The recipes are delicious as always, healthy with many substitution options for different nutritional/diet requirements. However, the title is misleading. The recipes have the cook time on them but then have an added ingredient such as a sauce or spice mix, which also needs to be made. They tend to add 15 minutes to an hour to the cook time, which is tough for this busy mom! It wouldn’t be an issue of the cook times reflected it but it’s definitely a curve ball when I’m in the middle of a recipe. I have all of Danielle Walker’s cookbooks and the recipes are all exceptionally delicious, but I just don’t love the format of this particular one.
We Love Danielle! :)

My family loves all of Danielle’s recipes. I recently purchased this cookbook, and I love how many recipes are quick and easy. We made the sticky beef tonight, and it was amazing! Can’t wait to make more recipes from this book.

I’m on my second week of cooking from Healthy in a Hurry and I’m in awe of how every single recipe has been delicious! I made the pork and polenta yesterday and it is fantastic! Healthy in a Hurry has reinforced that healthy doesn’t need to feel restricted AND it’s delicious. I love having this resource to recommend to nutrition clients! Danielle knocks it out of the park once again with this cookbook!

The recipes are good, but her prep and cooking times seem way off. These recipes are taking longer to make.

What is there to say but WOW! She has completely knocked it out of the park. It is beautiful, well-written and the recipes are amazing. There are three things I love best about this cookbook. First, is all the tips, tricks, and tidbits she offers throughout. The QR Codes are also fantastic. I love the videos and I think for a newbie to this type of cooking, and even for a seasoned cook, these extras really add amazing value to the book. The second thing I love is the amount of “foundation recipes,” as I call them, that she has included. Things like spice mixes, porridge base, polenta, salad dressings, aioli, enchilada sauces, etc. These are often things that are missing in a paleo-type diet and being able to have recipes to fill these gaps is amazing. My third favorite thing I love is how accessible these recipes are for everyone. Even if you don’t have or want to eat paleo, SCD, gluten free, etc., these recipes are still perfect for everyone. In closing, I was fortunate enough to be a recipe tester for this cookbook, I can attest to the ease, quick-cooking, and most of all, the amazing deliciousness of the recipes. It has never been easier to be “Healthy in a Hurry.” Thank you Danielle!
A MUST have!

I have all of Danielle's cookbooks, but this one was the most anticipated my me because most of the recipes can be prepared in under 30 minutes with 10 ingredients of less. And a huge surprise was the QR codes sprinkled throughout the book for additional videos and resources. Danielle outdid herself on this one.

I bought my copy at a different retailer before realziing it's sold at Target. I wanted to leave a review here, too, for anyone who is on the fence. The actual book itself it beautifully done. Gorgeous photography, well-organized and generous content (tons of recipes, info, meal plans, QR codes which was a nice surprise!) Even the texture of the cover and lettering. It's as much a piece of art for that let alone the recipes. As for the recipes, I've only had my copy for a few days but made the sweet and sour pork substituted with chicken, salmon vegetable packets, and Pineapple Whip. They were quick, easy and healthy as the title promises! Highly recommend especially for paleo, gluten free, scd, whole30 but really this is a book for anyone who wants fresh, healthier, quick meals (30 minutes or less) Would suggest reading the introduction before diving into cooking. Danielle explains a few things, including a tip for preparing spice mixes and certain sauces in advance so recipes can be thrown together fast. So for example, I made the stir fry sauce for the salmon packets early and I have plenty left for next time!
Great resource for busy families! Thoughtfully designed.

