Q: What is the Prop 65 warning -- BPA, lead? Do they come in contact with the water? Is the interior of the lid stainless steel?
A: TargetShopper asked about the specific materials contained within the product. The A: responder gave a boilerplate answer which did not offer specifics. I will try to post a similar question.

California Proposition 65 law requires manufacturers to notify their customers if a product contains any of the now 1,000 plus listed chemicals that may cause cancer or reproductive harm (in the opinion of the State of California). Since the majority of manufacturing materials are made from various chemical compounds, it is impossible for manufacturers to produce products without at least one of the 1,000 plus listed chemicals being present in products. Chefman takes product safety and compliance to the law very seriously. As such, all Chefman products meet or exceed National and International standards for electrical and chemical safety. Q: What is the little stainless steel screw inside of the kettle there for?
A: Looks to be a heating element probe, not a tea infuser as stated by Chefman

Q: The little piece inside looks like a heating probe - it that what it is and also, the plastic part of this, is it BPA free?
A: All of the parts of our appliances that come into contact with food or water are BPA free.

Q: Can you turn the beep off
A: In order to disable the beeping and mute the kettle, the kettle must be on the base, not in use. Press the Down Arrow & Start/Stop for 5 seconds- It will display Mute- repeat to enable sound

Q: DOSE THE INSIDE GET RUSTED OR IS IT RUST FREE I WOULD LIKE TO PLEASE
A: The inside of the unit will not rust, but you may see discolored mineral deposits from mineral rich water if the unit is not regularly maintained using the cleaning methods in the provided user guide.
