This grass seed made so much difference and some soft, cool grass is coming in quite well! Fingers crossed all the rain doesn't drown it out...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This seed will work best for actual bare spots in the lawn. I put down the seed and set my sprinklers to water twice a day for about 3 minutes each time. It is mostly mulch with some seed mixed in. The mulch will actually change color when it is wet or dry, so you easily know if it needs more water. It is a fescue seed, and the grass is very fine. I live in central Florida and put it down in early fall. The grass started sprouting in about 7 days in most areas and is still alive and well in late December even though I’ve turned off the sprinklers for the winter. It seemed to sprout and grow fastest in the full and partially shaded areas. It did grow in full sun, but it took a while and cooler temperatures (highs in the low 70s.) It works as expected but I’m not sure if it will die out in the summer here since it seemed to do better when we had cooler temperatures.

We had a lot of work going on around the house when I first used it, and it might not have got enough water (gotta keep moist) and/or too much foot traffic. However, I really liked the packaging and ease of use and will give it a try again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Pennington Smart Patch Dense Shade Mix grass seed to "fix" a part of the lawn that was damaged by a water leak. My house is on a hill, and the water pipe that leads from the road to the house sprung a leak at the bottom of the hill, making a muddy mess at the bottom. Once the leak was fixed, I was able to spread the grass seed over damaged area. I planted it this fall, so I'm looking forward to a beautiful spring! I like the fact that it's easy to use and good for anywhere in the USA.

It's an all inclusive package of seed, fertilizer, and mulch. Very easy to apply. The mulch even changes color when it's time to water. It has been just under a week and we have tiny grass sprouts. Will definitely get more for another bald area of lawn.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great seeding mix for grass in shady areas. And it's very easy to use, just loosen the soil a bit, spread the mix and water. In about a week you'll see the grass starting to grow. I've used it to fill in some bare spots under tress and it's worked very well and my yard looks much better.

Was easy to apply to my yard and within I would say a month the patches were disappearing and grass was growing there. This isn't a quick process just FYI. It takes time and patience. It does work well though.
