We love this game so much. My son recently started school and maths is something he's really enjoying - These toucans make it all the more fun. Some of the equations as slightly too difficult for him right now, but we just keep them back and will work towards them. He'll grow into the more difficult questions meaning this game will be a keeper for a while!

At first glance I thought this game would be too advanced for my 4 year old but there really is so many ways you can use the Toucans to suit your child's ability and interest. My son was so eager to get started that he just tried guessing each addition sum! We discovered together that it would help to arrange the Toucans in order, thus creating a number line. Once he was shown how to use the number line there was no stopping him! He methodically worked through each addition card and turned it into a competition saying 'oooo number 8 is winning' 'mummy, number 3 won another card'. He was amazed to find the cards in each toucan at the end added up to the number on the toucan. The cards are little difficult to get out and I've already found myself turning up some of the corners but I'm sure there's a knack to it the more you do it. We use the same technique for some of the subtraction cards but some obviously use numbers above 10 e.g. 12-5 =. We're looking forward to working out ways to adapt the game so we can solve all the calculations.
