty? Target Offers 90 Days And Since I Know They Don't Give You A Hard Time And That There Aren't Any Deductibles, I'll Just Stick With That

I get irritated with these things.. usually you have wasted your money because you buy decent products and they out live the warranty or you decide not to get it because you figure they are asking too much for an item that isn't worth insuring and then it immediately breaks. Or the one time I had it, something happened and customer service was a nightmare and it never was resolved. I got so frustrated I gave up on them. But here's the other thought.. when you buy a product from Target, they usually guarantee it for 30 days, and then if you used a credit card, I believe they stand behind the purchase for a certain amount of time and if nothing else, homeowners/renters insurance may cover it, in certain cases. You just have to make your own decision on this one.
