weird logic, terrible connectivity to phone, menus stink. If i had the original packaging i would return it. Limited watch faces. They need to stick to GPS and marine navigation and forget the smart watch business. Apple and Samsung are making you look like fools.
It works!

The price is what made me decide on the forerunner 55. That being said, of course the more economical option does not have as many features. The screen is definitely the biggest downside. Lacks many colors and the display is not nearly as pretty as the more expensive ones. I am happy that it all the trackers work though.
Great product

This was a Christmas gift to me from my parents, and I love the watch. This is also due to the fact that my old one did not work well. I really like how easy it is to start an activity, but for some reasons it’s having trouble uploading my activities to my running app. Great product

I have found it very difficult to re-set to clock face. have to turn off and on and then does not always reset. Don't have a manual, so not sure what is the problem. Wife gave it to me for Christmas. no manual, unless you can read the very fine print

I’ve had my Forerunner 55 a few weeks and it’s been great for running and counting steps. I’m overall very pleased with it. The only negative is how often I have to charge it, even when I’m not using the GPS. It runs low enough that I’m charging it daily.
Lots of Function … Too much?

I bought the Forerunner 55 to replace my 15 which finally wore out. The 15 was Start, Stop , Save with time and distance. That’s all I wanted. I still haven’t figured out how to accomplish that simple task with the 55. I stood out in the freezing cold the other day trying to get it to start. There were lots of confusing screens that got in the way. Finally, I just said oh well and started running without tracking. I suspect this is more my problem than the watch’s problem. I own several Garmin products from run, bike, and marine and all are top notch.

I Got this watch as a Christmas gift from some family and I'm glad I did! It was a little confusing to work in the beginning but I's amazing now! I have dropped so much time off of my PR.

I had it for a few weeks; replaced my Forerunner 35. Still getting use to it. Difficult to read since font is so small. Watch band seems to be an improvement from the 35 version — time will tell.
Where’s the strength training option?

I received this as a gift and it works well but I was disappointed that there is no strength option. Even runners lift weights. This seems to be a common complaint about this watch which makes me wonder why this issue hasn’t been fixed. I also had to carry the user manual around with me for a week to figure out which of the 5 buttons did what…once I figured everything out it works fine but I wish it was simpler to navigate.
Perfect accuracy

I've been a Garmin user for years. Loved my Forerunner 45 but the battery started to be unreliable after 4+ years. Forerunner 55 was advertised as the next model in the line and as a basic GPS watch, no extra bells and whistles. I have found, however, that there are quite a few extra bells and whistles and with my limited tech knowledge it's been a challenge to set it up the way I want and get the data I want. Downloaded the owner's manual but still struggling. I DO love the longer battery life, and I love that it tells you what percent of battery is left instead of guessing the number of green bars. I also love that it locks on to the GPS really quickly. I'm sure the rest of my issues will get sorted out eventually and then it will be smooth sailing - or running.
Wish I got this months ago

Keep going - 25 days ago

I was advised to get a fitness tracker for taking walks 2x per day that kept my heartrate between 110 and 120bpm. I tried several cheaper watches that all seemed to have issues of one kind or another. Out of the box, this watch has a learning curve, but I was able to program it to suit me and it is the most reliable watch I've tried. I had to play around with face displays to find what was readable. Once I found that, everything else has been great. I'm dealing with contrast problems for reading so I'm sure most people can find a face display they are happy with easier than me. If I take my phone with me when using the app, it gives me audible updates so I don't have to keep looking at the watch. This is helpful when walking outside in temperatures that require bundling up. Overall, this is the perfect watch for what I do. There are lots of exercise modes available so you're not stuck with only an outdoor walking mode.

I bought this right before Thanksgiving and have been loving the coaching feature which has kept me on track to hit new running milestones. I also like seeing how much recovery I should be taking between fitness efforts so I am continuing to perform my best!
