Description
Turn your existing cat litter into a health-monitoring system* with ARM & HAMMER Health IQ Cat Litter Additive. Crystals change color by detecting pH changes in your cat’s urine, which may indicate a potential urinary health condition and alerting you to consult a veterinarian. Simply add an even coating to completely cover the entire surface of a fresh litter box. After your cat urinates in the litter box, wait at least 4 hours. Then, refer to the color indicator chart on the bottle. If colors outside the yellow/green range persist and/or your cat seems distressed, consult your veterinarian. Repeat use with every newly filled litter box or as needed after scooping. *This product does not replace wellness exams, veterinarian diagnosis or detect all urine abnormalities. If you suspect a health issue with your cat, consult your veterinarian regardless of pH results from this product. For best results, do not combine Health IQ crystals with other additives containing zeolites or baking soda as this may compromise color indicator accuracy. Each 6.5 ounce bottle lasts up to 4 uses when used as directed in a 19”x15” litter pan. Works best with small particle size cat litters. Store in a cool dry place.

This product doesn’t work, because cats instinctively cover their urine. Therefore you can’t see the color change.

We apologize for the delayed response, JW. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We'd like to learn more about this, if we can. The crystals may get buried in the litter, making the color change less noticeable or require closer observation. More product can always be added as needed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am the proud owner of several fur babies, but unfortunately, I worry about their health. I was able to have some peace of mind after recently receiving the Arm & Hammer Health IQ Cat Litter Additive. The directions were simple to understand and it was easy to use, although I believe it would have worked better if I had a litterbox that wasn't automatic. After sprinkling it with even distribution, I noticed a slight orange color, but didn't see any color change. I appreciate that it didn't have any odor, dust, and helped me to know if my fur babies are healthy. I only wish the container was larger and had more than four uses for longer usage.

It says additive, which theoretically it is but the directions say to sprinkle it over top of their litter, so as soon as your cat goes to use the box, they kick it into the littler and it dissolves into the litter because there isn’t enough, so you’d have to buy much more than one to make it worth it.

Would give zero stars, it does nothing at all. It’s already the color orange when you dump it in the litter box and it does not change color, absolute waste of money

We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment, Jpatti. We'd like to learn more about this, if we can. After your cat urinates, wait at least 4 hours. Refer to color chart on the label. If you don’t see a color change, it could be from a misinterpretation of the cat’s urine color and a typical pH reading. Since urine is mostly yellow, and the typical pH range is yellow/green, it may seem like the color crystals didn’t change color. We didn't want to have to switch litters, but our cat was peeing outside the box and we wanted to check on him so we tried this. We tried it multiple times with no success because it would just get buried when used per instructions. Also, probably 1/3 of the crystals were already orange? Which is super confusing since orange is one of the colors it may turn. Finally with the last little bit I just poured some straight on some pee that was outside of the box and it changed. So I know it can, but we never got it to the way its supposed to. I would not waste money on this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s a good product as it does control a bit of the odor caused by waste. Personally it was a bit easier to clean as it clumped a little. There’s little dust when using it and removing it. And it doesn’t stick to the carpet as much as I thought, so there little tracking.
Maybe you will have better luck

Since it is a small amount, cat buries it right away. When clean box, nothing. Or maybe she is just healthy. I was in there when she used the litter box.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used a number of products to help detect problems with urine for cats in the past and have been very disappointed that I could not find them again. I was thrilled to hear about this product as I feel that something like this can be a great tool in helping keep cats healthy!! Unfortunately, this one did not live up to it's claims. When I first opened the product it was already mostly orange (not all of them but a majority), the same color as "Houston we have a problem!" Since I was already next to the clean litterbox and I had a kitty ready and willing to use it, I spread some over the Arm & Hammer litter and put a nice thick coat down (a little more than was recommended) and the kitty jumped right in and went pee. Well, I could no longer see the product. I pushed the cat aside to take a better look, nothing. She jumped right back in to cover up her urine and when she walked away I pulled the clump out and could not see anything. - and I really looked. Not everyone's favorite activity, dissecting a urine clump.. and not something I'm willing to do on a regular basis... well I might if I had found the pellets and could tell that they were "the same" but frankly I couldn't find them. Not sure if the pellets would turn clear again if I left some of them out, I did just that in a little bowl, nope.. still orange a few weeks later. I really really really want to love this product; I hope that R&D takes another look at this and makes some tweaks to make it fully functional as it is intended to be used.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was impressed at how easy this is to use. You just sprinkle it on top of your cat's litter. It's an easy way to see if there is something amiss with my cat's health. The only downside is that I feel it's a little pricey to use all the time. I will probably use it occasionally.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked this product because you add to your kitty litter. Not having a high expense of purchasing a special litter. I was happy to know my kitty is healthy! No color changes. I will purchase if I notice a change in my kitty or on a 4-6 month basis just to check for any issues. #sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you Arm & Hammer. I have 3 fur babies. I love them so much and I care a lot about their health. I sprinkled this on both litter boxes and I didn’t see any change in color so thankfully they’re fine as far as the health IQ says. Thanks for always going above & beyond. #sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Health IQ but didn’t see any color changes in the litter so I guess everything is ok with my cat. The container did not hold enough additive to use 4 times . I was only able to use it 2 times. For the price I don’t think it is worth it. If you think you cat is having problems it might be worth trying.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] She was watching me as I placed this in her box. Very skeptical in entering. SH used box and made certain to scatter litter everywhere, I have a covered litterbox. Checked afterwards and things are within normal range. Its good to know if you believe there could be an issue. Seems to be a good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say I saw any color change when my cat used the litterbox. I'm not exactly sure what that is supposed to tell me --- use more than half of the container to cover the cat litter? Not sure if I'll try this again...IQ litter might work better since the cat won't be able to cover it all or kick it out of the litter box. #sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] #Sponsored. I was invited to try this new product out. I like to keep an eye on my cat's health and this is a handy tool to help do that. I didn't see any color change and according to the instructions that's a good thing. I like how I can add this to the litter I already have to monitor my cat's health. I also like how the different colors can alert me to different issues my pet is having.
