PetSafe ScoopFree Clumping Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box

I bought this about three months ago and the rake is getting stuck when it dumps the cats waste. The only way to get the rake to the home position is walk it back by constantly pushing the power button until it reaches the end. Then, If we are not home it constantly tries to go back and doesn’t.then we get the smell of the litter because the lid stays open. It also traps a lot of the clean litter with the waste. We have tried everything suggested to get it to eork and it doesn’t. I am having to scoop the litter box out when I bought a self cleaning one. Very disappointed that it hasn’t lasted

I have had this litter box less than a year and it is now stuck with a solid red light on. It will blink blue and red, run its cycle and then turn to a solid ted once back at the home position. I have tried all of the trouble shooting and it still doesn’t not work. Definitely not worth the price for a little as it lasts. Up until now, it was great.

I bought this less than 6 months ago and it's dead. The rake goes a few inches and returns, even without litter in it. Then it stopped raking at all. If I unplug it and replug it in , sometimes it works for 30 seconds, but not enough. The rake never seemed very powerful and often missed the big clumps on the bottom, but it did exactly what I needed - cleaned the box constantly! My cat loved that he never had to step on anything on the top of the litter. So i am VERY disappointed that it didn't last a year. It's so expensive for the issues it has. I have to find a replacement that's open top like this one. And crystal litter is a no go, all my Foster cats hate crystal litter.

I bought two of these within this last year and at first they worked good enough, but then one kept having issues where the rake would stop moving for no obvious reason (could be in fresh litter). The issue became unrepairable and PetSafe replaced it. About four months later and now both litter boxes are obnoxiously loud and I constantly have to take the rake off because it rubs on one side. Save yourself the frustration and money by just scoop regular boxes daily.

This has worked great for about 8 months and now it seems the button doesn’t work and it is holding the rake in the front like it’s dumping it and won’t reset to the back to the rear of the box no matter what i do. It also seems to have trouble using lightweight litter for some reason. It also messes up and incomplete the rake. If I were to do it again I’d probably get one with an app so at least you can see what’s wrong with it. Annoying it didn’t last me longer but when it works it works! Decent bang for buck

I bought two of these in August 2024, and by December one of them stopped working. I ordered a replacement, but now in January 2025 none of them are working. They were fine while they worked, although a little noisy, but to stop working altogether after only 5 months, I definitely did NOT get my money's worth. I do not recommend this product.

We bought this piece of junk litter box at the beginning of December 2024 and it’s been nothing but a headache. The rake is horribly designed and is forever getting clumps of poop and pee behind it so that daily rake cleaning is required. If your cat pees at the end with the rake or the very end by the dump tray the rake just smushes it and doesn’t clean properly. The rake is forever getting stuck at the dump tray and you can’t even fix it because there is no access unless the rake is in home position. And it’s LOUD! It pops and squeaks and is like nails on a chalkboard to listen to. Such a waste of money. Do NOT recommend.

I bought this 3 weeks ago and I'm very disapointed. Poop gets stuck in the metal rake and a lot of clean litter gets raked into the waste compartment. A lot of litter is wasted. I have to gone through a lot of litter with this. I have tried a lot of different litters and there all the same. Litter is kicked all over. It's more work for me. Back to the old litter box. The cat is much happier.

I bought this aweful waste of your money cat litter box …. Cause it barely works the arm has no strength so it gets stuck and You will end up scooping it out!!! Piece of garbage don’t buy it

It was working fine at first when I bought it back in May, but in the 2 months the rake has been stuck in home position. I’ve gone through all of the troubleshooting tips available to me; cleaning the rake track, cleaning the sensors, making sure the litter was at the appropriate level, turning it off and on again (several times) and nothing. I wouldn’t waste your money on it since it doesn’t last long.

I brought these 2 months ago and it saves me a lot of time and less work for me. It stops when my cat jumps in so I don’t have to worry about her getting hurt. Only issue I’ve ran into is when my cat jumps in there to poop and the rake is going back. The rake picks the poop up and traps it at the back of the box. I wish the rake would just life itself up instead of dragging itself back through the litter. Other than that there isn’t any issue with it and I love it. Will continue to use it just with my cat would stop pooping in it in the middle of a cleaning session

I purchased this 15 days ago and the amount of litter that it wastes is awful. It definitely doesn't do what it says. I have to put more litter in the box every 2 days. It's suppose to mask the smell and that's not the case. I bought this to make my job a little easier, but I find myself scooping through the already scooped litter to save what wasn't used. I would not recommend to anyone

I have three sweet babies but one of them is SO particular about her litter boxes. Before they HAD to have high sides, no lid and if it was not clean DAILY she would poop just outside of it. I was so frustrated. I tried the crystal litter, no a fan… scooping 3 cat boxes got to be too much so I took a chance with this and no more pooping in front of the litter box! I gave it 4 stars thought because if the tray over fills even slightly there tends to be litter that falls behind the tray and sometimes where the rake resets it holds on to excess matter. I put a litter mat down now so hoping that helps! Anywho, love this and so now I’m getting two more. No more scooping for me :)

We upgraded to this after having the Classic version thinking it would be easier to clean and less of a hassle. Wrong….you can’t simply “wipe down” the rake. Also, the rake doesn’t drop low enough, so if your fur baby urinates, it doesn’t scoop the entire clump and just builds a mud pile at the bottom.

I’ve had this litter box for almost 2 months and it has broken too many times to count. It’s extremely loud compared to another automatic litter box that was $100 cheaper. Extremely disappointing how loud it is for being SO expensive. It gets stuck on the tray side so I can’t take the rake out.

I have this litter box for about 4 months, and every once in a while it will stop right where the tray is, and just flash red and blue if anyone could help me figure out how to fix this that would be great but other than that it’s a good litter box

I’ve had this about 4 1/2 months and it’s been working great for my 2 cat house. Recently the rake because misaligned and started jamming. I came to the website to find instructions on how to fix the problem but the page can’t be found after clicking the link.

I bought this about a week and a half ago and I do like It so far. They didn’t have a hood attachment when I bought if, as I thought I could get it later. But I wanted a top opening hood and I see that they don’t offer those for this model. So I’m giving this 4.5 stars just cause I can’t get offered the type of hood attachment for this. Other than that it does the job, my cat likes it, and I like being given options in what kind litter I can use for my cat.

This litter box is absolute trash, it barely works and when it tries to work it makes an even bigger mess. It did not properly scoop the pee which then started sticking to the bottom of the box. When the rake finally hit it instead of stopping due to resistance it only pushed on breaking the plastic that pushes the rake. Worst purchase I made. I thought I was smart buying something cheaper than the litter robot but BIG MISTAKE save the hassle and don't buy this.

I purchased two of these along with two hoods within the past month. For two of my cats it does great and works exactly as it should unless they push litter too high in the back. Then I have to take a scoop and readjust it so the rake works properly. However, with my senior cat that pees high the design is terrible. At times pee seeps between the hood and the top of the box and because she pees near if not on the rake due to how high she pees, the rake is not able to scoop the clumps and becomes clogged. I then constantly have to take everything apart and re set it up. It was the worst when we went on vacation for three days this past week. Do not purchase if your cat pees high. Not worth the headache, but do purchase if your cats pee normally.
