Description

"Philips Avent Natural bottle with the Natural Response nipple lets baby control the pace of the milk, like they do when breastfeeding. The nipples' unique opening and tip only releases milk when your baby actively drinks. When pausing to swallow and breathe no milk flows. Baby can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm, just like they do when breastfeeding. Easily combine breast and bottle feeding with a wide breast-shaped nipple with a soft feel that mimics the shape and feel of a breast; plus baby controlling the flow of milk like they do when breastfeeding. The nipple has a no-drip design which helps prevent lost milk from the tip. An anti-colic valve integrated into the nipple is designed to reduce colic and discomfort by sending air away from your baby's tummy. The ergonomic shape makes it comfortable for parents to hold and easy for small fingers to grasp. Assembly is simple with only a few parts and the wide bottle neck makes filling and cleaning easy. The Natural bottle is made from polypropylene, a BPA free material, and works with all nipples and caps from the Natural line. The Natural response nipples come in flow rates 1-5, to keep up with your baby's growth. Includes: 3 9oz Natural bottles with Whales design and the Natural Response nipples, flow 3. SCY903/71
What to expect when introducing the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple
It is totally natural for your baby to take 2-3 tries to get milk flowing from a new bottle. Unlike traditional bottles the Natural bottle is designed to only release milk when your baby is actively drinking, like what happens when babies breastfeed.
We have 5 different nipple flow rates for the Natural bottle. When looking for the right nipple flow rate, age is a guide, but your baby's approach to drinking and the feeding cues they will show will help determine when to move to a higher or lower nipple flow rate.
Packaging uses 100% plastic alternative, FSC-certified paper, with great potential to be widely circular for majority of product packaging.

    Best bottles, for Colic

These bottles helped my daughter with colic more than the bottle’s advertised specifically as colic reduced. Got a pack for baby #2 due in April. Hope she takes them.

Nipples are horrible and baby can’t get milk put

The old style natural nipples were great but these new natural response ones are terrible. My newborn baby sucks and sucks on a level 4 nipple and get 10ml out in 20 minutes. She loves the wide nipple but becomes so frustrated with her inability to get milk out.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review with us. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle. We've designed our new nipple to mimic breastfeeding, allowing your baby to drink, swallow, and breathe naturally. Milk only flows when your baby actively drinks, which means they’re always in control of the flow and can feed and pause comfortably. If your baby is already used to the previous Natural nipple, or even another traditional bottle, they may need a higher nipple flow in the Natural Response nipple because they are used to milk flowing quickly with less effort. It may be difficult for them to adjust to it at first, so try introducing the bottle when your baby is calm. The Natural Response teat is available in teat flows 1 to 6. Teat 6 is more suitable for thicker liquids or babies who want a fast flow. If the issue persists, please get in touch via Social Media. We’re available on Facebook (@Philips) and X (@PhilipsCare). Don’t worry, if you don’t use Social Media, you can also reach out to us via the contact page: www.Philips.com/contact. Best regards, Philips Consumer Care

Incorrect nipple size based on the description

The product description says medium nipple for 3 - 6 months. From the section of choose right nipple size for your baby, Flow 4 is for 3m+ baby. But guess what the bottle comes with a Flow 3 which is 1m+. While the product is satisfactory, the information is very deceiving. So bare in mind that for your 3 months old baby you will have to buy separate nipples that is Flow 4.

    Extremely finicky, do not buy

Nipples are extremely finicky and most of the time baby won't get any milk. Philips doesn't tell you how to properly assemble the bottles. You need to align the notch on the plastic ring with the notch on the silicone nipple. You also should have the nipple notch either up or down when feeding, not sideways (Philips doesn't give any instructions). Even doing so half of the time baby won't get anything. This morning my baby fed 1oz in 15 minutes with the size 2 nipple, which is the perfect rate for her. I stopped to burp her and after that she couldn't get any more milk for over 30 minutes (clearly not a problem with assembly, with nipple size, or with baby; just that the nipples are finicky). I tried 2 other Avent bottles and the same thing happened with all of them

