A: We're sorry to hear about this. The iO handle uses the traditional back and forth cleaning motion of oscillation rotation. This means that the brush head should move with a frequency of 145 Hertz, which delivers 17,400 rotation movements per minute. A: While we do have travel cases available for purchase, we do not make covers designed to just fit over our toothbrush heads. In fact, we don't recommend covering your toothbrush between uses or storing it in a closed container as this could cause bacteria to grow.

A: You may first choose your default mode by pressing the mode button on the brush handle successively once the handle is awake (display turned on). Select a mode by pressing the on/off button. Your toothbrush will then start in the selected default mode. You may also change modes during brushing using the mode button.

If we could give Oral-B IO electric toothbrushes zero stars, we would! We bought two brushes, and one of them stopped working within a month. We had to contact Oral-B for a refund, wait for a return label, and then buy packing tape and a box to send it back to them. We are still waiting for our refund. This has been a huge waste of time. Our second toothbrush stopped charging last night, so it lasted only 1.5 months. We contacted Oral-B again, and this is what they told us: "Our 60-day money-back guarantee is limited to one refund per name, household, or address. We can, however, assist with the process of sending the brush to one of our service centers to get it back in working order." So, we can't get a refund for our second toothbrush because their 60-day policy only allows for one return per address! This is ridiculous! Two toothbrushes stopped charging or working within 1.5 months! We will never purchase from Oral-B again! Also, be sure to read reviews carefully—most of them received the product for free in exchange for a review!

Be aware, this toothbrush grows mold inside after 4 months off use I notice black mold inside.

Our Oral-B iO 4 is made of inorganic material, and would not expect it to grow mold. What you may be seeing is a build-up of dried toothpaste residue. Over time as it dries, it can become discolored. The best way to prevent is too clean your toothbrush after every use. You first want to begin by rinsing your toothbrush while it still on. Then turn off your device, detach the brush head from the handle. Rinse both pieces separately, then rinse both pieces separately. Next dry off both pieces with a cloth, and allow it to fully dry before reattaching. We'd like to learn more about your experience, and would appreciate you giving us a call at (800) 566-7252.

I bought this a year and a half ago, and it worked pretty well up until about 3 months ago when it started dying after a week/10 days. Mind you I’m not brushing my teeth 5x a day, and I don’t leaving it sitting on the charger for days. This shouldn’t be happening. My old tooth brush lasted 8 YEARS and I abused that thing. And now it just completely stopped working, so I sent it in and now the supposed 2 year warranty just doesn’t apply because I don’t have the PAPER receipt from a YEAR and a half ago. That’s just their way to get out of honoring the warranty. Also I did register this toothbrush, so what’s the point of doing that if you’re not going to honor the warranty??

Toothpaste constantly rolls down the toothbrush. The battery doesn’t stay charged longer than 5 days. The toothbrush doesn’t shut off after 2 minutes. I’ve had this toothbrush for 5 months and I’m switching to another brand.

I bought this toothbrush July, 2023 and am disappointed daily with this purchase. I follow all manufacturer's instructions and still have mildew accumulating on both the brush head and handle. The design does not allow for all parts to dry in between brushes. Even when I store my brush head completely separate from the handle (which is super difficult because of the angle of the head and no place on the charger to store the head) the brush somehow manages to grow mildew. It's just a terrible product for the price.

Even with rinsing after each use, toothpaste can harden over time, creating a chalky coating that may appear black, brown, orange, pink, or grey on the metal shaft, rubber parts, and joints, as well as on the charger. Water and toothpaste can also collect on the brush head and handle, leaving a residue that varies in color depending on your toothpaste and water hardness. Rest assured, this buildup is not harmful and can be easily removed with a thorough cleaning. To help prevent it in the future, we recommend rinsing your toothbrush thoroughly as outlined in your manual, including the handle, and wiping down the charger. I bought this product about 6 months ago and I am extremely unhappy with it. If I could rate it a zero I would. I have to constantly keep removing the head to clean it out or black mold builds up over only a couple of days. The black mold is also stuck in the actual handle part of the toothbrush and It is next to impossible to clean out. I need to purchase a new electric toothbrush and do not trust oral B when I used to have an old one that I used for multiple years. No thanks.

Ordered this on 12/10/23 and it died in just less than 5 months. I It won't charge. The charging base works fine (can charge another Oral B toothbrush on it). Was expecting better quality from Oral B. I'll go back to Sonicare.

Not a good set up. I have had plenty of oral B toothbrushes. This is the only one I have not been able to tell what setting I am on just by feel. It has four settings but only feels like maybe two. My old one had an indicator on the handle so even if you were not quite sure you could tell by the light indicator. Not on this one, very disappointed. Would return but already got rid of box. My bad. Don't take for granted newer is better lesson learned.

Good luck getting this to work. The enclosed instructions are minimal. I guess they want to drive you to the online manual and the app, but neither are user friendly. I tried downloading the app but it cannot recognize my toothbrush even though it was turned on and right next to my phone. I tried changing the settings manually but there is no apparent way to tell what setting you are on.

I’ve used this brush for about 2 months and I noticed that shape of my teeth are changing, which is a cause for concern. My teeth are less rounded and look as though they’ve been filed down. So basically, this brush is too abrasive for me. I feel like going back to manual! I actually did a good job at brushing my teeth with a manual and regret ever using an electric toothbrush. Especially this one!

As far as the brushing action is concerned, I am very happy. Every time I use the brush, it feels like I just had my teeth cleaned by the dentist. BUT: no point in paying for the bluetooth connection upgrade compared to the iO Series 3. Although the product description suggests that one would get a report about coverage with the “A.I. Brushing Recognition”, all the app will tell you with the Series 4 is how long you brushed and if you applied too much pressure - things you already know because the brush has a timer and its lights give instant feedback about the pressure. It’s also hard to tell which one of the 4 cleaning modes the brush is using.. If you want more feedback or a better display, get the Series 5 or higher. If you just want a great brush, get the Series 3.

It connects easily to the app. The app gives a lot of useful information and shows if you've spent enough time on each section of your mouth. I feel like the brush is really getting my teeth clean and my gums aren't irritated. Most of the time, when I'm brushing, I don't have my phone nearby, so I just brush without opening the app. I like the pressure indicator. It has helped me see that I tend to apply too much pressure. I also really love the travel case. My last electric toothbrush didn't come with one so it's a really nice bonus to have one.
