Q: Can the cameras and monitoring screen function wirelessly? Are they battery-powered or rechargeable? If rechargeable, how long is the battery life? If battery powered, what kind of battery does this take?

submitted by Lexi - 29 days ago
  • A: Dear customer, Thank you for contacting us. Yes, the camera and monitor screen work wirelessly. The monitor screen has a lithium battery inside and the battery is rechargeable. After fully charged, it can support 5 hours operation with the screen always ON. It can be 8 hours with screen off and audio monitor only. The camera unit does not have battery inside and thus it always need to power plug-in. Kind regards, The Motorola Nursery Team

I had the older version of this and loved it, but the slowly started having a charging issue with the monitor. After setting up the new one, I cannot move the monitors at all, and everything is very delayed. I spoke to the kids in their doorway walked to my room and finished hearing what I said about 2 minutes later. The sound is also very muted/muffled even after adjusting the mic. Will be returning.

Had to return the first one I bought because the sound was messed up on the monitor. Returned for a refund and placed another order. Got the replacement and it seemed fine at first but now the sound is messed up again. Disappointed because I have the older version of this and it works perfectly fine. Would love a replacement to try again but it’s a hassle to return to store to store credit just to place another order to ship.

Split screen viewing for parents of multiples! Easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Motorola gifted me this baby monitor set in return for my honest opinion and sharing my feedback. As a parent you cannot be everywhere at the same time, but having a reliable good quality baby monitor system can give you the peace of mind you are looking for when you need that extra set of eyes. Out of the box, this baby monitor system comes with two cameras and the parent monitor unit with a practical split screen viewing option. Having two cameras is a great option for someone like me who has more than one small child, children sleeping in different rooms, or who simply wants to have multiple viewing angles in the baby's room. The camera has infrared night vision, remote control pan and tilt, zoom capability, two way audio with LED sound level indicator on the parent unit, room temperature sensors and the ability to play calming lullabies for little ones. The parent unit can be disconnected from the wall adapter and works for up to six hours on a full charge. With a range of up to one thousand feet you can rest assured that you don't lose connection even when you step outside in your backyard or patio. This baby monitor set is very easy and intuitive to set up and use. I like that it doesn't connect to internet and is therefore more safe. Overall, this lightweight baby monitor is designed well with parents in mind to help them keep an eye on baby at all times and make life easier. I highly recommend this baby monitor set by Motorola!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To start off , I received this baby monitor for free in exchange of my honest review . The set up is pretty simple two cameras and a monitor came in the box . One thing I didn't like was there wasn't an instruction pamphlet stating how to link the cameras to the monitor but I found that online and it was easy to do so . The monitor can switch back and forth on the view or you can do split screen view . The night vision I felt was good . The monitor has different settings you can play with for the view you want your camera to have . I have an infant and a toddler who nap/sleep in different rooms so it's super helpful being able to watch both of them . It has two way audio which is neat and can even play some music . I haven't had any connection issues since using it . There is an option to download their Motorola nursery app but I like using the monitor it definitely meets all my needs . Even shows what the temp is inside the rooms . I would definitely recommend it to other parents .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using it to monitor play time and sleep when I travel with the kids. I like the ability to maneuver it further up and down or side to side than most camera monitors. Although, it's rather laggy and sometimes not very precise on positioning when you move it. The picture quality isn't great (compared to my original monitor - infant optics) the picture also lags a lot. The sound quality both on the monitor and the camera isn't up to par but it works! The split is nice and convenient when you're needing to watch both cameras at the same time - although, I would have loved the ability to zoom out more so I could fit more in each frame. I also don't love that you can't move the camera when you're in the split screen mode. Overall, it's a great baby monitor and great price for what it does!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model has two cameras and a handheld monitor. Very easy to use just plug it up and it was working. The monitor has great viewing quality. Not only do I use this in my nursery I use it to keep an eye on my order children. Wonderful quality with the microphones. Would recommend to any parent. Nice design that would go with any decor, not an eyesore. Great system from a well-known quality brand. Do wish that there was an app to continue to monitor via my phone when I am not home like with a Wi-Fi capability. Great nanny cam or nursery cam. So glad I have this. Use it daily.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the display quality is great. It has a 5inch color sceeen that provides clear and sharp images. I am able to keep an eye on my baby from other areas of the house. The audio quality is good. It alllows two way communication so I'm able to speak to my baby and calm her down from another room rather than getting out of bed. This is definitely a nice monitor. It has made our life easier. We are able to connect to it from anywhere in our entire house. Love it. Definitely recommend to other parents

