I had an old Forerunner probably 8 years ago, and the 55, while simple compared to the bells and whistles of the fancier watches Garmin offers, is absolutely a dream upgrade. I'm a recreational runner, and this is everything I need and more: pace, VO2 max, steps, heart rate, and even training suggestions. Love it!

I'm telling everyone how much I like this watch, I bought it for fall detection but I'm enjoying the other features - it's definitely not just to tell time.
Too technical

Got it for a Christmas gift. I must say I am not very technical and I find it extremely confusing. I can’t even set the time. My old Garmin is much easier to use.

I bought my FR55 to test/compare it to my Apple Watch. I’ve felt my Apple Watch wasn’t consistent in capturing my true stats. So I bought a basic device (FR55), not too expensive, to give it a try. I’ve seen/heard lots of people “swear” by it. Honestly, my first impressions were “I don’t like it.” “It seems more complicated to navigate”, “I don’t like the appearance (UI)…. But I decided to give it a fair chance. After a couple of weeks it’s serving its purpose though I run with both devices to continue the comparison. The Garmin reads faster than Apple but I’ve had the AW for a few years now.

Great watch! Loved the features and how good it looks. Even if it looks small it has many features that are useful, and allowed me to learn a lot about my body.

I am a fan of the basic Forerunner watches. The features are great for someone who is maintaining a fitness routine and does not need the advanced features of the higher level watches. The 55 allows me to track runs, strength workouts, and even "breath work." Most importantly the battery life is good, though not as good as the 35. I charge the watch about once a week so far when using GPS and other tracking features almost daily.
Good solid running watch

I bought this a month ago, and I am pleased with its performance. And it connects to Garmin app on my iPhone so I can save data.

Seems like a good watch but..... I need better instructions to be able to use it properly. The info supplied with the watch is not detailed enough for this 83 year old engineer. Perhaps the only way to proceed is keep learning but I would really appreciate any additional help.

I received my Garmin through the wellness program at work. I did not need the most expensive model out there as this is the first smart watch I have gotten for myself. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it is to navigate the menu. I like that I can personalize the watch faces. I am amazed at how fast my steps add up during the day and with just a quick glance I can view that.
