Lifetime Hydros 85 Kayak - Orange - 90595

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a Tacoma several years ago and really liked it. Wanted to get my wife a shorter lighter one and this Hydros really for the bill. Lots of good fishing features and only 40 lbs.

Took this kayak out on its maiden voyage today. Was doing OK for a short time when I started having issues with keeping the seat back in the upright position. It seemed the straps were slipping and stretching at the same time. Plus, when I tried to make adjustments the 2-part clips kept coming apart. Had to return to shore in the prone position which was not easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought Hydros 85. I see the Tamarak has a paddle keeper on the side rail. Why not on the Hydros 85? The groove in the chassis behind the seat is useless. Otherwise a great kayak. Any possibility of me getting and installing a paddle keeper?

I got the Hydros because it fit in the cabover camper shell on my Tacoma. I had about 8'8" of space, far too small for my old Scrambler Ocean Kayak. This fit my needs and performed far better than expected. The stock seating situation was the most comfortable of any sit on top kayak I have used too, which was unexpected. After some years of use a clip on the seat strap broke while launching off a beach. Lifetime customer service was great and got me back on the water within a week. It would be nice to have parts lists on the website though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had these kayaks for several years. They are very durable and easy for one person to load and unload alone. They don't tip over easily. Our younger kids can also handle them well in the water. We've had so much fun with these.

I emailed the lifetime customer service because I lost the seat to my kayak and they responded asking for the model number address and phone number and to my surprise they sent me a free seat at no cost… Totally unexpected, in the future if I need to replace my kayak I will definitely buy another lifetime!!

Tracks great and easy to carry to water

Purchased 2 for Florida Gulf waters fun. Needed a seat hook & clip and Hanna helped out via phone and we got them in the mail Pronto... and no charge either. Love the old school customer service. Thank you Lifetime!

I needed a replacement part for one of my Lifetime Hydros Kayaks. Upon reaching Trenton at Lifetime, he quickly and accurately found the missing piece and had it sent to me immediately. Competent customer service is a dying art, and it's especially wonderful to encounter it when looking for small parts to fix an item you own. Keep up the good work Lifetime, I will continue to purchase your products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After much research and shopping around for kayaks, we decided on Lifetime 8.5ft kayaks. My biggest concern was size since I am only 5'4" (F) active and 50+ and was worried about being able to carry the kayak if I had to go a significant distance. The parking at my local favorite spots is about 20-30 yards from the launch point. The size and weight is ideal for me and my daughter to carry with little effort. I was surprised how effective the small groove was that is built just for this purpose. Also of concern was transportation, but the length and width of this model Volt 8.5 did not require anything but strategic placement and strapping on my F150. These easily fit in a full sized Suburban with 2nd and 3rd row seats folded. The paddles are solid but not too heavy. For beginning recreational kayakers this was a good choice. The other models would have been too heavy and on heavy traffic lake days the smaller form makes maneuvering easy. Heavy duty construction without the weight. We are considering getting two more for when friends or family visit.

We lost a buckle to one of our canoe seats while running a river recently! I called Lifetime hoping that they had a replacement buckle that I could purchase for our 5 year old Lifetime canoe. I was pleasantly surprised how simple the call was and to find out that they had the part! I was even more surprised when they said that they would send me a replacement immediately along with a spare! I had my credit card out expecting to pay for the item along with a shipping charge but was once again surprised that there was no charge! Now that is a company that I will purchase from for a lifetime!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had mine for years and i love it. I took passenger seat out and haul it in my fusion. I use it everywhere. The price i paid which was much lower than advertised price. I will buy another if this wears out. U cant drag these around or u can wear holes duh. Not that heavy to carry.

I have used my Volt 8.5 sit-on-top kayak for three years now on our beautiful mountain lake. The weight is light enough for me to get it on & off my car easily, but it is heavy enough that I don’t get easily blown around in the wind & waves. Love it. They also replace front & back handles for free when I had worn through them.
