Q: The motion sensor is on however the lid will not open. It will close when manually opened, but it does not automatically as it should. What is the trouble shoot? We hear a sound when motion is around

During the 24 hours while the unit is off, you can wipe down the sensor with a damp cloth or disinfecting wipe. Once the 24 hours have passed you can insert good working batteries into the unit and switch it back on. The unit should be reset and work properly.

Please also adjust the liner ring by removing it from the base of the unit and placing it back on. It worked for about 2 months, then the motor wouldn’t open the lid anymore. The fact that it automatically turns itself off after a certain amount of time was also super annoying. Why would you add that feature to an automatic trash can?? Pretty much defeats the purpose when you have to push the button to turn it back on several times a day! Absolutely do not recommend this junk!

I like the size of this trashcan and that's about it. The motion sensor is a nightmare. Every time I try to throw something away, and it doesn't open, I think "Nine stars? More like NONE stars". It is so bad my four year old has asked for a new trashcan for his birthday.