Poor attachment between the bottle and the plastic nipple ring results in spillage
1 reply from Philips Consumer Care team - 11 months ago
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review, and we're sorry to hear that your Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle is leaking. We would like to inform you that incorrect assembly causes leakage in 50% of cases. Please ensure that the nipple is properly inserted through the screw ring and securely tightened on the bottle without being overtightened. Wet glass bottles can be particularly difficult to close as they may slip. Therefore, it is best to dry the bottle before closing it. You may also find more information on how to prevent leakage by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjytab_9-hU. We hope this helps address the problem. If the problem persists, please reach out to us via social media. We are available on Facebook (@Philips) and X (@PhilipsCare). We have been using Philips avent bottles for our son since he was born, and have tried a variety of their teats. The new anti-colic valves are the only ones he has had any issues with - he will suck on these for much longer than on his other ones and yet not be able to get much milk out at all. It might just be a specific problem for him, but it would be nice to have the option of buying the bottles with the older version of the teats

Easy tearing though cleaning after one month

I am not sure how to avoid the tearing of the nipple hole. Three nipples total already got a crack when we only cleaned with our hands (pinkie finger). I kept thinking my baby doesn't want to drink only to find out the nipple was broken again. He was thirsty but got splattered with milk through the big opening. I am glad I noticed and had ordered spares. He finally drank after I switched the nipple to a new one! How can I avoid the tearing? I need to clean the inside of the tip since it gets oily!

These nipples encouraged biting, not good for moms trying to breastfeed and bottle feed. The nipple should be longer to get deeper into the baby's mouth. Also frustrating that these nipples aren't interchangeable with the plastic Avent bottles.

Hi Bexs, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle. We want to assure you that our nipple is specifically designed to mimic the breast for seamless breast and bottle feeding transitions, reducing confusion for your baby. The unique design ensures milk is released only when your little one actively drinks, mirroring the natural breastfeeding process and minimizing spills. Regarding compatibility, both Natural and Natural Response bottles share the same screw ring, offering interchangeability between the two. Additionally, our products are compatible with Anti-colic bottles, screw rings, and nipples, providing flexibility in your feeding routine. You have to close the bottle JUST right for it to seal. Otherwise you will find yourself changing your baby out of a milk soaked onesie in the middle of the night. We’ve had to make a habit of testing the leakage before each feed. User error perhaps, but it happens enough to warrant this review.

They come apart easily for cleaning and are durable and can grow with baby. I use them for feeding and breast milk storage. So far I am very happy with these products.

I loved these bottles with my first child, so when I had my second child I got another set and have regretted it. The new nipple design has such a slow flow, my kid gets frustrated and gives up on the bottle. I was hoping to be able to pump and switch off overnight feeds with my husband, but definitely can’t until we find a bottle that works.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you are not happy with the flow rate of the Philips natural response nipple. Our new Natural Response Nipple lets your baby use their natural drinking rhythm, like they do when breastfeeding. While age is a guide, we recommend watching your little one’s cues to find the best nipple flow. We designed the nipple range to work for all different drinking patterns, from fast and enthusiastic to slow and steady. The Natural Response Nipple is available in nipple flows 1 to 5. The flow rate of milk they get from the nipple is linked to how enthusiastically or steadily they drink as they develop. Enthusiastic drinkers use strong suction and compression while drinking, resulting in greater milk flow, so they usually need a lower nipple flow from the Natural Response range (such as nipple number 1 or 2) to avoid overflow. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple 4 or 5) to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. You can start with the nipple that comes with the bottle and adjust from there. If after a few feeding attempts you have no success, consider changing to a different nipple flow. You might need a higher flow if you see your baby struggling to get milk out or playing with the nipple. If this does not help or you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available on Facebook (@Philips) and Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Don’t worry, if you don’t use social media, you can also reach out to us via the contact page: www.Philips.com/contact. Hope to speak to you soon. Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