Although I adore Danielle Walker's cookbooks and have the whole collection, we mostly cook very simply- protein, veggies, starch, seasonings or sauce. We mostly take time to cook more decadent things over the holidays. (Our MOST used cookbook is Danielle's "Celebrations" cookbook, which was life changing for our holidays with extended family- they can't tell it any of the goodies are paleo, and just want us to share recipes/bring the yumminess every year.) I already can see that this latest offering will be well-used in no time- it probably will overtake Celebrations as our most used cookbook in no time. The recipes are diverse in flavor, beautifully photographed, and each one contains so many tips, variations, and tricks. Danielle is so thoughtful and is so relatable as she educates the home cook throughout the pages. We have gluten-free, grain-free, and unrestricted eaters in our family, and everyone already has picked recipes to try. Ev I love that Danielle is offering a line of spice blends that will make prep even faster (but she includes recipes for the spices in the book if you prefer to make the blends yourself). Each recipe has prep time, cook time, dietary guidelines (GF, DF, Whole 30, etc) and there are even a few QR codes that lead to video tutorials. There are meal plans, discussion of budget vs convenience, and a beautiful recipe index in the back with thumbnails of each recipe, each with cooking time! So well thought out. I am so impressed by this book, and can't wait to try more recipes! The few we have tried that were available ahead of the release of the book were quick and amazing! I'm so grateful for this beautiful resource, and highly recommend it!

Everything from Danielle Walker is AMAZING! Whether you eat paleo or just gluten free you can expect so much flavor from each of her recipes. I love all of her books and this one exceeded expectations for sure! There are QR codes throughout the book to scan for extra content or videos which is an excellent addition to her newest cookbook. I’d go as far to say Danielle is the paleo queen of American cuisine!! She has incredible healthy recipes for Tex mex, Chinese takeout, Midwest casseroles (Nebraska girl here) and don’t even get me started on all the desserts. BUY. THIS. BOOK. Or just everything from DW!!!

I’m never disappointed with Danielle’s recipes. My efforts are always rewarded with amazing flavor, texture, and the knowledge that I’m nourishing my body. Book includes several sauces and spice mixes with different ways to use them, as well as suggestions for store-bought for more time savings. She gives ideas on how to repurpose leftovers for healthful lunches. Any instant pot recipe includes alternative cooking methods. There's even 7 delicious desserts included. Beautiful photography, easy to read and follow. (Seek out this author’s other titles for yummy baked goods.)

This is so much more then a cookbook. It’s filled with how to meal prep, meal plans, grocery item tips, organized by how you cook and added QR codes for extra content. If you are like me and challenged at getting dinner on the table fast this is a life saver! I’ve loved Danielle’s cookbooks for years because all the recipes are gluten free and celiac safe but more importantly they taste amazing. I always know that I can make any dish for guests without trying it and they will love it. I have a foodie husband and two teen boys that have loved every recipe I’ve made from this book.
My favorite healthy cookbook!

I own many cookbooks. My journey from being unable to get out of bed 8 years ago and subsequent diagnoses of Hashimoto's, PTSD, Orthostatic Dysfunction, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have at times left me with little energy to prepare meals despite a healthy cookbook "library". With this cookbook, Danielle has everything so well-organized that last night I sat for an hour writing a meal plan for the next two weeks, a shopping list, and which ones could have portions frozen for later use. I fell asleep elated for what I could do again in the kitchen. Aside from crazy good recipes (love Disney DoleWhip? Huevos Rancheros? Stir Fry? Mac n Cheese?), she has it marked with QR codes - the tiny little boxes you can scan for: additional materials to plan, including videos, tutorials, shopping lists, and more recipes. This is two cookbooks in one. The pictures are gorgeous, she includes preferred foods for cleanest ingredients and budget consciousness, and there are tons of ideas to mix and match. It's just stunning in how much she has packed in. ...And she did much of her writing during the pandemic while healing from a severe flare that almost took her life just a year prior in Fall 2019 (read Food Saved Me, her memoir out last year, if you haven't heard of it). Hubby working at home, kids homeschooling, and needing to feed her family quickly but healthily. I'm excited to put this book into action as I continue my own healing journey, but better yet sharing it with family and friends who have all come to love her recipes for how great they taste, regardless of what nutrition needs someone might have.
