A: Hi Barbara! For our 8-Cup French Press, we recommend heating the water between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit for best results.However, this item can withstand boiling water which is 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

I have loved the convenience of this french press for years, but a guest broke the carafe and I wish it could be replaced instead of having to buy an entire new product. It just seems wasteful.

Overall it's great, but the grounds lifter isn't really worth it. The grounds lifter allows grounds to escape past the plunger screen, and I don't know that it really saves me that much cleanup effort. I now use it without the grounds lifter. The glass carafe is sturdier than my previous bodum French press and the holder is robust.

It's a very nice French press with a comfortable and robust handle. The grounds lifter passes smoothly into and out of the carafe. Four stars instead of five because the prior version was much better IMO, with more stainless steel constituting the barrel and smaller windows on each side, exposing only about an inch-width of glass per window (vs. more than double that in the current model).
Plunger won't unscrew from filters so can't clean filters

My husband gave me an 8-cup French Press with Grounds Lifter a couple of years ago for Christmas. We use it occasionally and like it, but now the plunger won't unscrew from the filters and I cannot clean them. I don't see a replacement part on OXO's website either. I generally think OXO products are very good quality, but this is taking away from my view of their products.

I use this product to make my batch of iced coffee every week. I make it hot then store it right in my fridge once its cools. It makes the perfect cup of cold brew every time!

Big design flaw. The coffee does not pour properly and when I push the plunger down water and grounds can come out near the handle—not a little quite a mess. I tried it a few times it’s just poorly designed. Big no. Stick with Bodum.

My first French press, still tweaking the grounds coarseness and brew time, but so far it seems sturdy and the lifter is genius. OXO replaced glass part with new press quickly and easily when lip broke off. I use with a carafe to keep hot longer.

I was looking for something for my husband that had an easy way to get rid of the grounds afterwards. He tried to use it several times but each time he ended up with grounds in his coffee. He won't use it anymore. The design should have allowed for the handle to be recessed into the wall of the carafe so the grounds don't seep through!I bought this in early November for a Christmas gift, so it was well over the 30 days allowed& now I cannot return it . Waste of $.

This guy is great — I am not a big coffee drinker. When I do have a cup I am VERY picky about it. I have one of these at my desk at the office so I can have my own cup(s) of whatever kind of coffee I want at my own strength.
