Q: Is there a fragrance in this shampoo?

A: Hi. Yes, we use essential oils... the same fragrance for all our current shampoo and conditioner bars. A simple, fresh citrusy scent derived from a blend of lime peel, orange peel, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, and ginger root. The fragrance is strongest when the bar first comes out of the pack, but dissipates quickly. The goal is to give something livening in the shower, but that doesn't cling around afterwards.

Q: How do you tell the difference between the volumizing shampoo and volumizing conditioner?

A: The shampoo bar is typically lighter than the conditioner bar. There are also a few more hints. The shampoo bar is more opaque, mottled in texture and has a little "s" at the bottom. The conditioner bar is more translucent, smooth in texture and has a little concave hole in the bottom.

Q: Is the conditioner necessary if I use the shampoo bar? I have really short hair and don't want to weigh it down.

A: Hi. If you like to use conditioner, then... consider replacing our liquid conditioner with something like our bars. But... you're right, short hair is young hair, it has not been exposed to life as much as long hair, and so needs less conditioning. If that's the case with you, then by all means just try the shampoo and see if that works for you.

A: Hi. Yes, totally 100% safe for color. Really, that was the first thing we had to accomplish when we set out to make a true salon-quality product. (No sulfates, for example!)

Q: what's your recommendation for storage in the shower?

A: Hi. Hi. Thanks for asking. We recommend keeping them up out of standing water and away from any direct spray from your shower. (We use wire/chrome shower organizers. PS Target has great ones!) Stored that way, so that they can dry out a bit between uses, the bars will last and last.

A: Thanks for asking. We are very conservative in our estimate… One shampoo bar lasts at least as long as a large 16oz bottle, usually quite a bit longer. And the conditioner bars last even longer than that. Either way, once it's done, it's done. And no plastic bottle to hang around in the environment for hundreds of years.

This shampoo bar is very effective for hair with thin shafts. It thoroughly cleans and afterward hair is silky, shiny, and fluffy. A further plus is that no plastic container is used. Hooray. Great shampoo, much less unrecyclable waste!

This was my first bar shampoo, and it works well and my hair actually feels better than when I was using liquid shampoo. I had wanted to reduce the amount of plastic bottles I used, and this did surprisingly well. I'll get the conditioner bar soon too! A little pricey, but honestly it's lasting really long so I think it won't be a big deal for cost per use. Takes a few washes to figure out the best lather technique. I have thin straight hair and like it.

This bar works well on my long, wavy hair, and I like that it’s curly girl method approved. It doesn’t leave a residue and I think I even like the shape of the bar better than the shape of most shampoo bars. Definitely appreciate the company and it’s sustainability, too. However, I’m not sure whether this will be my go-to shampoo despite all the nice things I’ve said so far. I really enjoy using shampoos with nice scents, and I get nothing really out of the *experience* using this (except clean hair, of course). I love trying new scents and things and really just enjoying the otherwise tedious experience of hair washing.

Was hesitant to purchase as this was my first foray into shampoo bars but I actually like this product- the end result is no different than my regular shampoo (I cycle between H&S, FXofB, and kirklnd). As far as it being volumizing I’m not quite sure, but it surprisingly leaves my hair nice and soft; it’s not drying. The only issue I have with it is with application, it can drag and pull at hairs. But can’t really knock it for that. I probably will repurchase once used up.

I like the scent and how nice and soft my hair feels from it. I REALLY wish it was sold in stores instead of having to order it because I feel that negates trying to be green and skip the plastic bottles. Other shampoo bars sold in Target stores are wrapped in plastic which I dislike because again, trying to use less plastic. This shampoo bar is wrapped in paper so everything in recyclable.

This is truly one of the best shampoos I've ever purchased. I love that the product is environmentally friendly. It lathers well and smells great. I have fine hair and this works great. I also have a sensitive head (lots of shampoos make me itchy), but have had no issues with this one. It has also lasted me a lot longer then I thought a bar product would. I highly recommend this product!

I love this shampoo. Great lather and my gray hair looks so bright. I didn’t realize how dull my hair had been looking until I used this shampoo. It made a huge difference from the very first shampoo. Made my hair look much fuller as well and I have pretty thin hair.
