[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this sander for about 8 years and it's still going strong. It has plenty of power to quickly smooth rough cut lumber and the variable speed control allows me to slow it down to do finer sanding. The weight makes it easy to keep flat on surfaces when sanding from above but can be cumbersome when sanding edges. The spring clamp does a great job of holding the dust collection bag in place but the zipper position and bag shape make emptying the bag a little time consuming. Belt changes and tracking are quick and easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome tool, can use cordless or corded depending on the job! Battery life gets drained quick, so having that corded option is perfect!

My old porter cable belt sander lasted 20 years and was still working great except for the shoe and after market shoes would not last. Fast forward to yesterday and the Metabo after the second use broke the drive belt. I could not be more disappointed in product. Sanding belts are pricey enough but to have to replace both is not sustainable.

Tracking is lousy. Constantly adjusting, have to keep an eye on it instead of focusing on the work.

This Metabo sander replaced an ancient Porter Cable tool. The variable speed control is excellent, and it is much lighter than the old tool without sacrifice of sanding effectiveness.
Very good medium duty sander

I use this sander primarily on southern treated wood for decks and works very well as long as I let the weight of the sander do the work. The belt does not travel once the alignment is adjusted.

In the market for a corded sander and found out the options are limited. Initially purchased a Craftsman and returned it the next day. The deciding factor was the fact that the rollers were the same size on front and back allowing for a smoother finish while sanding. Sander works very well and since its corded no need to buy expensive batterys.

A very nice sander for the price. I am very pleased with this sander. I do not have a lot of time on this unit yet, but seems very well made. I have an Hitachi cordless drill that I have had for years, and if this sander is an example of Hitachi quality, it should last a long time.

This seems like a nice sander but has a few unusual design features. The cord coming out of the top makes it difficult to turn sander upside down. The metal platten under the belt was poorly formed and required bending to make the belt sit flat. I prefer the in-line sander designs as these with the belt/ motor housing sticking out the side are prone to tipping easier but this was the only sander I could find in my area? I was able to finish my project with the sander, just a few annoying features.
Accomplished job very well!

This is a high quality, well built belt sander. It has plenty of power to tackle most jobs with ease. I used it to smooth and finish several 10 foot long rough sawn black walnut boards. The sander powered through with ease and also collected most of the dust.

Had to return the belt sander. The sander leaned to the left causing uneven sanding and left large sanding gouging marks.

I had it now for over a year. The standard belt size is great, belt tracking has been rock solid. The dust bag is secure and works well.
