Description

Philips Avent Natural bottle with the Natural Response nipple lets baby control the pace of the milk, like they do when breastfeeding. The nipples' unique opening and tip only releases milk when your baby actively drinks. When pausing to swallow and breathe no milk flows. Baby can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm, just like they do when breastfeeding. Easily combine breast and bottle feeding with a wide breast-shaped nipple with a soft feel that mimics the shape and feel of a breast; plus baby controlling the flow of milk like they do when breastfeeding. The nipple has a no-drip design which helps prevent lost milk from the tip. An anti-colic valve integrated into the nipple is designed to reduce colic and discomfort by sending air away from your baby's tummy. The ergonomic shape makes it comfortable for parents to hold and easy for small fingers to grasp. Assembly is simple with only a few parts and the wide bottle neck makes filling and cleaning easy. The Natural bottle is made from polypropylene, a BPA free material, and works with all nipples and caps from the Natural line. The Natural response nipples come in flow rates 1-5, to keep up with your baby's growth. Includes: 3 9oz Natural bottles with Natural Response nipples, flow 3. SCY903/93

What to expect when introducing the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple:

-It's totally natural for your baby to take 2-3 tries to get milk flowing from a new bottle. Unlike traditional bottles the Natural bottle is designed to only release milk when your baby is actively drinking, like what happens when babies breastfeed.

-We have 5 different nipple flow rates for the Natural bottle. When looking for the right nipple flow rate, age is a guide, but your baby's approach to drinking and the feeding cues they will show will help determine when to move to a higher or lower nipple flow rate.

Packaging uses 100% plastic alternative, FSC-certified paper, with great potential to be widely circular for majority of product packaging.

Q: This nipple does not seem to allow any flow compared to the old design. Baby takes over an hour to drink hardly one ounce, unlike 4 ounces in 5 minutes with the old design. Tried three sizes -1, 2, 3.

submitted by Projecteron - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi! The different nipples in each range let your baby drink at their preferred pace so you can find one that best suits your baby. Our new Natural Response Nipples release milk only when your baby actively drinks while our Anti-Colic nipples are free flowing. Age indication can be a helpful guidance, but always follow your baby's cues. Start with the nipple that comes with the bottle. Q: Can I warm the bottle up in the microwave without the lid on?

submitted by anonymous - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi! Only place the container in the microwave, without the screw ring, nipple or cap. Warming infant food or beverages in a microwave is not advised. Food and beverages that have been microwaved may lose important nutrients and may reach high local temperatures. Ensure that heated food and beverages are properly stirred to ensure even heating if you do opt to use the microwave. Before serving, always check the temperature.

THESE BOTTLES SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF SHELVES

These bottles should be taken off the market and recalled!!! Tried the 4 oz bottles for my newborn and found that he worked so hard sucking and getting next to nothing to eat. He would take an hour to get 2oz down if he didn’t fall asleep during the feed first. Fast forward to my child’s 2 week appt…he not only lost his birth weight which is normal, but he dropped from 7.10 to 7.4 and hasnt gained anything back. We tried different formula, different nipple flows…nothing worked. We finally bought a different bottle type all together after these bottles essentially were starving my baby and he began to put on weight quickly. Don’t buy these bottles, they should be recalled.

I like them, not a lot of parts to clean like others. But I’m having the opposite problem as everyone else . My baby is almost 5 months and choking on the flow 2 nipples they are really fast for her. Baby really has to use that sucking reflex with the back of tongue to get the milk out since these don’t drip or leak. There just very inconsistent I have probably about 4 flow 2 nipples that very fast then one is so slow but they are all the same flow 2 so I don’t know what’s going on

