Alaffia Beautiful Curls Curl Control Custard - 8 fz

Why did you change the curl custard? The former brown colored custard in the tub with the green label was great! The new formula makes my hair limp and heavy. Please bring back the old formula!

The formula changed and so did the efficacy. The former formula was lightweight and not sticky which was great for my low-porosity hair. Now, the new formula is sticky and leaves my hair tacky, limp, and strangely wet feeling. I think it is the high amount of glycerine.

Even my day 2 and 3 curls were on point with minimal refresh. I don’t love the smell out of the jar but it was very light on my hair once dry. I found my new product!

My hair frizzes when applying this product and I'm disappointed. It does have glycerine in it but since is wasn't among the three primary ingredients I bought it. Will try it during the cooler fall/winter months to see what the results are.

This product helps shape my waves and curls and also gives my hair volume and shine! I suggest putting small even amounts on your hair and add over time. It also makes my hair smell clean and fresh.

This custard smells so good! I had read from another review that they pair with the pink container which is the cream, my hair looks so hydrated when using this. I’m still figuring out the best way to use it but love the results I’m getting.

The Curl Control Custard is great! It has clean ingredients, smells fantastic, and is overall a great value for the price. For reference, I would say that my hair is a fine, type 2C/3A. The product does leave a cast, but once it is scrunched out, my hair is left soft and shiny. The only thing is that my curls do not stay totally defined after sleeping on it, but a little bit of water coupled with a bit more of this product the next day brings the definition right back. I live in a very humid environment, so that likely has a lot to do with it as well. I will definitely keep purchasing this product, it is my new go to!

Smells wonderful and keeps curls under control. Make sure to apply when hair is soaking wet.

I'll be honest, when I opened this up, I was worried. It has a gelatinous consistency and jiggles when you shake it. Even with that consistency, it was thinner than I had expected. I've never used anything like this to achieve hold. I did not think that it would hold like advertised. However, once it dried, my hair was STIFF. Once I carefully broke the caste, I was left with beautifully defined curls! I have fine 2C hair, and frizz is just the name of the game. I am writing this on the third day after styling my hair, and I am blown away! I have minimum frizz, after a windy day in the Florida humidity! The smell of the product is strong, however, it doesn't smell like an artificial fragrance. It smells like sweet batter. Might be off-putting for some but I love it!

It really defines the curls and it moisturizes too! My hair is soft and it looks great!

This is great. When I first felt the texture I was uncertain if it would hold, well, it definitely does. This leaves my curl without friz, and lasts all day.

I think this product works really well in defining my curls! I thinj it ends up feeling crunchy from my hair being bleached though which is understandable. Im hoping that once cutting away the damaged hair and having more new growth, it can hell my curly natural hair thrive!

Great product! I LOVE the smell and the outcome; defined and not crunchy. I think this product would be better in a pump or squeeze bottle, but still love it!

Bought this trying to find local alternatives to another haircare line and was able to use a couple of fingertip sized dollops of this product (instead of several pumps of 2 different products) several days in a row without it weighing down my curls. I use a low sudsing shampoo and conditioner once a week. The smell goes away after putting it in my hair (a bit strong for me, but again, goes away after use).

I'm just starting my curly hair journey, so I had to figure out how to use this. I'm super happy with it! I love supporting Alaffia and all the good works they accomplish.

This curl control custard is absolutely perfect if you're looking for a medium hold for your curls. I have a combination of 3b, mainly 3c and 4a curls and I always had difficulty finding a product to maintain my curls for multiple days. I first use the Alaffia curl activating cream (pink tub) first then apply the curl control custard. I also use the custard for my day 2, day 3 and sometimes even day 4 curls, I just use a spray bottle to refresh my curls then use a little bit of custard. Just know a little goes a long way so you really get a bang for your buck.
