Q: What is NPK of the Sta Green Potting Mix?
A: Hi Linda! While we can't provide the exact NPK (nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium) values for Sta-Green's Potting Mix, Back to the Roots Organic Raised Bed Soil has an NPK of 0.18-0.04-0.04. These numbers may seem low at first glance, but they're typical for organic fertilizers. Organic options are designed to be gentler, releasing nutrients slowly over time to support long-term plant health and reduce the risk of overfeeding. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at contact@backtotheroots.com — we're always happy to help!

Q: What are the ingredients of this soil?
A: Hi Lauren! Our soils are made from processed forest products, coir, limestone, fertilizer, mycorrhizae, and moisture-balancing yucca. Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Please read through each soil bag's exact ingredients in case you have any allergies to any of these ingredients. If very severe, we'd recommend being careful using our soils & talking to a doctor first. All of our bagged soil has poultry litter, feather meal, and sulfate of potash. Our Organic Raised Bed Mix also has Gypsum to improve soil health. Please feel free to reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com with questions or concerns! We're here to help.

Q: Is it okay/normal for this to be full of little mushrooms? I'm using it in buckets indoors for tomatoes.
A: Hi Justme! Mushrooms are a sign your soil is biologically alive and healthy; you can pinch the tops off and throw them out, but it could signal that the growing conditions are too humid and moist. Please feel free to send photos to contact@backtotheroots.com, we would be happy to help you grow.

Q: I opened a bag today and it is almost all powder. The normal mix is the opposite of powder. Any ideas a)what happened, b)what it is and c)how to use it so it is safe to use for vegetable plants?
A: Hi FHJ52! If you wouldn't mind sending a photo of your soil to contact@backtotheroots.com, we would be happy to have a look to see what's happening with your soil. If need be, we are happy to help with a refund or replacement.