Nipples are horrible and baby can’t get milk put

The old style natural nipples were great but these new natural response ones are terrible. My newborn baby sucks and sucks on a level 4 nipple and get 10ml out in 20 minutes. She loves the wide nipple but becomes so frustrated with her inability to get milk out.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review with us. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle. We've designed our new nipple to mimic breastfeeding, allowing your baby to drink, swallow, and breathe naturally. Milk only flows when your baby actively drinks, which means they’re always in control of the flow and can feed and pause comfortably. If your baby is already used to the previous Natural nipple, or even another traditional bottle, they may need a higher nipple flow in the Natural Response nipple because they are used to milk flowing quickly with less effort. It may be difficult for them to adjust to it at first, so try introducing the bottle when your baby is calm. The Natural Response teat is available in teat flows 1 to 6. Teat 6 is more suitable for thicker liquids or babies who want a fast flow. If the issue persists, please get in touch via Social Media. We’re available on Facebook (@Philips) and X (@PhilipsCare). Don’t worry, if you don’t use Social Media, you can also reach out to us via the contact page: www.Philips.com/contact. Best regards, Philips Consumer Care

my son's almost 4 months and has been an avent bottle baby since around 2 weeks old . I love the smaller ones he was using but it was time to upgrade since he takes more ounces now . the nipple for some reason so easily folds in on itself and tries to retreat into the bottle itself ? it happened 4 times in one 7oz feeding alone . first time using it . not impressed , and I liked them originally because he wasn't covered in milk like other bottles made him , but I'll fault that to the possibility of him needing to get used to the quicker flow. just had higher hopes for these nipples. I recommend the 4oz ones for sure ! not so much these.

New nipples don't work well

I've always loved these bottles, but the new nipple is terrible. We used the size 1 with the rectangular looking air valve, and it works great. These new circular air valves must be defective because even with the size 3 nipple, my 4 month old can't get anything out. Super disappointed with the new nipples.

Incorrect nipple size based on the description

The product description says medium nipple for 3 - 6 months. From the section of choose right nipple size for your baby, Flow 4 is for 3m+ baby. But guess what the bottle comes with a Flow 3 which is 1m+. While the product is satisfactory, the information is very deceiving. So bare in mind that for your 3 months old baby you will have to buy separate nipples that is Flow 4.

We started our baby out on Dr Browns bottles which we noticed would make our baby choke because milk is able to flow freely out and leak everywhere when you lean the bottle. After seeing so many mixed reviews we decided to try these for him with the natural response nipple and our baby took to it immediately. He has less gas pain and no longer chokes while he’s eating, and we also aren’t wasting breastmilk anymore from it just pouring out of the nipple constantly. Very glad we gave these a chance!

Extremely finicky, do not buy

1 out of 5 stars
esabs - 7 months ago

Nipples are extremely finicky and most of the time baby won't get any milk. Philips doesn't tell you how to properly assemble the bottles. You need to align the notch on the plastic ring with the notch on the silicone nipple. You also should have the nipple notch either up or down when feeding, not sideways (Philips doesn't give any instructions). Even doing so half of the time baby won't get anything. This morning my baby fed 1oz in 15 minutes with the size 2 nipple, which is the perfect rate for her. I stopped to burp her and after that she couldn't get any more milk for over 30 minutes (clearly not a problem with assembly, with nipple size, or with baby; just that the nipples are finicky). I tried 2 other Avent bottles and the same thing happened with all of them

These bottles have really changed. I used them with my daughter 10 years ago and had no issues. I work in childcare and some of the babies use this bottle. The nipple is horrible no matter what level it is! Baby is sucking so hard and the milk is not coming out. Baby is getting frustrated and hungry. Do not buy these! They need to go back to the older nipple design.

Poor attachment between the bottle and the plastic nipple ring results in spillage
1 reply from Philips Consumer Care team - 11 months ago
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review, and we're sorry to hear that your Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle is leaking. We would like to inform you that incorrect assembly causes leakage in 50% of cases. Please ensure that the nipple is properly inserted through the screw ring and securely tightened on the bottle without being overtightened. Wet glass bottles can be particularly difficult to close as they may slip. Therefore, it is best to dry the bottle before closing it. You may also find more information on how to prevent leakage by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjytab_9-hU. We hope this helps address the problem. If the problem persists, please reach out to us via social media. We are available on Facebook (@Philips) and X (@PhilipsCare). Great bottles, terrible teats

We have been using Philips avent bottles for our son since he was born, and have tried a variety of their teats. The new anti-colic valves are the only ones he has had any issues with - he will suck on these for much longer than on his other ones and yet not be able to get much milk out at all. It might just be a specific problem for him, but it would be nice to have the option of buying the bottles with the older version of the teats
