Q: Trying to help a feral cat. Can I grind or break pill up in food?

submitted by Bert - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes you can crush & mix in food

submitted byVettech - 6 years ago
  • A: I also have feral cats. I think that I will contact the company to see if the medicine can be broken up or crushed.

submitted byRainbow - 6 years ago
  • A: I contacted the company, and the operator read the insert and she said A. that this is only for 24 hour use, you give it to get the fleas off of some poor animal/cat that is just infested beyond comfort, and B. follow this pill up with some kind of 30 day topical product (as long as other cats aren't grooming!) AND c. Their final word on it is don't crush it. I am in same boat - helping a feral cat I cannot pick up, and I want to put it in the food. Try to surround the pill with something good (and I am still going to go buy this product and hope to report back on how big it is because I'm right there with people - need to cut it in half just in hopes that 1/2 goes down without the cat noticing.

Q: I also would like to know if it kills the eggs?

submitted by Corn - 8 months ago
  • A: PetArmor CAPACTION (nitenpyram) kills adult fleas before they can lay eggs. Additional treatments of PetArmor CAPACTION (nitenpyram) may be required as existing flea larvae emerge into adults.

Q: Can this be used in addition to a topical treatment?

submitted by Jhf287 - 9 months ago
  • A: If you are currently using a monthly flea preventive and it fails, you may administer PetArmor® CAPACTION® (nitenpyram) daily, as needed, for quick relief against a flea infestation. PetArmor® CAPACTION® (nitenpyram) may also be used with flea shampoos, heartworm preventives, antibiotics, vaccines, and deworming medications.

To help control an active flea infestation, you may give your pet the recommended dose as often as once per day. For additional help, please call our customer care team at 1-800-781-4738.

Q: How often do you give your cat the pill? Are the ingredients similar to the flea medication that a Veterinarian would write a prescribe for fleas?

submitted by dmq - 2 years ago
  • A: CAPACTION is considered a treatment for pets. A Single dose of CAPACTION should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day.

Flea eggs everywhere!!!

3 out of 5 stars
sheralynb - 5 months ago
originally posted on PetArmor
It appears to be working because it's making the fleas go crazy and therefore also the cats. But it also made the fleas dump thousands of eggs. I saw them all over the table my cat was sitting on, it looked like somebody shook a saltshaker over it. I certainly hope the eggs are premature or non-viable! Had I known this I would have locked the cats outside. I wonder if you are aware of this reaction? I am VERY concerned that this will result in a massive infestation. Please advise.

It kills fleas fast. It helps if you’re waiting to take the cat to the vet to get a longer term flea solution.

Works on house cats but NOT ON strays

4 out of 5 stars

Targetluver - 6 months ago
Works and doesn’t work, let me explain. I feed 6 strays and 2 house cats who have never set foot outside in their 2 yrs of life. The strays brought fleas recently to my indoor cats, I bought this treatment and showered them w head and shoulders and significant decrease in fleas. I comb them daily. This don’t work on the strays, gave them pills but they still have obvious fleas on their fur. I’ve spent hundreds on these 6 strays on these pills, I think this treatment works along with frequent combing w flea comb and weekly baths. The strays, i obviously can’t bathe them… I wish the company could mail me out some free samples!! Ohh, and I crush the pills into fine powder and mix in half a can of albacore tuna (human tuna). They are hard to crush. They don’t dissolve in water…

Discovered our cats had fleas after one jumped on me. Panicked a immediately went to target and found these great pills. After 2 days along with a topical treatment I checked my cats and they no longer have fleas. Packaging says it safe to give at least one per day . I’m still finding a few fleas around the house so I will continue giving until day 6 but I am very pleased with the results after 2 days. My cats are picky eaters so I have to crush and mix the pills with their food.

Highly effective to get rid of mild infestation. I definitely recommend following up with a topical or oral flea medication. It's also very small so easy to crush and mix in with their food. I used canned food but it also dissolves well in a bit of water put on top of food!

My cat had a really bad flea infestation and I tried every thing dawn dish soap several vet trips for flea meds everything. I stumbled across this while searching for Capstar near me but saw this cheaper option. It worked almost immediately they began falling off and crawling to her face so 30 minutes after I gave her a bath and continued to give her all 6 tablets each day and she hasn’t itched at all. Nor have I brushed any out. No side effects on her and she is only 3 months old about 5lbs or less. Buy it!

I personally won’t be buying any other flea meds but these! The price is great for 6 capsules, they work FAST and are even safe to give your cats as often as once per day if the first pill didn’t get them all. But trust me, the first pill will but I loved being able to give my cats another dose just to get the fleas that may have been around the house. :)

I've put on my cat and she seems to get calmer. I ordered some more and am having my home treated for an outbreak "gift" from my son. I'm also using Pet Armor Plus. The support staff with this company is outstanding. Even the veterinarian talked with me. So nice to have real people to help you.