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this split screen baby monitor! I have two children so it makes it super convenient to have one monitor to carry around while I watch my boys! The range for this camera is amazing it has the best coverage I can go outside and in my basement while my kids are sleeping on the 3rd floor of our home! The image is crisp and clear and the zoom feature is so nice. I often zoom in and check their breathing for peace of mind! I love that it doesn't require WiFi as I am not comfortable with those cameras! I love the temperature monitoring, lullabies and two way talk feature. We use these cameras and monitor every single night and day for naps and have been super happy with them! Great product and for a great price!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Motorola VM50G-2 in exchange for my honest opinion and review and I am extremely impressed! Design and Build: The Motorola VM50G-2 features a sleek and modern design with a compact camera unit and a dedicated parent unit. The camera is typically adjustable, allowing you to position it for the best view of your baby's crib. The parent unit is user-friendly and lightweight, making it easy to carry around the house. Display and Video Quality: The monitor usually comes with a 5-inch color LCD display that offers clear and bright images. The video quality is generally good, with decent resolution for viewing your baby. It often includes night vision capabilities, allowing you to see your baby even in low light conditions. Audio and Communication: The VM50G-2 typically includes two-way audio, enabling you to both hear and speak to your baby. The sound quality is generally clear, and the microphone picks up ambient noises well. Some models may also feature sound-activated LEDs that indicate when there's noise in the baby's room. Range and Connectivity: The monitor usually provides a reliable range, allowing you to move around your home without losing signal. It operates on a secure frequency, reducing the risk of interference from other devices. Some models may include features like digital zoom or pan-and-tilt controls, enhancing the monitoring experience. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 little girls share a bedroom and I've been using this monitor in their room. Their old one was starting to mess up. This new monitor has been so nice!! I've had zero issues with it. The sound quality is great. It had a very clear picture and the night vision is very good too. The settings are easy to adjust and it's a simple, but wonderful product. One thing I love is how I can move the cameras around using the parent's screen. I didn't have that before and it's so handy. This is great and I highly recommend it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well I thought that the cameras are going to be good quality but I was disappointed. They don't give a good quality pictures; it's like when you watch a video from those old phones with 144p or 200p. The only thing that I use right now with this product is launching the music for my girls. They like it and it soothes them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Motorola kindly gave me this Motorola VM50G-2 Baby Monitor for free so that I could review it. The Motorola VM50G-2 baby monitor offers a mixed bag of features. performance is good but not outstanding. Some Pros included: Large 5-inch Display: The 5-inch color screen Two Cameras: two cameras allow you to monitor multiple rooms or children. Remote Pan, Tilt, and Zoom: You can adjust the camera view remotely (using the baby monitor). The camera tilts very quietly. Other baby monitors I had were loud and sometimes the sound of tilting the camera would wake the baby up. Temperature sensor on each baby camera and the continuous display of the temperature on the display My favorite Two-Way Talk. You can talk to your baby, and the voice sounds pretty good. It doesn't sound robotic. Some Cons I noticed: Inconsistent Camera Quality especially when is in the dark mode. No Wi-Fi Connectivity: The monitor does not connect to Wi-Fi, so you cannot view the video feed on your phone or other devices. The monitor doesn't turn on when the baby makes a noise. You can still hear if you have the sound on, but if you have the display off only the sound will play. On other monitors I had the screen would turn on if detected noise even if the sound on the screen monitor was off. Overall: The Motorola VM50G-2 baby monitor is a functional option since it offers good features for parents who need to monitor their baby in multiple rooms. If you're looking for a reliable baby monitor the VM50G-2 is a decent option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love that you can move the camera side to side and up/down as needed. It also tells you the temperature of the room. Very clear audio. Parent monitor stays charged for a few hours. The only issue I had was trying to connect the cameras to the mobile app. For some reason it wouldn't connect, could be a user error though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My baby naps in a different room from the one he sleeps in, so having multiple cameras make it extremely convenient to swap with the single monitor. The connectivity has been great, where other cameras failed me, this one has worked really well. My only minor gripe is that the normal view is pretty zoomed in. I get around this by repositioning the camera.

We bought another brand and it broke down after 2 days used and the quality is not that good. Motorola does know their electric devices well . Hope this product will help more family with young children.

A good overall camera

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using these cameras for about two to three weeks now and haven't had any issues with the parent monitor or the cameras staying connected. The picture quality is clear enough both day and night to see my twins and how they're laying. Considering the price for two cameras, it's decent and worth the money. There's no Wi-Fi connection for an app on the phone, and the screen can be a bit bright at night. The sound quality is good, and the monitor's battery life is solid, lasting about four hours on a full charge.

Easy to set up and high quality video and sound. Love the sound features and how easy and seamless it was to connect up!
