The LG LW1217ERSM is not only cool...it's SMART! Cool your home from anywhere using LG ThinQ technology to control your air conditioner with your phone or use with Amazon Alexa and Hey Google to have control with the sound of your voice. This quiet unit is ideal for cooling medium rooms up to 550 sq. ft. The unit has 3 cooling and fan speeds and a 24 hour timer to create a cooling schedule. 4-way air deflection lets the flow of air be directed where it's needed most whether cooling, dehumidifying or just circulating air. If there is a power outage, the auto restart feature will automatically turn your unit back on when power is restored. Other features include a remote control, easy window installation kit, slide-out (washable) filter and a check filter alert.

Bought this new and installed, now two years later the compressor will not shut off or cycle and freezes up due to a faulty compressor relay. The only way to shut it down is to unplug the unit. It seems to be happening to others that have bought this LG unit as well.

Air conditioner blows air out of only one side with vent closed. Opening vent allws hot air in from outside to blow out other side. Not ideal for even cooling. Consider installing right side of room.

If I wanted an air conditioner it had to have certain specifications. It could not be a window unit it had to be through the wall or a portable unit. I opted for through the wall but was having difficulty finding something with the sleep requirements that was large enough to accommodate my square footage. I was ecstatic to find this LG which was perfect for what I needed.

I bought the unit during the peak of a heat wave as the old one (non-LG) decided to quit when it was needed the most. Long story short, the new unit stood the test of the heat wave well. No regrets.

Loud and built out of cheap materials... the cover for the air filter has been rattling for 2 years and now the plastic tabs that hold the cover closed broke. I have to tape it to keep it shut. I should have gone with Frigidaire instead of this garbage product.

This ac does what it is supposed to do but does something I find annoying. In energy saving mode the unit will shut down when the temp is reached. That's good. Less good is that the fan will turn on every 3 or so minutes to check the air. This creates unwanted noise. When cooling is again needed the compressor and fan start again and the cycle is repeated. Why the fan is needed for the sensor to check the ambient air is a mystery to me . Other then that all is well and the unit does a good job of cooling.

I wanted more features to pull the air from the outside to cool, but considering that avoiding this keeps allergens from entering the inside space and most recently smoke from the Canadian fires, I probably made the right choice. I didn’t realize that there was even a valve to control the intake of outside air to cool. You learn something new everyday as they say.
