  • A: Unless you purchased an ACCIDENTAL plan (they never even mentioned there were different plans), your plan is a STANDARD plan and only extends the manufacturer's warranty which covers the following: Mechanical and electrical failures from normal use which are not covered during the manufacturer’s warranty (typically one year) and thereafter.

Purchased this with the Nintendo Switch Lite for our kids. They are kids, things happen, yet this plan does not cover accidents while the pamphlet and website both advertise accidents are covered. Save your money. It's essentially an extended manufacturer's warranty.

It’s a complete scam and should be illegal. We buy insurance to cover our kids devices for anything that could possibly happen to it, they’re kids, why would they not cover it. Save your money and NEVER buy this policy with this company. All we needed was a new charging port the switch worked fine even with the scratches but NOPE not covered! SMH

While at the register the employee asked if I wanted the extended warranty that covered “damages, drops, etcetera”. It was NEVER said that this is an extension of the manufacturers warranty which covers only internal defect. No written info was provided but as is pretty standard what’s covered when buying an extended warranty on handheld electronic equipment. I figured this was a good value. My child had her Nintendo Switch when she got caught out in a rainstorm and ruined it. Definitely her fault but yay at least I paid for a warranty. I went online to submit a request to find out the stated information above about coverage. This is a reflection on Allstate as a terrible warranty provider. I, along with many others, have similar feelings about the type of warranty they’re providing for a child’s device. More importantly, the misrepresentation by the employee is not ok. My call to customer service was equally as disappointing. The rep continued to state that there was no remedy and I should take it to the store. I said they’re not going to do anything about it. She acknowledged but kept telling me to bring it in. She said that Target values my opinion and is doing everything to right the error made in the misrepresentation. Uh yea everything but make good on this scam; offer a replacement or discount on a new product ect. She stated that she would make aware the team that this product did not meet expectations…despite the many terrible reviews here trust and believe that Target had NO clue there was an issue with the way this was sold. I have held a Target credit and red/debit card always in good standing and have done the bulk of my shopping there since around 2008. Moving forward after this experience once a year I will go buy a $1 item to keep my card open as it reflects well on my credit report as a long-standing open account. This is on principle now, I have the $$ to go buy another switch but find it predatory to essentially verbally bait and switch at the register. There was no indication at time of purchase that this was similar to a manufacturer warranty.

They do not cover liquid damage, mind you I had no idea my son got any liquid on his DS. He keeps it in a case. But went I sent it in to be repaired, (my sons DS was turning on and showing the Nintendo logo and the other logo after. But after that the screen would just turn black) they sent back photos of the inside saying it had liquid damage. I cannot tell it does indeed or not. But what’s the point of getting this if you don’t cover that or other common forms of damage? I will definitely NOT purchase this ins. ever again.

What an awful waste of time and money. This basic plan does not include accidental or normal wear and tear and this was not how it was explained to you when you purchase it. It merely extends your manufacturers warranty. But it was explained that it covered any issue. But the support when you try to file a claim is so horrible that it's just not worth it.

DO NOT PURCHASE! First of all their customer service is strictly online. Which is mostly bots. When I reached out to file a claim I was told to upload my recite and other information. Why isn’t that already processed when I made the purchase??? To make things worse after I uploaded what they asked for, I was then told to reach out to the manufacturer. If I knew I was going to be covered by my manufacture for a year I wouldn’t have purchased this. What a waste of time and money.

We purchased this plan for a PS5, a Nintendo Switch and a TCL Roku TV only to find out that none of these plans actually cover "accidental damages" - only extend the manufacturer's warranty against defects. With each purchase, we asked if this covers things like cracked screens and they told us yes; however, what they are selling is a "Standard" plan and Allstate offers 2 plans and the plan with accident coverage was never mentioned or offered to us at Target.

they change their terms of service, and will deny your claim. when I originally bought this, it just said squaretrade, not Allstate. and supposedly they covered all of life's little accidents, small spills, normal wear and tear, and mechanical failure. now it's only mechanical failure, and electronic failure. and if you say that you accidentally dropped it or anything, they will instantly deny your claim. so do yourself a favor, and don't bother with this. you're just giving money to people who will not do anything for you

I would give zero stars if possible. This is a rip-off. Target should be ashamed for even offering this product and I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. I returned the Nintendo switch lite in order to get the regular Nintendo switch and they would not refund the money paid for the plan. I can’t use the plan for the regular Nintendo so it was a waste of money. Also the plan doesn’t cover screen cracks or water damage.
