Q: I want to use these to keep in my car for when we go through the drive-thru, etc. I want to always have them on hand. So how would they do long term if I want to keep them in a hot car?

A: I kept a box in the car for a year. Trust me, they crumbled the following Spring.
submitted byToasted - 9 months agoA: Heat will cause compostable items to break down faster. It is not advised that you keep Matter straws in a hot car. If you do decide to try, be sure to at least keep them out of direct sunlight.

Q: "No added PFAS additive" is unclear to me. Do these straws contain any PFAS (added or not)?

A: There is no PFAS added in the manufacturing process. PFAS does naturally occur in the environment, but no PFAS is used in our formulations.

A: Matter straws are made to be as sturdy as disposable plastic ones and more sturdy than paper ones. While we cannot guarantee that it will hold a 3-tied cake, they are strong, so it's certainly worth a try.

I bought these because I’ve been looking for non plastic straws since plastic builds up in the body, doesn’t leave the body, and causes cancer. I didn’t buy them for environmental reasons. Glad there is finally an option other than paper and hard to clean steel and glass straws. I only use them in cold drinks.

I try to be environmental conscious but this straw is the worst. It collapses in HOT beverages and cannot be used. Maybe a defect? I don't know but Im going back o my stainless steel reuseable straws. These are a no-go for me in the future. Waste of money

I like these straws. You get the benefit of a traditional plastic straw, but these are biodegradable. Many of the paper straws that I’ve tried break down too quickly. I definitely recommend these straws.

I love these straws because I prefer to drink with a straw and feel better knowing that these will biodegrade. They feel like real straws and don’t give me the creeps like paper straws do. They hold up and feel exactly like a regular straw.
