Back to the Roots Organic Raised Bed Mix is a great soil for growing edible plants, including herbs, veggies, and fruits, in a raised garden bed or container. This premium soil blend contains all-purpose plant food to help grow bigger plants*, dolomitic limestone to adjust pH, and yucca extract (saponin) for moisture control, all blended with gypsum for better water absorption. Our raised bed mix is peat-free, meaning that instead of imported peat, the base of our soils is made from upcycled plant matter and wood fines. The Back to the Roots Organic Raised Bed Mix is a great addition to your at-home gardening supplies!

A: Hi Lauren! Our soils are made from processed forest products, coir, limestone, fertilizer, mycorrhizae, and moisture-balancing yucca. Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Please read through each soil bag's exact ingredients in case you have any allergies to any of these ingredients. If very severe, we'd recommend being careful using our soils & talking to a doctor first. All of our bagged soil has poultry litter, feather meal, and sulfate of potash. Q: Is it okay/normal for this to be full of little mushrooms? I'm using it in buckets indoors for tomatoes.

Q: I opened a bag today and it is almost all powder. The normal mix is the opposite of powder. Any ideas a)what happened, b)what it is and c)how to use it so it is safe to use for vegetable plants?

This soil is going to be used specifically for my raised bed, I will be planting herbs and veggies. The blend of the soil is not completely filled with fillers such as wood pieces. I did have the bag sitting for some time, I wasn’t able to use it right away because of the weather, when I opened it there was no of mold, which means great packaging! Not to mention this soil is Organic!! I’m excited to use this soil and see how it pairs with my veggies. I would definitely recommend this soil for fellow gardeners!

Do not buy - full of pests and bugs and flies. I had to throw away our indoor plants and our outdoor garden is riddled with fruit flies now. I thought they would go away but I was terribly mistaken. So angry.

The soil is rich, well-aerated, and retains moisture beautifully, making it perfect for my raised garden beds. My plants responded well to it, showing strong, healthy growth within just a few weeks. I really wish Influencer would get with the seasons on certain items. It retains water well. It had a lot of large clumps of it in the bag. It was packaged securely for 23lb bag. It doesn't smell like manure or anything.

I recently learned that choosing a peat-free mix, you're helping reduce environmental damage and supporting more sustainable gardening practices! This soil is perfect for raised beds and any kind of above-ground planting. I’m using it for everything from herbs to veggie. You can even use it for fruits. I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I'm not used to ever having soil shipped to me and be a good price. I have a raised garden bed and this is doing awesome in it. I actually went and bought another bag as my veggies are doing well. Definitely plan to buy more next year.
