First, this wont be a substitute for your heavy duty gasoline saw. That said, I’ve used it to cut up a dozen cords of downed wood under 10” over the past three years and even limb some larger downed trees. Pros: quick to put into use, portable since no spare gas needed, one battery typically will cut up a small hardwood, great value for the money. Cons: not as fast as a gas saw, limited by 12” bar (though very few really large trees anyway).

The people complaining about it leaking oil just need to put less oil in. Make sure you put oil in the saw everytime you use it but only as much as it needs for that session and store it over some cardboard or something. It will be worth it to have a battery powered saw that is far better than the other battery powered saws in the same price range. Only the Stihl battery powered chainsaws are better and they cost twice to three times more.

Have used this saw only 3 or 4 times since receiving as a gift. At first all worked well and I was quite happy. Then I noticed a puddle of oil under the saw where I store it and later noticed the chain and bar were not getting oiled at all (plenty of oil in the tank and oil ports are clear). Contacted B&D and they said, sorry, out of warranty.

I think some leaking is actually normal, but is there a way to store it so the chain oil doesn't keep leaking out?

Great looking chainsaw! Problem is I can’t loosen the chain or tighten. The knob is locked or jammed. Or I guess I just bought a lemon. Big issue though! Anymore force on the knob an I would break it

I love this chainsaw. It is so handy and lightweight and I think it cuts well enough for what I use it for. It's not powerful like a gas powered, stinky and loud, chainsaw. Instead there is minimal noise, no smells, and it cuts up anything you want to cut up. I love this saw. If you are female as I am, this saw will give you so much freedom to do your own work and it's lightweight.

I had several small branches to cut. I didn't want the hastle of mixing gas & oil, so I thought about a battery one. I researched online and found this chainsaw had all the features I wanted. Being this was my first purchase of a battery device, I purchased an additional battery thinking I would need it. I was surprised at how much power this had making easy work of the branches (2 inch to 4 inch size branches I was cutting). I was surprised that I didn't need the other charged battery. This saw does like it's chain oil as I had to fill the reservoir 3 times. Only negative experience was there was oil left in the reservoir when I finished. A few days later, i went back to use the saw and the leftover oil had leaked out. I believe i read somewhere this would happen. I know better next time. This saw isn't meant to drop a big tree, but for small branches it is great. I highly recommend this product.

I bought this a year ago. I was skeptical about a battery operated chainsaw but after trying it I was amazed. I liked it so well I bought One for my son and daughter. My son said that when his friends saw how good his worked, they wanted one to.

I find this saw to be very easy to use and maintain even in the field. The battery last for a good amount of time to get the job done. The charger does a full charge in a short amount of time. I would recommend, and have, this saw to the beginner.

I have owned this chain saw for over two years. It has worked flawlessly. It is a remarkably strong chain saw. I am amazed by how well it cuts. It has been used to cut down at least 200 small trees and many large limbs. It has not needed repair parts, but I know they are readily available. I have purchase extra chains, because the replacement chains are less expensive than sharpening. B&D and other brand chains are readily available at low prices. This is one of several 40v products that I own. My only problem with any of these 40v products is that two battery units have failed (I have had at least 6 products with 40v batteries, and I bought two extra batteries, when on sale). It would be nice if B&D added a telescoping 40v tree-limb pruning saw.

I bought this saw for home use, but I needed a chainsaw when called out for trees on road at our volunteer fire department this 12 inch blade would do for most of the calls. It was used to clear roads after a hurricane small trees and branches.

We are renting a house with a LOT of old dying pine trees interspersed with sweetgums coming up everywhere. When we moved here, English and poison ivy had almost eaten all the trees, which I'm working to eradicate. I don't have the skill or experience to handle the whopper pines, but after watching training videos on YouTube, I've been able to take down a number of the smaller pines and sweetgums myself and buck them into short lengths for use as forest garden edging and hugelkultur materials. The main thing I'm trying to do is open up the property to more sunlight and return a portion of the forested area to deciduous hardwoods; this means I have to think carefully about what I'm doing and observe the impact of taking a tree down here, a tree down there. A tree service would have charged me several thousand dollars to thin out what I have been able to do myself, me, a little old lady under five feet tall with badly arthritic hands! I love the power and control this saw gives me! Just learn the techniques and safety cautions, and regularly clean and sharpen your saw, and you'll be able to do it, too.

I honestly didn't think this saw was going to be nearly as useful as it is. It cuts through up to 7" Trees so far. Very easy to handle and battery lasts for a good few hours. Gotta say I'm not usually impressed, but this saw is great.
