  • A: The apple pencil 2nd generation is only compatible with the new 3rd generation ipad pro. The pencil is charged wirelessly with a magnetic connection to the side of the ipad. This is the only way to charge the pencil 2.

  • A: Improved battery life and performance. Plus, the Apple Pencil 2 is redesigned and charges through the magnet (no lightning port like the first pencil) that is located on the side of the iPad Pro 3rd gen. It also supports gestures such as double-tapping which switches between tools in apps that support this feature. Unfortunately, the apple pencil (both gens) will not work on any iPad minis, not even the 4. The Apple Pencil 1 will only work on the first generation of Pro's (9.7 and 12.9"), second generation (10.5 and 12.9") and the 6th generation iPad - that currently goes for $329. The Apple Pencil 2 only works on the iPad Pro 3rd gen (11 or 12.9"). The Apple Pencil 1 will not work with the current generation of Pro's. Original Apple Pencil is $99, while the new improved version is $129. Hope that helps.

    I bought mine through the app and don’t know what happened but I’m pretty sure it was used or fake because it wouldn’t connect or charge or even turn on, i think someone broke it and returned it like that or something because the packaging looked real but there was no plastic sealing the box and the pen wasn’t secured at all so it did look like it was opened before, just be careful because I guess this happened to a only some people but still be safe

    I purchased the pencil about 20 months ago, and most of the time it remained unopened in the box. Started using it a couple of months ago and at some point it just stopped working. It pairs with my iPad perfectly (I can see its battery status and all that). I’ve changed the tip hoping it might be the case. No, nothing. The return window and guarantee expired and I’m disappointed.

    I have heard about it happening online but now have personally experienced it. DONT buy Apple products from target. People are purchasing switching the product in the box and returning. I ordered a 2nd gen Apple Pencil, I initially thought it was malfunctioning until I did some digging. It feels totally different than my original Apple Pencil, does not connect to my iPad correctly or have all the features. What Apple Pencil do you know that has a flashing light for battery indication? It’s a SCAM. Expected more of target. If I could give 0 stars I would.
