Q: Do HiBar products contain palm oil or other products derived from palm trees?
A: Thanks for reaching out! Our bars are not made directly with palm oil or palm oil derivatives. However in full transparency we have found some of our ingredients may periodically contain palm oil derivatives. That’s not really good enough for us, and we’re pretty sure it’s not good enough for you. So, we’re pushing on them to figure out their supply chain, so that they can guarantee that their cetyl alcohol is what they say it is – 100% palm oil-free. We've also started pushing back on our other suppliers and the supplier of our glycerin + BTMS cannot guarantee that those ingredients are 100% palm oil-free at this time either; that a derivative may be used in the process of making these ingredients however isn’t tracked closely enough to say for certain. If you want to go deeper on this, please do reach out to us.

Q: Does the hiBar sting when suds from it get into your eyes?
A: Hi. Thanks for asking. Yes, HiBAR shampoos will indeed sting your eye if you get any in there. They are definitely not tear-free. In fact we advise caution with younger children. On one hand, the solid formulation allows for precision application, on the other hand, it leaves the bar as a concentrated product so can sting. Hope that helps!

Q: Hello. What is the difference between the Maintain Shampoo and the Moisture Shampoo as the ingredients listed are exactly the same? Thank you.
A: Hi. Thanks so much for asking. It looks like there has been an error in uploading the packaging information. The ingredients on the Moisturize are correct, but the ingredients on Maintain are different. The biggest difference is the hydrating and nourishing ingredients in the Moisturize (coconut oil and rice protein) while Maintain uses shea butter and honeyquat for shine. We designed Maintain to be an everyday cleanser, and Moisturize for thick or dry hair. We are working with Target to get that info updated, so again, thank you for asking and calling our attention to the issue!

Q: Is this safe for highlights and colored hair? It won't strip my color?
A: Hi... no, HiBAR will not strip color. We made all our bars 100% color safe (ie, sulfate-free), because we love color, we think people should have their hair the color they want, and a part of a salon-quality shampoo's job is to keep that color as fresh as possible.

Q: Does this shampoo have a fragrance?
A: Hi. Yes, it does. We use essential oils... the same fragrance for all our current shampoo and conditioner bars. A simple, fresh citrusy scent derived from a blend of lime peel, orange peel, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, and ginger root. The fragrance is strongest when the bar first comes out of the pack, but dissipates quickly. Our goal was to create something livening in the shower, but not so strong that it would cling around afterwards.

Q: Just curious. Where is Hibar made? Is it a USA made product?
A: Hi. Good question. We make HiBAR in our own facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA!

Q: How do I store this in my shower? or should I take it out after use?
A: Hi. Yes, keeping them in the shower is the most convenient way. We recommend keeping them up out of standing water and away from any direct spray from your shower. (We use wire/chrome shower organizers. PS Target has great ones!) Stored that way, so that they can dry out a bit between uses, the bars will last and last.

Q: How long does your product last? I have shoulder length hair that I wash every other day.
A: Hi. Thanks for asking, and thanks for the detail about your hair. We find is easiest to compare to the liquid products you're using now. We are very conservative in our estimate… One shampoo bar lasts at least as long as a large 16oz bottle, usually quite a bit longer. And the conditioner bars last even longer than that. Either way, once it's done, it's done. No plastic bottle that stays in the environment for hundreds of years.
